We recently moved to Mt Airy and this is quickly becoming my favorite spot. Great food with occasional bummer special. Well balanced drinks that deliver on flavor as well as buzz. Prices are a bit high but I think it lends to their (mostly) attentive service. Of the four times I've been so far, only one waitress was disappointing. When I brought my children, they were so helpful getting booster seats and a comfortable location for our large party. When I've gone alone or as a date, the vibe always accommodates the mood for the dining experience. Truly versatile The baked figs are dynamite. The pizzas are lovely. The cream based ravioli that I ate on one trip was dish-licking delicious. I will say the blackberry creme brulee was a bit disappointing BUT the cookies and cream Smith Island Cake was fantastic. Bit of a BBQ snob, been smoking meats to my preference for a long time. Rolled up to a pizza joint and they recommended the ribs; normally I would have refused but the waiter was confident. Slaw was on point, chips a nice add, cornbread good. Now to the ribs. I realize it's hard to prep ST Louis style ribs in a timely fashion and make a snob like me happy; takes me a good 8 hours to get it right, most of the time... Meat didn't pull of the bone cleanly, membrane wasn't peeled off, bones broke, flavor was what I want, sauce was amazing! Pizza joint doing ribs better than most BBQ restaurants. I LOVE their pizza. Such a great spot! We've been several times and I always forget to take pictures of the food because it looks and smells so good. The pizza crust is always perfect with a great robust sauce. Drinks are always great and reasonably priced. Happy hour (M-F 3pm-6pm) is great with half price apps and lower drink prices. Service is great, super nice and we never feel rushed. read more

We were in the area looking for a great place to have some pizza after my wife's maternity shoot and came across this place. It had an authentic feel to it with the red decor, great seating both outside and in, and Nostalgia sprinkled all throughout the inside of the place. Staff seemed pretty friendly as when we were being seated a tall gentleman was entertaining a family with kids dancing. We all got seated and were greeted by our server Brooke who is equally nice and knowledgeable. They use a special kind of crust imported from Italy that does not cause bloating which we appreciate it. You also get that authentic Italian taste from the pizza. Their wings were seasoned very well as my wife and I enjoyed them and complimented how good they were. Everything arrived hot and fresh from the pizza, wings and even the specialty cocktails that we had like the lavender lemonade and the Honey Blackberry Spritz. My wife is also a fan of mozzarella sticks so we got fried mozzarella. Our friend decided to try the lemon ricotta creme brulee which she also enjoyed. I like seeing the wood for the wood fire stove and they had several pieces of decor throughout the place as well as the lighting that just makes it feel homey. The tall gentleman was even nice enough to run out our wings that we had left at the table by accident. Service was 10/10 and super cute inside! The food was eh! Could've had more flavor and the prices were kind of outrageous. We ordered shrimp and crab, stuffed mushrooms, 5 for $18... and couldn't even taste or see shrimp or crab in them. The pasta was a little watery and flavorless. The pizza was good! I hate to be like this, but this food was not good. It's another Italian American spot charging you way too much for sub par food. When ordering chicken Alfredo, I was excited after being asked if we wanted it the authentic way or American way (with cream). We ordered it the authentic way and got a dry chicken cutlet on buttered noodles with a pesto garnish. They charge 24 dollars for that pasta. They charge 14 for bread and bruschetta!?!? The prices are outrageous. My Burrata salad was really good at least, would recommend trying that at least. It's a no for me, and I wouldn't waste your time or money here unless you like subpar Italian American food. On another note, everyone was extremely helpful and nice. Our waitress answered all our questions and looked into substitutions when we asked . It's looks really nice on the inside too. We normally check Yelp reviews before trying a new place, but in this instance we were in town and decided to give it a try and it was amazing. So amazing, we came back the following weekend. The cheesesteak is HUGE and served on a yummy French bread roll. Too big to finish. The fried mozzarella was spectacular and the bacon wrapped figs are a must have. The second trip we repeated the figs and tried the mushroom pizza and learned that the crust is imported from Italy. Yum! Prices are very reasonable compared to other similar Italian restaurants. The "subpar" reviews I read after the fact are nonsense!! Now, to rate the service. Also amazing! The wait staff are all very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and it was fun to sit in the back and watch the well run kitchen. We got to meet the owner and chat with him for a few. Super nice guy! Relaxed atmosphere with lots of families enjoying their Friday night! Might be back again next weekend, but definitely again soon! read more

