We used to come to Tommy's regularly before COVID, but after a few lackluster meals, had not returned for some time until tonight. WOW. This was not only the best meal we've ever had at Tommy's, it was the best Chinese food we've had in Marin and the East Bay. Seasoned perfectly, not over-salted, fresh veggies, not oily. Chicken mushu and tofu with veggies were DELICIOUS. We even called the restaurant to tell them how good this was. Service was friendly, the order was ready early--all around a great experience. Take out was FAST, about 10 mins from order to food in hand on my way out the door. There's an open window so you can look in on the kitchen as food is being prepared. They also had a TV in the waiting area with the news on. i got the Szechuan eggplant and added in some grilled tofu. Tofu wasn't grilled, instead it was boiled, which wasn't a major disappointment. They add basil into the eggplant, which I saw when I ordered. Basil totally took over the dish and left me disappointed...I'd totally been craving this dish for days and didn't want to eat basil eggplant. Portion size was big, I think I split it into three meals. Fast order to food in hand. Beware though, the prices listed on their website are not what they charge you. Where do I start? Hands down the best Chinese food place around! I usually order the hot n sour soup (good, big pieces of chicken, tofu, mushrooms... and flavored perfectly!) with an order of egg rolls. It's reasonably priced, and just enough food to split. The lemon chicken is an entire chicken breast sliced. The tangy lemon sauce is perfect! The only chicken dish I like better is the orange chicken. It's spicy, comes with broccoli and has more of a "kick" to it. Really anything you order here is excellent. And I can go for years without eating here and the waiter still remembers what kind of soup I want and what I like to drink! Come in during the week for their lunch specials! That way you can try more of everything for one low price! This really is the place to go in Sausalito (or anywhere in the Bay Area) for Chinese food. Came here with the family after the Bay Area Discovery Museum after searching for nearby restaurants. The lady at the counter saw our 2 year old som and suggested we sit by the aquarium. I love this place. The dishes are generous; tasty, savory, pan-Asian, rather than pure Schezuan cooking. The glass wall between the kitchen & dining area, coupled with the two amazing saltwater aquariums bring an atmosphere you simply don't find in Marin restaurants. Combined with the warm hospitality Owner Annie brings to Tommy's Wok and you just smile, while enjoying the cuisine. Favorites include the curry soup or hot & sour (and the comments about it being to sour, are just plain wrong-it was perfect); the lamb, Singapore or Hong Kong noodle dishes remind me of my days growing up in Singapore and pure, white breast meat with just the right amount of spiciness -yum! Just had two soups and two appetizers to go for dinner. The Wah Wonton soup was very good. The Deluxe Seafood soup was anything but deluxe. A total of two prawns and two scallops was all the seafood in it. Soggy dead vegetables in a gloppy egg drop soup. Tasteless. Threw out more than half of it. The Pot Stickers were pretty good. The Green Onion Pancakes were probably the worst I've ever had at any Chinese restaurant. Conspicuously missing any substantial quantity of green onions in these eight small pieces of dull, tasteless pancakes that looked like they had been sitting around for days. A couple of basically inedible bites and they went into the trash. This small meal was a wasted $50+ I can now add Tommy's Wok to the list of restaurants serving incredibly bad Chinese food in Marin County. read more

This place was the only Dimsum place open on a Monday on the Sonoma-Marin side of the Bay, so we tried it out. We ordered all the Dimsum choices but they didn't have the sticky rice, just their version of Peking Duck, Shrimp Dumplings, Pork Siomai, and Pork Buns, and we got the Seafood Hong Kong style noodles. I wanted the Pea sprouts but they did not have that as well. Everything was decent but the Siomai...they were too hard for my liking. The spicy vinegar they gave for the dimsum was yummy! Overall flavor was good in the noodles, ingredients were solid and fresh.... had to let it sit to get the right amout of crunch/sog in my noodles because they strictly fry all the noodles, not just half or a portion like some places. My favorite dish was the Duck Buns a definite good go to. This sufficed our Dimsum craving...would I come back, probably not, but if I lived local, yes most likely because choices are slim. Overall a solid place to have decent chinese food for the money and location. If you can drive all the way into SF, then take the extra 10 minites to get the Richmond or Sunset district where Dimsum is rampant!! read more

