It's been a few years since this incident happened, but I've finally had time to sit down and write a review. A friend recommended that I go to Tony to set a new loose diamond into the engagement ring my husband (then fiancé) proposed to me with. Since our style had evolved during our two-year engagement, we decided to update the ring- switching from gold prongs to white gold and adding a hidden halo. We trusted Tony to handle both the new diamond and the updated setting at the same time. I did receive my ring later than the originally agreed timeline, but at the time, I didn't think much of it and assumed everything was fine. However, when I later brought my ring to a reputable jeweler in the Bay Area for an appraisal, they examined it under magnification and pointed out multiple issues. The basket and prongs were poorly constructed, the diamonds were improperly set, and there were visible cracks throughout the setting- issues that were clearly not caused by normal wear and tear. I contacted Tony shortly after to address these concerns, and he asked me to bring the ring back for him to inspect. At that point, however, I had already lost confidence and did not feel comfortable returning, given the time, money, and trust I had already invested. I come friday and he said he suggest to plate it with gold. why the hell would i want to plate it with gold when it would just rub off eventually. Tony is one of those jewelry places that will try to prey on an uninformed individual. I bought a Franco chain 18k white gold from him a year ago, along with a custom bail work. The bail work was not perfect in terms of quality finishing. I trusted his quality of work and believed you got what you paid for. The franco chain clasp eventually broke. I brought it in, and he charged me $95 to replace my clasp. $85 if he kept my old one and replaced it. Keep in mind that they keep it so they can melt it down to gold or replace the spring inside. The man upsells poor quality jewelry. I would take my business to anywhere else in Grand Century where they will be more honest and fair with prices. read more

Tony, you need to check on the California Sales Tax on Gold & Silver bullion and coins which is call Regulation 1599 on coins and bullion. Please don't ever talk about you charge more and take some tax off for customer about coins and bullions. Just tell them that is how much you would over charge or sell for because a lot of Vietnamese didn't know about the law. If you stupid enough to pay tax from people that you bought from (which is impossible), that is your problem. It's the California's law.