Do not go to this restaurant if you want a quiet family dinner. Last night it was not crowded at all, but a couple of extremely loud boisterous men were at the bar, near our table. I asked the server if she would please ask them to lower their voices. When nothing changed, I repeated my request, She asked if we wanted to move elsewhere. I do not understand why our group should have been asked to move. Why was it impossible for her to ask the loud, disruptive men to lower their voices? Maybe because alcohol is a high-profit item and the management wanted to keep these patrons happy and spending ,even if they were disrupting other patrons from enjoying their dinner. Went here after it was recommended by staff at a local spot I love a lot in the Mt Airy area this past Sunday. I was so completely shocked by the waitstaff, server and potentially the manager on duty?; the attitude was so dismissive we didn't get a chance to eat here. Would not be back; didn't understand why they felt it would be appropriate to speak to me like I was not a patron in their establishment. Response to Owner: Actually, they didn't. My waiter I guess decided she couldn't speak to me directly, and the random lady came over did not introduce herself and she said she would be confiscating it, which was weird as it's not hers. I asked them for the cup, they gave me the cup. I did not hide it, I walked in with the bottle itself, and it wasn't opened yet until I had the cup from the restaurant. If it was not allowed, I wish she would've said that at the onset, it would've been the same outcome without the attitude. We did enjoy ourselves, both before and after our visit to your restaurant. Ultimately, it was the approach that was rude; I would've gladly taken the bottle home as I intended, and purchased wine from the pizza shop itself. There are actually several restaurants that do allow you to bring in bottles of what you prefer, and sometimes charge corking fees, not sure about your licensing but you might consider that option in the future given the location. read more

Great restaurant! Our group loved a few things when we stopped for lunch here. #1 The high quality ingredients!!! Each ingredient in the hot Italian sandwich and pizza was delicious, fresh and high quality. The cibatta bread and pizza dough were both soft and chewy. The meats and cheeses were all delicious! #2 The manager Andi and the staff were all so great handling our group! They were very friendly and pointed us to so great local Maryland produced beers! Had a large group party in their private room upstairs. The space upstairs and throughout the restaurant was very nice and is very well kept. The service we had for the bar area and food was super friendly, cleared plates and glasses from our table quickly, got the party drinks fast, and frequently checked in on us. The food was served buffet style and everyone seemed to enjoy everything from the pizza to the salad. Would recommend for a large group party or a date night. read more

First time to this restaurant, and we went on a Friday night at 6 o'clock. We had a 20 minute wait for a table which was communicated immediately and we gave our phone number so they kept in touch by text. We were surprised to find that we were seated upstairs in a second dining room. There were quite a few steps to get up, which was not a big deal for us, but could be if anyone had mobility issues. Our server Luke could not have been a nicer guy! We started with a drink and goat cheese, stuffed figs, wrapped in bacon and drizzled with honey. So delicious and beautifully presented. We shared the ravioli entree, and left feeling full and satisfied. The music playing was traditional Italian restaurant music, which added to the ambiance. If I had one complaint, it would be that the parking is not simple in downtown Mount Airy. It is free parking but not super convenient to the center of town. But the downtown area is well-lit and feels safe and maintained. This restaurant is a must-try! I'll be back!! read more

