He has not only been effective in teaching my son the rudiments of music and guitar, but he has succeeded to keep him motivated and always trying new things in music, including popular songs, soloing and music theory. I am very happy with how much my son enjoys playing guitar and his confidence to play and perform. Also, in the past when I was part of the music ministry team at my church, I took a series of voice lessons under Mary Ann. I learned a ton and my confidence and skill as a vocalist grew exponentially through her lessons and encouragement. Our family has had an excellent experience at Groovin' on Music and we plan to have my younger child start lessons there soon. Definitely recommend.

I found this place on CL where they offered two free (30 min ea) lessons-I've been wanting to learn how to play guitar so i seized the chance to check them out. My first instructor was Jordan. He was trained in classical music and had extensive experience playing/performing. Instructing was easy to follow & my homework was fun. Sadly he moved on but i was paired w/Bradley. His preferred style of music is similar to mine and I continue to have lessons with him. From both instructors, I've learned repetition & practice are key! I struggled with finger articulation but Bradley had suggested a variety of different exercises to improve my skills. Cost is very reasonable when compared to say the local Guitar Center music store. After my first two free lessons, i agreed to a 13 week course at $85 monthly. I'm almost done with my initial commitment but I intend to continue on. As a novice I'm eager to learn & this place hasn't disappointed. Check out there free lessons, what do you have to lose?

But the administrative side is hardly available. I called to ask about rates. 2 weeks go by. They said they would get me on the promotional rate. The rate was good, so I signed up. I would call or text whenever I knew I was going to miss a lesson, just wanting my instructor to know he could go home early. Days after my lesson, I would get a text saying "hey, no one was here but thanks for letting us know." No idea if my instructor was given a heads up. I had an emergency which required significant funds. I checked and my charge didn't go through which was embarrassing. At this point I realized my rate had increased significantly for a couple months. I hadn't had a lesson for the month yet. I called on the 3rd and you have to cancel by the first. I really liked my instructor and wasn't going to mention the rate increase. But they insisted that I pay for a month of lessons because of a technicality. I am only being petty because dude decided to be passive aggressive with me "It's unfortunate you didn't want to honor your agreement. We would have been happy to adjust your rate closer to the promotional rate." Why even play a sneaky rate increase game then? Just stick to the honest rate. You would keep a lot more students that way. I have to call in 4 months and ask them not to charge me more please? On top of that, I have to hope someone is even answers the phone. If the administrative side was functional, it wouldn't be difficult to send a courtesy email to notify students that promotions were ending. I truly hope most of my rate went to my instructor and not just some guy who owns a building. If you have kids, it may be worth it. Otherwise just look for an instructor you can build a personal relationship with that doesn't require a contract. Someone who understands that students come and go but will likely return if you don't try to squeeze them for money. If you do go, ask for Jordan. He is a sweetheart. Utterly distasteful business.

I went into this location looking for a guitar to play for my son's memorial service. I was…read moretraveling from the East Coast and didn't want to pay for the extra luggage, so I figured I could stop in, buy an inexpensive guitar, play it for the weekend, then find a gutter punk in need of a guitar and give it to them in memory of my son- who also was a gutter punk for parts of his life. Christian helped me out- super friendly and right there when I walked in with my other son. He heard my story and took all the time we needed to find just the right low-cost guitar for this purpose, all the while talking to me about my son, music, the shared nature of music and space and community. Another customer, Dave, was there too and got involved in our conversation. Sweet ol' guy with stories a'plenty! When time came to ring us up, Christian gave us a little discount because of the path this particular guitar was on. How kind! I was so moved. Then Dave stepped up and told Christian to put it on his bill. Amazing! Such kindness and generosity when a grieving mother needed it most- I cannot begin to express how much this meant to me and my family. To know others are here with us as we mourn, especially in this time of isolation, means so very much! After the weekend memorial with family was done, we took the guitar, a new capo, and some picks down to the park by the freeway. There were several groups of gutter punk kids there, but none in need of a guitar. So we went to Safeway to buy them all chicken and sodas and some cupcakes- figured my son would have wanted me to. In front of the Safeway was a couple with a dog, a cat and a backpack. Her name is Snail and he goes by St. Christopher. He had lost his guitar on their travels. So I went to the car, got "the guitar community built" and went back to them. Told them the story of my son- who he was, how kind he was, how he loved music (Tom Waits esp!)- and asked them to please not sell this guitar right away, but instead use it as long as they could and think of my son Jake traveling with them. They were in tears and I was so grateful to be able to celebrate my son with something that will be moving forward, changing peoples moods and attitudes when it is played. Thank you Christian and Dave for being part of a very important moment in my life- and a moment that is radiating out into the world, bringing music and joy with it!

I ordered the GRV6 online from Sweetwater for the same price as Guitar Center. The day after ordering, Sweetwater called me to thank me for my order and update me on shipping information. They thanked me for my business and were extremely professional and friendly- the COMPLETE opposite of all three employees inside Medford's Guitar Center. People that have negative experiences are much more likely to share them than those with good experiences. I am sharing my Guitar Center experience with everyone I can.

this was my first and last trip here, honestly just rude when i went in looking for something…read morespecific and didn't listen to what i was originally looking for. the older guy very attentive but when i got the help, he was just plain rude and treated me like trash. he was asking me questions to something not related to what i was looking for and then gave me smart mouth responses. not a good first impression. would not recommend to any newcomers and would rather go to guitar center instead for somewhat better treatment.