This is our to go to For Chinese food. The food is so fresh and full of flavor. The staff is sooo attentive and nice too. I recommend really everything on the menu, never had a dish disappoint. The female owner is so gracious and kind. Everything is delicious and carefully crafted. Best kept secret in Marin! That's the beginning of things to love about Tommy's Wok. That and the clean cheerful surroundings, the helpful staff and number one; all vegital ingredients are organic and all meat ingredients are free range, beef grass fed. To me this is a very important feature and I know I am not the only one saying so! We got the Crab Fried Won Tons, the Lemongrass Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Won Ton Soup. All items were just so refreshing from the Chinese food that I am used to, that aftertaste, the stickiness and fakeness - none of that is present here. Just good honest flavors made from ingredients that fit the same description. I've called my chinese food take out place one too many times. They don't even ask who it is anymore. As they say, don't fix it if it ain't broke. My steamed veggie spinach wrap potstickers are fantastic. Light and flavorful, they're not greasy. No MSG, just veggies and a wonderful light slightly chewy wrap on the outside. I can still see what they made them with. There's no mystery, I know it's a carrot, and a mushroom and such. I order the singapore rice noodles, with no chicken or shrimp (I'm a vegetarian) and add soft tofu. It's killer. The light curry style sauce is perfect with a little hot mustard here and there sprinkled on the tofu and my chopsticks dig longingly into my dish until it's gone. My dishes and togo containers are always a barren sight when I'm around. No need to wash them as I've licked 'em clean. My friends love the hong kong style noodles, just a little greasy, just like you want it. Another set love the imperial chicken wrap lettuce cups. She still talks about how good they were from time to time. I like that I can finally eat chinese food, and not feel guilty. I am going to the gym afterwards anyway, but at least I don't have to tack on another forty-five minutes like I've eaten indian food or thai. The owner is polite and friendly, but it does take a minute to get cool with the rest of the staff. They're like a gang, once you're in you're in. I guess you just have to pass some initiations. Can you really drink that hot mustard in one gulp? I can I say you. I can. It's all a lie. I just really go there for the killer fish tank. For a change of venue, and some delicious, fresh Chinese food head over the bridge to Sausalito. Met the rents here for dinner to play catch up and how are you doing. Quick drive from S.F. to Tommy Wok's, one of the better Chinese eateries in Marin and restaurants over all. Located further down on Bridgeway, almost towards the free way. Parking is not a worry since you are away from the the tourist trap down town. Plus there is no good food down that away. Food here does not fit one type of Chinese specialty like Hunan or Szechuan (at least what a friend hinted towards). Everything here is fresh. Mango Chicken can be considered their signature dish, and they use organic, tasty mangoes. Not some bland canned ones. Start with a soup, either the Won Ton soup with big bits of shrimp, or the Seafood soup. Followed by Mongolian Lamb (this dish can be hot if you choose to eat all the peppers), Mango Chicken and Duck Lettuce Wraps. Service is quick and friendly. Tea and water glass is never left unattended. And colorful bendy straws are served with sodas. I got stuck with the pink one. On weekday nights Tommy Wok's is quiet because the take out is flowing. On weekends and Christmas Eve (last time I was there) be prepared to wait. Not a lot of sitting room, but it is worth it. I use to work accross the street at the Bridgeview complex. That being said, there is not much to eat in this area, but Tommy's was my favorite! I no longer work in the area, but if given the chance I'll drop by to order the Kung Pao Chicken. I don't really like KP Chicken, but for what ever reason I love their's. It's made with chicken breast, which I don't usually care for much, but it's pounded down so each bite is buttery soft. The KP sauce is delicious and it comes with a side of rice pancakes. O gawd, my mouth is watering... I wish they delivered to the East Bay. BTW, they have a small outdoor eating area that is dog friendly! read more

Our parents are visiting from Long Island and we were looking for a place to eat. Every place we drove past in the area was closed. Thankfully Tommy's Wok just opened. The owner, I think her name was Anne & Annie, seemed a bit uncomfortable when we came in. Perhaps many black people do not come in often. Our parents are very kind and everyone is drawn to them so she got the side eye from me. Well, one side eye. -_ Mom & sis order apps for their meal (mom got shrimp rolls, my sister got spare ribs) which they both loved. I ordered shrimp rolls, dim sum and orange chicken because I just had a kale smoothie for breakfast and was starving. All 3 were perfection. Dad ordered pot stickers. The female owner said "well you ordered this many apps and that is enough". Um excuse me Lady who made you the menu police? And hello not for nothing PATRONS ARE PAYING YOU. I will order the whole dang menu if I want! Also we were rushed after our meal which is normal with Chinese restaurants.