Food and service are both inconsistent. Went there on a Sunday afternoon with 6 people, and portions were large and the food was excellent, as was the service. Last night went with one other person, the Mediterranean cobb salad was half the size of my first visit (not worth $17), and the pizza looked like it was thrown together by a 5-year-old. Our server hovered annoyingly until we wanted to pay, then we could not find her anywhere. We've been twice. The first was four out of five stars. She had pizza and I had pasta. The second time wasn't very good at all. She had a margarita pizza and there was no detectable Basil. I had an Italian sandwich. My first was "they tried this sandwich and kept it on the menu?" The bread to filling ratio was all wrong. There was too much bread and it was too dense for the little bit of filling I believe it was missing some peppers that were mentioned on the description. Dry bread, meat and some cheese isn't my idea of a quality Italian sandwich. We'll probably be back, but know what not to order. A big disappointment. read more

Ordered from this restaurant through UberEats and the restaurant either made the wrong order, or substituted it for whatever they felt like making. What I got was clearly not the pizza I ordered, even though the box had my name on it and the name of the pizza. We ended up not eating what was sent and UberEats refunded us. They are very kind. I wasn't eating there but was helping my niece find a prom dress next door. I'd just had a knee replacement and in a great deal of pain as the meds had worn off. I was sitting there the car unable to walk another step and called and asked if it was possible for me to purchase a soda and they bring it to me in the car. They not only brought it to me but gave me the soda. They literally saved me from being in tears until I could find a place to get a drink after my family completed the purchase of my niece's dress. They certainly put a lot of effort into the remodel. Serving staff were friendly and attentive. The pizza might be acceptable if it was a school cafeteria or a prison. This is supposed to be wood fired pizza. The crust has a premade look and texture to it. Almost like school fundraiser pizza. The sauce tastes like sugary oregano tomato paste. The cheese is like a plastic shell holding it all together. There's a saying.. "Pizza is like sex. Even when it's bad it's good". This is exactly what every restaurant should be. We dined here for the first time tonight, and this recently opened restaurant is already a well oiled machine. They were busy, as every restaurant should hope to be, but managed it extremely well. The food and service were both exceptional. We were seated well under the 15 minutes expected when we arrived. Our glasses were never empty. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. Our server knew the menu and made excellent recommendations. Two gentlemen, who I assume were owners or managers, checked on us a couple of times. The stuff mushrooms, chicken piccata, seafood ravioli, and tiramisu were as good as any I have ever had. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, but not loud, suitable for both families and romantic dinners. We look forward to dining here regularly now. Job well done to the entire staff. read more

Bolognese...no salt, only sugar, decorates a moment in time where tomatoes were picked before they were ripe...taken like the smiles of a newborn child. It's only in these parts of Italy where the lion of food spreads balsamic on plates, next to a connected cup of oil, so unfunctional that it must be decoded be DaVinci himself. This is true italian heritage. The bruschetta...white toast, beautifully under-and-over cooked like Columbus imagined, splashed with basil as brown as the olive fields-beautifully complimented by the cheese of plastic, invoking memories of a childhood lost in a basement to an ill willed soldier high on vesouviois ash and precisely cooked pasta. The pasta, mama Angelea weeps as she chews vigorously through the dense, gummy texture, like strands of clay reminiscent of the tobacco fields I've grown to love as an elder. Pasta nestled neatly in the beautifully opened cans laced with sugar of the finest burlap sacks. Local quail, shot directly by the chefs on the streets of Mount Airy-succulent and hearty- like the wooden spoon of a long lost time. The burratta, placed gently on the expertly pre sliced proscuitto screams decadence, paired neatly next to the perfectly aged wilted salad. Tonight I lay my head, dreaming vigorously of the days gone by, remembering my nonna cracking open a can of ragu, pouring it with care over hot dogs and heating up an elios pizza. My sister and I tried Tony Pazzo out for the first time the other day. The food was really great, service was also awesome. Our server was attentive. Wine was good. I was kind of surprised that it was not busier. We went during happy hour, got our glasses of wine and mixed drinks. We ordered appetizer and dinners. Our appetizer was the bruschetta. The bread was thick and very crunchy, cold and the tomatoes (very little) , way too much cheese was just ok. Some had the lasagna, again good but overloaded cheese. I had the fettuccine, too much sauce very rich. We ordered our second round of happy hour drinks at 5:58, asked our waiter could we still make happy hour, which ended at 6, he said sure. After dinner we had the $7 signature cocktails. They were ok, aperol spritz, Negroni and margarita. Our bill came and we were not charged the $7 for the cocktails nor happy hour price for the second round. We told our waiter and he said h'd fix it. The manager lady came over, who we noticed talked to the other table not us during our meal. The place was empty. She sounded as if she was scolding us, she corrected the$7 cocktails but the happy hour price was punched in at 6:09, so she could not honor the happy hour price. Wow!?! What is her problem! She was so belittling, I just cut her off, said ok, here is my credit card. I'm not going back! Do you want people to return? We ordered right before 6, or even 6:00 and your waiter or bartender punched it at 6:09 and you're going to get in pissing match about that? Went there last night with a group of neighbors. I have to be honest. I was a little skeptical after looking at the pictures online of the Margherita pizza. They should delete that photo. We waited so long for this restaurant to open, and couldn't wait to go there. We ended up getting carry out. I got the chicken parm. The chicken patty was burned on one side and tasted bland. The tomato sauce was terrible, very thick and not seasoned well. We also got a pizza. it was just okay. The prices are way too high, even if the food was better. read more

