I have used Tom's Shoe Repair for 43 yrs. I believe we are on the 3rd owner since Tom passed 20 or so yrs ago? The newest owner is impeccable as he literally rebuilt my favorite flats and they are like new out of the box. Had these waterproof Redwing Maxbond boots for several years now. They only get used when I have to work in the rain. The old soles had worn and become unusable. Instead of sending to redwing for warranty repair I decided I wanted to have the soles completely changed as I prefer a wedge sole over the old heel type. This shop did an amazing job transforming these boots to a wedge sole. They even cleaned and left them to almost New condition. Super fast turnaround. Was less than a week. read more

I had a excellent experience at Toms shoe repair. Tom repaired my and my wife's boot soles and heels attached that had come loose. Our boots were expertly repaired and I have given my boots a work out in very hilly terrain . Our boots were returned very nicely tidied up, my work boots were cleaned up beyond expectations. Excellent value for my money. We are completely satisfied and happy to refer to Toms business. Took a black leather DKNY backpack in to have the straps shortened. It didn't hang on me correctly at all. The bags straps narrowed on the adjustable end so the bag had to be opened at the top seam to shorten the straps; he had to remove SEVERAL INCHES of those straps. I was SO nervous about having this done. I LOVE the bag and didn't want it butchered. Got on yelp and read his good reviews; it's the only reason I took my bag to this guy. He did a PERFECT job. I used Tom's shoe repair to fix two purses. I was told he'd replace the strap with a leather strap and paid accordingly but he was not able to color match with leather and instead used pleather which will not last as long. Given the price we paid and the very poor communication about the situation, I do not feel we received a good value for the repair and would not have had him do the work had the situation been explained properly. I cannot speak to his work on shoes and I sincerely think he is an honest person but his communication was very poor and I think he misrepresented the repair. My podiatrist gave me an RX for a shoe lift. Took to this place - half the time he was never there even though the sign on his door gave hours and he was not there as posted. When I called to pick up my shoe, he said he would be there at this time and when I went down - he was NOT there - a liar. Got my shoe back and when I went back to doctor he checked my shoe and said that it was NOT the correct size that he gave in the RX. This jerk made it too high and I was having hip pain and the podiatrist said that my right hip was higher than the left - which would cause pain. I would NEVER recommend this place - he is careless, sloppy, dirty, unprofessional, doesn't give a shit about his work and a liar. And I paid him promptly because you had to pay IN ADVANCE. - not organized ( can't find my boots and I had to go and do his job - very irresponsible with the time. He told me "should be done in a week" Came back 4 ( FOUR times !) whole month until they were ready. Different excuse every time. Too busy, not having the bottom of the boots, something with his helper has being skipping work, etc. - the agreement was $70 and I though it was little too much but because he said they were going to be ready in a week I need it since those are my waterproof shoes and I was going to the snow and it rained the whole weekend here in riverside so I decided to pay that. after 4 times going to "pick my boots" The drive, wast gas, and time I asked for a discount and his answer was " no discount, if you don't like the price you can take your boots like that ( that was when he told me they were half way done ) very rude from his part. Update: I don't use my boots much but today is maybe the 5th time using them after getting them repair and the sole is coming off ( the glue is done and image said he will sow and he did not! I literally bought a pair of boots & brought them directly to him. I wanted to know if it was possible to make the boots fit my leg... He said yes. I was thrilled to pay the $40 it would cost (bringing the grand total of my boots to $95) if it meant I would have boots that fit for once! I have terribly skinny calves... Anyway, he said to come back in a week. I did. Then he told me to come back in another week, that he was still working on them & I was going to be very happy with the results. 2 weeks later, when I finally got my boots, they were ruined! He frankensteined them together after cutting them apart, poorly I might add. He used black vinyl to visibly patch the seams on my brown boots. Not to mention, they looked goofy. Something about them didn't sit right anymore. When they were brought back to him, he was very apologetic. He even refunded all my money. In May 2015, I brought in two pairs of heels to have repaired.. I was told the shoes would be ready in two days (on a Friday). When I came to pick them up, neither pair was ready. I was asked to come back the following week and was infuriated. I was going out of town and the whole point of getting the shoes repaired was so I could bring them with me. I gave Tom an additional week to repair my shoes. When I returned, only one pair was ready for pick up. I asked what the hell was going on with my other shoes and he sheepishly asked that I return the following week. On top of it all - he STILL charged me full price ($30) for his services. read more

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST place to get your shoes repaired. My husband took his shoes to get repaired a month and a half ago and they broke, where the repair was, yesterday. The older gentleman, I think his name is Jim, wouldn't repair his repair and wanted us to pay him for a full repair again. Then "Jim" started to got an attitude so my husband asked him if he was going to stand behind his work and he just ignored him and so my husband said again, Hey so you're not going to stand behind your work then? The WORST Experience I have ever had. I brought a pair of shoes in to have the straps replaced with longer ones. The owner said that it would be 30.00 and that he would need to order the material and they would be done in 3 days. When I went back he didn't know where my shoes where and when he finally found them barried under a mess of shoes he hadn't even started the repair. He said I can wait and he'd have them done in 30 min. As he was trying to make the straps I heard him yelling and he started througing random shoes all over the place and that he said messed them up. I said that's Ok as things happen and that I'd wait for him do it again and he yelled that it's Not Ok and that he can't work for Free and I said that I already paid him. I said that if it's a tougher job I would pay more but he just kept going on and on yelling how he can't work for Free and that he wouldn't do it. He damaged the shoes so I went to another shoe repair "Canyon Crest Shoe Repair" and the fixed them and added the longer straps PERFECT. GOOD LUCK with this place!!!! read more
