My husband and I decided to branch out from our two favorite breakfast spots and chose Tom's. I had high hopes because it has been recommended a few times. Sadly we were not impressed. Throughout the meal we continued to hear the person working at the host stand talking about how the owner will not fix the water damaged, bulging ceiling tiles. Not my favorite topic of breakfast. The service was fast and we loved our server. She always had my cup of coffee full and checked on us a few times throughout the meal. Very personable! The food was less than ideal. My pancakes were thin, dense, and too crispy. Not the good crispy edge from butter on a griddle, but dry as if it has been under a warmer all morning. My over medium eggs were good, but the hash browns were lacking any flavor at all. My husband really liked his chicken fried steak, and at $4 it was well worth it. The portion size was huge! He also ordered a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich. I tried it and it also was lacking flavor. No real bacon flavor and could have used some salt. Good food and service and a great cup of coffee! I stopped in on a Saturday morning around 10 and grabbed a spot along the counter. I was greeted and got a cup of coffee right away. It didn't take long to decide on the Eggs Benedict which came with choice of several sides: I went with the fresh fruit. The place was nearly full, yet it wasn't that loud. It made waiting for my order pleasant. My coffee got topped off a couple times and I really appreciated that the temperature was immediately drinkable while providing a deep rich flavor. My order arrived along with my bill (my waitress hadn't asked if there would be anything else and also forgot to bring silverware.) I grabbed a napkin-rolled set of utensils from the counter and dug into my meal. The Canadian Bacon was thick cut and tasty. The eggs were poached to where there was just a small trickle of yolk when sliced. The Hollandaise Sauce was okay, but not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. The fruit was house cut, but wasn't the freshest. Still okay, but maybe it had been cut hours before. I appreciate that they provided a steak knife to facilitate cutting through the stack, including the English muffin on the bottom. Over priced and food would be better cooked at your home. 6.99 for one waffle. 2.99 for bacon and 3.00 hash browns so tiny it's not worth it. Asked for a English muffin with peanut butter one English muffin 2.99 peanut butter cup 2.00 I said no thanks. Went home to eat. This place will be closed soon. read more

Wow this was a DRASTIC change from our previous visit. I got the 2 eggs, 2 "pancakes" and 2 links. My husband got the protein omelette. Mine came with a huge scoop of fake butter on top of my fake boxed pancakes. They stuck to the roof of my mouth like peanutbutter. Generic great value syrup. There's an upcharge for egg whites or egg beaters but they made by husband's omelette with egg beaters (which he hates) I get saving money but don't charge us $26.00 plus tip for "Whipped Spread" aka butter and great value boxed pancakes. Came here because downtown Franklin was packed (which is a good thing), I had a clubhouse, my son had a philly cheesesteak and my wife had a reuben. I noticed my wife did not eat the majority of her sandwich. I asked to look at it, the corned beef had gone bad and smelled. I brought the matter up the manager......a brusque Russian women and she said she would give me ten percent off. The food was inedible. Nice lil diner with decent food but they charge 75 cents for lettuce and tomatoes, not together, EACH. When the register didn't automatically charge me when they added lettuce they created a new item charge for the 75c. I'm not hurting too bad from it but I was just taken back by the little greed monster. I've eaten here a couple times and either never noticed this or it more likely might just be some of the waitresses who charge this way. Went here for breakfast earlier today, not too bad of a place but not great either. I checked in on Yelp and started reading some of the reviews.... First, was not happy to see this is owned by flapjacks, not a fan of that place at all. Second, the pancakes were just as someone else have said hard and I'll add they were not even warm. The bacon and eggs were nothing to brag about as well. Now why am I giving this place three stars you ask? Well the service was actually great and all very super nice! Did not have to wait for food very long as I was very hungry. So far as I'm concerned, if they could get the food up to a bragging state then they might pull some better ratings. I placed an order online and should have checked the bag when I picked it up because they forget part of my order. The system to wait for tables is very manual, the hostess just tries to remember who came when, so since it was busy, I saw other parties get leap frogged. I don't understand why she wasn't keeping a list on a busy day. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. I had eggs, pancakes, bacon hash browns, and coffee. Just visited this place in franklin, in. The food was "meh" but what really sparked my attention was the racial comments our server kept making about the cooking staff. Connie was our server, per our receipt. She made several comments to me directly about the "Spanish" staff and how they don't know what their doing and maybe she should learn to speak Spanish and maybe they should go back to school and oh yeah they didn't go to school. I go to this restaurant a lot since it is cheap and so close to home however the last time I went in April after swiping my card to pay for my meal the woman starts writing down my card number as well without my permission. I told her to stop and asked why she was doing this and she continued and stated it was for the bank. I looked back a week later and shockingly I was charged 2x for my meal. Now they have my card number written down somewhere. I do not feel comfortable going to this restaurant anymore and will not go back. If you love waiting around holding your baby in your arms this is the place for you. I've been there a few times and every time the hostess is rude and also never gets us a high chair. Then you get to wait around while waitress tends to another table for about 15 minutes while there's other waitresses standing around. Was at a table of 5 at 9:30 on Sunday morning. Wait staff was kind and attentive. Breakfast came out in pieces with some forgotten and some late. Food came out cool. Asked for hash browns to be burnt, and they we not even quite done. Bacon was limp. Cashier was totally unfriendly and put out as she tossed my credit card, pen and receipt at me. We had a terrible experience with this establishment today. The food was not terrible (nothing special) but what made us decide to never come back was the way the owner and the waitresses decided to handle the loss of their credit card machine due to an internet outage. They ran out of slips to do manual card information, so they were telling everyone that we had to pay with cash. Again, we understood and realized this wasn't their fault, but then the owner demanded keys to make people walk to an ATM to ensure they came back to pay and were NOT nice about it at all. The waitresses were helping the owner to hold people's keys and were snippy, rude, and not to mention unlawful about the whole situation. They are very lucky they didn't try to hold my husband's keys because he would not have been so nice about it like the other people. I will never ever go back to this place again. I went in at 12 noon on 1/28/2019. Only 2 people already eating in the whole place. That should have told me something right there. The person that waited on me acted like she did not want to be there. I yelled back if you would do your job i would not have had to get my food that was sitting there for 17 minutes. " She yelled again that she was waiting on customers. NO SHE WAS NOT SHE WAS TALKING TO HER FRIEND THAT GOT INTO THE CASH REGISTER WHEN SHE WALKED INSIDE!!! THE FOOD WAS COLD AND CONGEALED. I asked for my check and she told me to get out and I did not need to pay. Fine it was not worth any money to me anyway. I think the Health Dept needs to make a surprise visit here. I saw some things they would have gave Critical marks for. Next call is to the Health Dept and the Daily Journal. I live in Franklin and will be sure to let everyone I know how I was treated. I tried to call 3 times at what I thought would be their busiest time to talk to the Owner or the Manager. Every time I was told they were not on the premises. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE. It was overflowing with onion and green pepper which drowned out any taste. Did not matter as could not/should not eat it period as the "hash browns" were RAW and cold. I was very disappointed in this place. The steak and eggs meal was nasty. My steak was ordered well done. When they brought it out, they had not cooked it properly. It was practically raw. Sent it back to be redone. Waited the entire length of the meal before they brought out the replacement just as we were about to leave. My eggs were ordered hard fried.