My wife and I tried this restaurant the other day. The ambiance is very nice and the service was good. As for the food, I would rate it average at best. This is surprising because the sister restaurant, Tony Locos, is very good. My wife ordered the Tony Pazzo salad as an entree with chicken. The salad was small and the lemon honey vinaigrette was bland. Most surprising was the price of $21 for a salad with a chicken breast. I thought that was a bit pricey for what she got. I ordered a side salad and a pizza with pepperoni. I won't address the side salad since I already did so with my wife's entree. However, the pizza was average. The crust was doughy and tasteless. Not what I expected for a brick oven pizza. As for the sauce on the pizza. It was a flavorful with a strong taste of garlic, but nothing exceptional. Again, $18 for a 12 inch pizza. Overall, the food was slightly better than average. However, . the price reflected a much better eatery. In fairness, this restaurant recently opened so I hope the food will improve. We had an outstanding meal at Tony Pazzo tonight. We started with the Shrimp Oreganata. The shrimp was well-seasoned and piping hot, and the polenta was cooked just right. We then split the Bolognese, which was delicious--flavorful but not too heavy. The atmosphere is lovely, and our server top-notch. Also, the wine list included several of my favorites. I really wanted to love this place. We are a small town with not many options. My husband ordered an ultimate meatball sandwich. It was bland with maybe two meatballs. Sorry guys...fail. I got the margarita pizza. Very bland. Honestly, my jaw hurts from eating it. The crust was pretty tough. The bar down the street has better pizza. The cocktails are just ok. I feel bad to give a bad review because the owner seems like a great guy...but we don't go out much...it's expensive to eat out, so we just won't be coming back. Super excited to try out the new place in Mt Airy. I think there is definitely room for improvement in some areas. The space, decor and bar area is nicely designed. The menu is very appealing and we're really looking forward to try the homade ravioli but unfortunately they were out. We opted for the bruchetta for the appetizer. My suggestion - it needs more. For $12, it's 4 quarter slices of focaccia bread, 4 halves of tomato slices, a little parm and very little basil and balsamic drizzle. No salt and lacked flavor. For dinner, we ordered the meatball, chicken parm and a white pizza. The chicken parm was great! Good size and flavor with a nice amount of cheese and sauce without being soggy. The meatball was good but had a flavor of a spice I could not put my finger on and it was a little off. Nice size and could use a bit more ricotta to balance the size of the meatball. We liked the pizza and the crust as it held a crunch. In talking to the owner, the dough is shipped from Italy. So although premade, good quality and consistent. Overall, this place has a ton of potential! I think once they get a handle on their salting/seasoning of their plates, they will be great! Will def try them again. read more
