My husband and I have been getting Toninos Della Nona pizza and antipasto salad every Friday night for the past several years. It is the absolute best! I went there to try because my husband ate at their place in Jonestown Rd for lunch. I am extremely picky when it comes to my pizza and the crust and sauce and have yet to find a place, until now! This pizza was the best I've had in this area since I've moved here 14 years ago. If you're driving through 11/15 on your way through stop by the Giant plaza and give them a try it's well worth it. Everywhere we have been stationed around the world, we would search for the best pizza. Always wood fired or stone ovens. Since our favorite, and the best pizza in town is closed, we relied on reviews for the next best place to get pizza from. This place had 4.8 stars. Maybe their meals are ok, but this is the worst pizza we have ever had. A scattering of toppings which ran down to the center of the pie, because the grease chased it! Crust so wet, that you couldn't get a full slice out of the pie...it fell apart. The salad, mostly fresh, had the ends of the tomatoes in it and were over ripe. Learned our lesson. We figured we'd give this place a try, since it was new. We are big pizza lovers, so we try to give everyone a shot. The girl took our order, and we sat down. While waiting for our pizza, I sat and watched the employees interact. There is definitely a need for an "adult" there, because throughout the whole visit they screwed around. Only one employee worked non-stop while we were there. The table that came in after us got their pizza before us. My husband thought maybe they called ahead. After waiting 32 minutes, I walked up to the counter and told the girl I had been waiting over 30 minutes for a medium pepperoni pizza. She took a look at the order on top of the oven and asked if our order was to go (We told her twice at the register that we were eating in). She asked the other employees if they made the pizza to go. Another gentleman walked over and asked what I ordered and I told him. He apologized and said they put it on the oven to go (I watched them put that pizza up there 5 minutes earlier, because I thought it was ours, but then I saw them put it in a box. Turns out it was ours). They brought us out mini cannolis to apologize. The girl constantly ate and drank the whole time we sat there, and never washed her hands after. I'm not even sure what exactly she did, because for the most part she just laughed with the boys, and let them do the work. I did watch her take slices of pizza and put toppings on them, and put them in the over (where she burned herself). Not once did I see her wash her hands after doing anything earlier. I watched the one guy make a sauce (which I found out later was the stuff he was making for our free cannolis). I watched him pour a little bit in cups for everyone to try. He must have gotten some of the sauce on the side of the cup, because he wiped it off with his finger and then licked it. Later, I watched the girl hold a tin coffee cup like container. She moved it back and forth, while the other guy threw Pens in it. The other guy picked up the one dropped and threw it at him. At no time did any of them wash their hands before going back to work. I also watched the two guys that were throwing the pens play hitting in the kitchen. A customer came in the side door and they were all in the kitchen area talking, so it was a good minute before anyone noticed she was there. I don't know that we'd go back. The pizza was ok, but overly salty and greasy. Not worth the experience to come back. read more

We love this pizza! Lots of options for slices on the go. We have visited quite a few times and the pizza is always consistently good. My family sticks to cheese or pepperoni. Always just the right ratio of cheese to sauce. We like a like a nice thin crust that is a tad chewy with a snap when you bite into it and this fits the bill! There are thicker crust options as well. My husband also really likes their meatball sub and our daughter loves the chicken parmesan. Of Italian descent myself, I can say that everything tastes very homemade. Very friendly and efficient staff. Order and pay at the counter and they bring it over to you. The owner is right there working along with the crew. It's a small little place with not too many tables, clean & plenty of parking. It's family favorite for us. read more

New pizza joint in a new plaza. Ordered to go pasta meals - eggplant rollatini (excellent!), and shrimp scampi, chicken Marsala, and veal Marsala. Upon arriving home, the latter three meals were found to be completely sauceless. Luckily, we live close by, so I took the three meals back to the restaurant to inquire as to the lack of sauce. The bro working the register offered to remake the three meals, but not wanting to be wasteful, we agreed that he would simply make up the sauces in a pan and add them to the take-out containers. The remedial sauces were very thin and watery, which was disappointing. I'm pretty non-combative, so I didn't press the issue. Maybe we'll try pizza sometime, but no more pasta from this place for us. The pizzas on the counter looked OK, but didn't appear to have the fluffy risen crust that Vennari's has. The "Stromboli" appeared to be a flat, flat, flat impersonation of the typical dough pocket one usually expects. Definition of insanity. I really cannot make myself understand why I continue to go back to this place for anything other than a single slice of pepperoni pizza. My order is always worth getting in the car again to go back and complain about it (I just don't always do it). The first pizza I ordered here was literally mush in the middle; I guess three toppings is too much. I've been getting tuna sandwiches that are always toasted to "hard as a rock!" I've even had the pleasure of having my sandwich toasted WITH the lettuce. There are sanitation issues I try so hard to ignore, like the guy making my entire sandwich without gloves on. Food is subpar, at best...well, except the single slice of pepperoni pizza IF the crust isn't overdone or it hasn't been sitting out all day on a slow day. read more

this may have been the worst pizza I ave ever had. i bought a large pepperoni with extra cheese to go. i carried it to the car placed on passenger seat drove 15 min to my house. got out of the car picked up my pizza and saw all the grease was soaking into my car seat. tried to sop up the grease from my seat. once I was done with the cleanup , I decided to try a piece of the pie only to find a big ball of grease and the only dough edible was the crust. read more

Specifically, the prosciutto/arugula pizza is like nothing else I've found in a 100-mile radius. Have tried a few other pizzas and been equally delighted with fresh ingredients, superb crust, and overall masterful blending of flavors. It's making me salivate a bit just to think about them. We did not observe all the (pretty disgusting) employee habits described in other reviews here, but found the staff to be very young, very friendly, and extraordinarily, (seemingly inexcusably) slow. I'd encourage them to provide time estimates when orders are placed - waiting 45 min for a pizza is pretty absurd, and having a warning might give potential customers a choice to walk before committing, since pizza is considered by most to be a quick meal. read more
