CONTRACT TRAP, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! After 4 years of being a loyal client they wouldn't waive last 2 month of the contract due to Covid-19!! They closed the place and switched to online classes and that isn't working for us at this time and we didn't initially sign up for virtual classes!! I contacted instructor Miron from Dacula location and he advised there are two months in my contract and after that I can cancel. I tried to explain there are only two months left of 4 years, but he said (verbally) "yes i can cancel the contract but I wouldn't do it!" At this point I couldn't continue the conversation anymore with that mentality or the attitude! They have no empathy and they didn't even try to keep a loyal customer through the difficult time from business perspective. Covid 19 is the time where you can see how businesses handle their clients and employees!! They teach courtesy But have no courtesy whatsoever during this tough time on everyone !! It is sad that they chose 2 months worth of money versus a loyal client who once considered this place family!! I trusted this place with my son for 4 years and I was wrong, this place has no values or principles to teach your kids, it's all blah blah blah to get your money. That's all! Kick Dacula has been an amazing experience for my son, Christian. From day one, the instructors have been patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in the kids. They do a great job balancing discipline with fun, which keeps the children engaged while still teaching respect, focus, and self control. What I appreciate most is how intentional they are with each child. Christian has grown so much in confidence, listening skills, and physical coordination since starting. The instructors take the time to correct, motivate, and celebrate progress without making any child feel singled out or discouraged. The environment feels safe, structured, and positive. You can tell this is more than just a martial arts school, it is a place where character development actually matters. As a parent, that means everything to me. This school has been a Godsend for our family. As to any negative reviews regarding contracts, they are explained completely before you sign them. It's your responsibility to read and understand contracts before you sign them. Not liking the conditions of the contract is not an excuse for a negative review. As to Tonchu Dacula, I have been so impressed by the changes I've seen in my son. Other schools seemed a bit crowded. The instructors here are invested in my kiddo. They know his name and what he struggles with at home and at school. They encourage him and admonish him when necessary. It's the support this single mom needed. We even had a birthday party here. They worked so hard and the kids had a ball. My child is learning skills to help him succeed in life. He is learning patience and self control. His self-discipline is improving. This is the first review that I have ever posted. But I can speak for my wife and I that we have all enjoyed the experience that our son has gone through while on his journey to become a black belt. Our son attends the DACULA location which is the two time champion (2014,2015) of Tonchu Academies. Which is a reflection of the great work the instructors are doing with the student's. I also would like to share an experience while at a recent testing where my son's instructor called out my son for something he was not doing right at home which he took to heart and has been improving ever since. Absolutely phenomenal! I recently began taking classes at the Dacula location and I feel like it was one of the best decisions I could have made. The instructors are very professional as well as courteous and friendly. The curriculum does not focus on just martial arts, it also focuses on becoming a better individual physically, mentally, and emotionally. As a student, you progress at your own rate, and are not subjected to ridiculous standards that demotivate you. It is something not just for young children, but also for teens and adults. Both my of children, ages 8 and 5, love attending classes here! My daughter's confidence has grown tremendously and my son's focus has gotten so much better. The skills obtained for our children to defend themselves if needed are invaluable. The instructors are awesome and personable. We love chatting with them and they always give great advice in a constructive way for our children. They genuinely care about the family's quality of life. The instructors are friendly and work well with the children. Howeve, most of them don't take it easy and truly push the kids to be the best version of themselves. Unlike many schools, students are not just handed a belt for showing up. Failure is definitely a possibility if a student declines to demonstrate their teachings. This lesson is reinforced both verbally and practically. Yet, children receive plenty of positive motivation as well. Love Tonchu! My son has been training there for 9 months and looks forward to going every week. While they train in martial arts, it goes well beyond that. They are teaching my son to be the best person he can be by putting a focus on respect, behavior, discipline, courage, etc. I'm so glad we found them! we've been delighted to take our kids going on two years. the support we receive with discpline between the karate studio, school and at home is the most helpful tool kit we can ask for. kids today lack basic manners and courtesy, but at tonchu they're teaching true morality and respect to all of their students. it's always clean and inviting in the lobby. the instructors are amazing! This place is GREAT. They have been so patient and encouraging with my 7 yo daughter. Sometimes she gets anxious about participating, but they always let her come at her own pace, encouraging her to sit and watch or inviting her to participate in the parts she wants to. They are fun and silly with the kids, but serious when appropriate. Perfect combo for this age. After two months, she is excited to go and now is going to the winter break camp. read more
