At that meeting, we were told we needed to install flooring under the cabinets. After speaking with a contracting friend and two other companies, everyone said that was incorrect. This led me to doubt their professional knowledge and expertise. After the initial meeting, everything started going by the wayside. They missed appointments, were hard to get a hold of, and changed their story. We went from picking out materials to needing another appointment for the contractor to see the home. During the second appointment for measuring and seeing the home, they "measured" by measuring at an extreme angle. The contractor, in charge of demolishing our kitchen, demonstrated no knowledge in how to properly measure (it was NOT an area needing an angle to measure). That was concerning. They also didn't know the business hours of their own vendors. When we decided not to continue with FC Construction, they were honorable in giving us a refund. But when we called to remind them, the owner told us the refund was in the process. The next day, the main company line called and asked for our refund information to issue a refund. So it being "processing" was a lie. I didn't trust them to start any work, so I have no idea how their work is. But I wouldn't recommend based on the many red flags mentioned above. Kind people, though.

Skilled and experienced beyond expectation, I don't think there was a single "impossible" problem with our project that could stand up to the A-Team Duncan has assembled. And you can tell that Duncan respects the people he works with and treats them well; I've never met a crew that works so well together, even the subcontractors seemed excited to be a part of the team. Our home is a split level craftsman, built by a Boeing engineer in the 50s and damaged by fire in 2020. Because of the fire, all the work we had done was permitted and inspected, which means that everything the crew touched had to be brought up to modern standards despite having been built by an aerospace engineer 70 years ago. I don't think most contractors would have touched our project with a 10 foot pole. But Duncan, our foreman Mike, and the rest of the team were such consummate professionals that the few minor issues that came up were all resolved quickly, with barely any delay to the rest of the project. Genuine, quality work, too, without a single sketchy compromise or quirky short cut. The kind of beautiful, elegant solutions you only seem to find in old-school craftsmanship anymore. An honestly unbelievable team of amazing individuals with a shared depth of institutional knowledge and experience that allow them to make the impossible possible. And flexible enough to make it all happen on our budget, which is frankly as impressive as the craftsmanship. A huge shout-out to Mike, Phil, Angel, Arron, Brett and the rest of the team, especially Kim at the home office for all her efforts coordinating, sourcing materials, scheduling, and keeping everything on track. Our project could easily have spiraled out and ballooned in cost, but Duncan's incredible team kept the entire project running smoothly. He is very knowledgeable on all different aspects of remodeling, but leaves more difficult electrical and plumbing work to other experts on his team. Mark was also great on giving a good time estimate, leaving the jobsite as clean as possible, and being very flexible during the construction process if we wanted to change or add something. We purchased a lot of the main design materials (ie. vanities, cabinets, toilets, showers, hardware, etc) ahead of the work in order to take advantage of sales and purchase exactly what we wanted.
