She was both knowledgeable and transparent. Also, she paid attention to details while not making me feel rushed at all. She noticed when I walked by the YSL colognes that I wanted to purchase a YSL cologne for my BF but he loved certain scents of the brand and strongly disliked other scents and I did not recall which one was which. So I commented in passing "I'll have to bring him back in person to get the cologne". While I was checking out Jazmin dropped some YSL cologne samples in the bag and my BF ended up really liking one scent- so now I know which cologne to purchase! I trusted Michael and had him ship them to me; I didn't even need to come in; it was a very premium experience. The second time I purchased a suit, the experience was exactly the opposite. The woman who helped me seemed uninterested. She really didn't want to help at all. Given her brash, unenthusiastic behavior, I was hoping to go through the process myself, so I asked if she could pull up the profile Michael had made for me. Turns out they only save the customer measurement details for a year now. Seems ridiculous to save money on basic data storage rather than keeping customer records to expedite and provide good service. When I was trying on the suit, I felt rushed, and she never made me feel confident, which is always appreciated when making a big-ticket purchase. She didn't show me options or explain anything beyond saying the old color I had was no longer available, and the one I was holding was the new version they carried. When I received the suit 2 weeks later, the alterations were sloppy as well. Loose threads and not packed well. You'd think it was a $200 means warehouse rental I received. Just got another suit this month and found out I can get a made-to-measure custom suit in Soho for 30% less! They lost a lifetime customer, as I have been buying suits from Nordstroms since I lived in Chicago starting in 2014.

The downside is that the dressing rooms don't have a seat inside and due to a knee injury i had to wait a long time for the only stall to become available. The dressing room area is extremely busy and the staff appeared overwhelm with the consumption of clothes left behind by customers. The space in the store is good, nothing appears cluttered or scattered and the floors are kept clean. Needed to use the restroom and that is also an area that only has one per gender and the lines become a bit much. Due to the restrooms overuse it definitely requires additional cleaning to maintain it clean and stocked with toiletries. Overall ok experience, I was not asked if I needed assistance by a staff member.

Additionally. everything's either being neatly organized or stacked on most of the shelves and inside drawers except for a couple of areas here and there. The price range is reasonable for most apparel items besides the thick puffer jackets + sweaters + graphic tees. Even though there seem to be signs for the fitting room and cashiers/self-checkout, it's still pretty confusing to walk around and find stuff imo because of how large the Uniqlo space is. I have to flag down and ask different staff about the whereabouts of cashiers as I'm paying with cash. There's a bit of a line for those paying by cash despite several 5-6 cashiers being present while no line at all for self-checkout (card only). No line for the fitting room though. Generally, staff is shown as helpful + amiable + patient in a professional manner towards customers. My favorite section is probably by the heattech area. There're 3 various heattech types of warmth for both adults and children. Of course you can wear whichever layer as you please at the end of the day. All the desired temperatures are simply suitable for preferred reference anyway. Thomas Pink goes down on Turnbull and Asser like the cheap shirt that they are. Turnbull and Asser is the epitome of class and style. Just walking through the doors of the shop in New York, mentally transports you to there London shop and just oozes history,style,class and service and all done somehow in a modern way. It is the greatest clothier ever made. Also, It is made in England not in some South American sweat shop like Thomas Pink and every other "shirtmaker" in the world. Fashion designers blow. This isn't fashion, it's style.... And not to mention that they dress james Bond? C'mon, every guy, gay or straight wants to be James Bond. Here is what you get when you order a custom suit from Mr. Ned:…read more Varham, son of the founder Ned, takes your measurements and quizzes you gently about what sort of suit you have in mind. They will make you any sort suit you want -- there isn't an enforced house style -- although Varham will steer you away from any utterly wrongheaded decisions. The measurements are applied to a pre-existing block pattern that best matches the cut you've specified. Second fitting is with just the basted body of the jacket to allow for significant alterations. Final fitting has the collar and sleeves already set, the trousers completed, with just the buttonholes and fine tweaking remaining. Total turnaround time is roughly 6-8 weeks; total cost using standard super 100/120 fabric is $850; functioning sleeve buttons and hand finishing along the lapel will run you $50 a piece. This is not true custom/bespoke given that they are working off an existing pattern. That said, I have to imagine they're drawing from a great multitude of proprietary patterns in order to accommodate all the sizes and shapes coming through their door. Moreover, all work is done on the premises, and the owner takes the measurements personally and shepherds your suit through every stage of production. In my mind, that's about as close as you're going to get to custom at a price that's remotely affordable without a finance job. Now am I happy with my first suit from Mr. Ned? Frankly, I am a tiny bit ambivalent. On the plus side: the trousers are fantastic and are perfect not just in fit but are of a piece with the ensemble. The back of the jacket and the sleeves exhibit terrific fit and drape. Finally, the lapel has a kind of graceful flow that says, "I am wearing a custom made garment!" to anyone sensitive to this strain of vanity. My criticism involves a rather imperfect drape to the sides and a lack of polish in the details due to the garment being largely machine made (although all the critical components like the sleeves are set by hand). At my final fitting, Varham pointed out this was my first suit with them. Implicitly the second suit would be an improvement, at least in the fit department. For most readers, $850 is a lot to spend on something that is only the first step towards a perfect fitting suit. For me, it's justifiable in that I wear suits for work constantly. I require a garment that is not only truly comfortable, but can withstand the wear and tear of NYC life; my suit is made from 14 oz Scabal Super 100 which is some pretty tough wool - it feels like a military uniform. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I wear my Mr. Ned suit more than any other. I feel more confident, thinner, smarter, etc. It's hard to put a price on materialistically driven self-worth, right? More objectively, Mr. Ned is widely regarded as the best game in town for custom suits under a $1,000. He knows his craft, delivers the goods on time, and makes the garments in NYC. I can't think of anyone else that can even come close to offering that kind of value for money. Cool Trivia: Mr. Ned is the preferred tailor of film director Wes Anderson and made all the suits for the Royal Tenembaums.

