I go to Parsons and for my final project for Creative Studio Tech with Professor LAlvani I was confused and did not know where to start. So I went there just to see and I was astonished by all the panels and variety of pleats they had. You would not know where to start there. They showed me three of their thousands and thousands of panels and the ideas and possibilities kept flourishing into my mind. Not only you can choose from their collection of pleats but you can also INVENT AND CREATE A PLEAT and ask them to create the panel for it!!!! How amazing is that. You will become a great designer instantly. I took a roll of 23 yards of satin to them and asked them to pleat the whole roll in 7 days and they even said that they can do only half but can you believe it when I tell you that THEY FINISHED ALL IN A WEEK?????? George was so amazingly helpful in creating the pleats for my wedding dress. I wanted something very avant-garde -- metallic gold pleats intertwined with off-white silk pleats. Needless to say, it was complicated. A friend who had offered to make and hand pleat my dress completely ruined about $300 of silk. George, with his wealth of knowledge, saved my dress. I bought new fabric and he advised me on the best pleats for my dress as well as some construction tips to pass on to my dress maker. I would definitely recommend seeing George BEFORE you start your project and invest in fabric. He can help you troubleshoot the construction and advise you on the best materials and techniques to achieve the result you want. I recently found International Pleating while browsing for fabric on Etsy. After viewing their extensive and varied collection, I sent a request asking to purchase a random sampling of their wares. Right away, George responded to my unconventional request saying he was sure they could help me. (I had no idea I was conversing with "The Man" of international pleating fame.) The next day, Lanii, George's (most efficient assistant, possibly possessing super powers herself) told me my box was ready and she needed to know my favored shipping method.