I have had three suits made here. Despite the fact that Varahm is a nice guy and they use union…read morelabor and treat their employees well, I Will never go back. The first suit I had made turned out too boxy for my taste, but I recognize that as my fault since I was new to the custom clothing world and simply didn't know what I wanted well enough to express my opinion on the matter. That said, there were construction problems that rest on Ned's shoulders. Most notably, the lapel was not sewn properly and so there are dramatic, unsightly ripples at the notch. Also, despite being boxy, the jacket is incredibly uncomfortable. I can not wear it for mroe than thirty or forty minutes while working at the computer without cramping in my upper back. This suit sits in my closet and I wear it maybe 2 times a year. The second suit I had made turned out better. This was because I was clear about my likes and dislikes with respect to the previous suit. While the cut is more to my liking, there were construction problems that really detract from the suit. Most notably, the suit came with a small hole in the crotch. Seriously. Also significant, the shoulders were cut differently and so the whole thing doesn't look uniform. Arg. I wear this suit when I want to look decent, but don't care if something bad happens to my clothes. (i.e., I might wear it to a wedding reception where it is likely to have a drink spilled on it, but never to a fancy dinner or an interview) Less you think they get better the more you work with them. The third suit was a total disaster. The sleeves were opened for buttons then inexplicably sewn all the way shut. The sleeves were attached in such a way to make me look like a zombie while wearing it. The fit was a weird combination of boxy and too tight. Literally unwearable. I simply gave the jacket away and now have one pair of very, very expensive suit pants. For labor-friendly alternatives try Martin Greenfield in Brooklyn or Samuelson made suits from Paul Stuart.

Mueser offers a wide range of suiting options including Ready to Wear, Custom/MTM and a proper in-house made Bespoke. I live outside of the USA but return often for work. I was in the market for a new suit and as I have an athletic build with broad shoulders and chest with a thin waist. Any suit I buy off the rack requires extensive alterations to look presentable. J. Mueser came highly recommended by one of the best-dressed men I know. I did my research and the choice was clear that J. Mueser was worth a try. I sent an email and received a prompt response from Jake. Jake was cordial and immediately let me know that he would do everything possible to make himself available on my visits to his shop. Jake was so accommodating that on the morning of one of my fitting appointments I had to come in 30 minutes before our agreed upon time. Jake was able to open the shop early for me without any difficulty. At the initial consultation, Jake and I talked about his selection of suiting options. Jake is so easy-going and the vibe of the shop is so cool that I could have talked to him for hours. I wanted to have a full Bespoke suit made but given that I would not be able to have the serial fitting done in a timely manner (do to my traveling) so I opted for the Custom option. After we decided on the fabric and color Jake took a detailed set of measurements and I was on my way. Jake contacted me several weeks later and let me know that the suit was in his possession and looked beautiful. I excitedly returned to the US, 6 months after my initial consultation excited to see my suite. I stopped by the busy shop a week before Christmas and the suite was everything I had hoped for. The suit seemed to fit perfectly as I tried it on for the first time but Jake spotted a few areas that needed some adjusting. He completed the adjustments and when I returned two weeks later I tried the suit on again. I was amazed by the difference the seemingly small adjustments made to the fit of the suit. Overall I would certainly say that J. Meuser exceeded my expectations and I always get at least one compliment on the suit every time I wear it. I will certainly purchase again from J. Meuser and I would not hesitate to recommend that you have at least one J. Meuser suit in your wardrobe.

So while the store is small, they only need to display one of each garment, and they keep all the sizes in back. My sales person was ready to find that perfect fit.

Regardless: Steven Alan makes the best shirts known to man, and this closet showcased that. They also had some pants and underwear. Great service. The attendant obviously knew a lot about menswear in general and had good suggestions for other places to go in the area for other clothes. Felt about as boutiquey as I can handle, and I loved it. I'd say worth the money if you can spare it (and if not, UNIQLO's not far off!)

Ok so their ties aren't very good - they're either too bulky or kind of boring. But for men's dress…read moreshirts (and even some suits and sport coats), they've got some decent, if somewhat high end, deals. Plus I have to admit that I brought back a shirt here recently that I had just purchased the day prior and the woman didn't even blink. I had all these excuses in mind so I wouldn't have to fight about it and then just ended up telling her the truth (the seam was less 'formal' than I was looking for) because she was so good about it. They used to have a much larger store on 5th ave but that's been shut down. This place near 55th St. is your best bet now.
