I would surely give this place five stars, but due to my issue that you're going to read below I gave them three. I've ordered from this place about 10 times since they took over the old Romanescos (I believe it was called). I apologize if I spelled it wrong I never ordered from there before. When it comes to thin crust pizza being that I grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. I prefer Tavern style. A lot of people don't know what that is anymore but true Chicago ones do. Where I grew up it was a big Italian neighborhood and that is the standard type of pizza to a Chicago ones. Not deep dish. I've been living out here for 21 years and although I still frequent the city for certain foods as well as Ben making pizza from scratch which is time-consuming, I hadn't found a halfway decent authentic Chicago tavern style pizza out here up until a few years ago. Originally, I was ordering from Rosati's in Cary and I was somewhat impressed. Originally Rosati's was a family pizzeria that franchised their name and recipe off, but I've noticed that a lot of of their franchise locations as long as they hold true to the original recipe is pretty decent. Some aren't great. When I came to the one in Cary, I started noticing they started skimping on toppings so I stopped. I then tried the Pizza Stop right down the block from Rosati's. It's a pizza I'd like, love the crust however, they always always followed special instructions however, the sauce has a little too much garlic in it for me, which doesn't agree with me. Then, Gallos opened up. I tried them and was extremely impressed. The crust was crispy, the sauce is very tasty. And they initially followed my request for any toppings to be placed above the cheese rather than underneath. Why do I like toppings above the cheese? Because it cooks and crips more. When you're dealing with sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, it just taste so much better. When it's buried underneath the cheese in my opinion, it's slimy, wet, and greasy. The last five times I ordered Gallo's and requested toppings above the cheese. It doesn't happen. It did initially but not anymore. Tonight I ordered a pizza requested toppings on top. I specifically told the kid on the phone that the last time I requested it it didn't happen and she told me that she would make sure it did. And to my disappointment after the fifth time it didn't happen. Once I received it, mushrooms were buried underneath. I called to advise and the young girl on the phone simply apologized and said "the next time I'll write your request down". My response back was "you should always write everybody's order and request down on a ticket". My guess is that she typed it into a computer on the register and figured it would magically happen. Again, I don't want to inflict lack of business to the people that own Gallows. But if they can't fulfill, simple requests, then I'll move on. I told the girl on the phone that there's a lot of places in the neighborhood that they have competition with. If they reply back acknowledging this review, they might say well we were busy that particular night but again it's been five times and there's times I order during the week when it's dead. read more

The pizza was just OK. I was actually surprised at how expensive it was. Apparently not just toppings are additional cost so was extra sauce and well done was also an extra charge. It's pizza! How can it be so expensive especially when you're just asking for some extra sauce and baking it a little more?! We also ordered some boneless wings which were decent. They had a lot of sauce, but nothing over-the-top crazy. It was nice to have the cornmeal on the bottom of the crust not a lot of places do that anymore. If you're looking for a close to home location, yeah it's OK however, if you're looking for a great pizza, this would not be your place. read more

Best pizza in Cary! We have been eating these delicious pies since the doors opened. Pizza is cooked to perfection with a generous amount of toppings and a crispy cornmeal crust. I recommend the sausage and giardiniera. If you like a bang for your buck, use the coupons found on their takeout menu. I love the free cheese pizza of equal size when you buy a pizza. I started going there for lunch about a month ago. I like the no-hassle ready pizza slices for $5 at lunchtime because I don't have to wait. There is a small counter where someone could sit and eat but I always take mine to go. The pizza slices are good and just enough when I want a quick, tasty meal. I prefer the pizza slices that have been sitting around for a while because the cheese is not as drippy as the cheese on the slices from a newly baked pizza. On my way to carry this morning, I passed Romanesco's at 6:45 am. My mind already started planning for the end of the work day! I came back at 3 p.m. and the owner, Roman was here and serve me a fantastic, very fresh slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza. This monster slice is 10 times as tasty and equally as filling as an entire Tombstone Frozen. There's no comparison between his pizza and any of the chibi fast food pizzas or Frozen. What's more, I got to meet the owner who has been in the restaurant business is whole life. He's an absolute gentleman, friendly and interesting. Although the pizza is very good. Their business practices stink. I ordered a pizza and that was supposed to be delivered in 40-50 minutes. When I ordered this pizza, the girl that I talked to was having problems understanding the fact that I lived at street address 409 and not 309. I thought we cleared this up and call ended. During the time I was waiting I received two calls from unrecognizable phone numbers. These calls came from delivery drivers. I do not accept calls like this. They should have called from business phone if they had a delivery problem. They were trying to deliver to street address 309. Bottom line is when pizza arrived, it was a half an hour late and lukewarm. The following day, I called the owner Sergio to complain he offered the next pizza free. A couple of days later I stopped in to order my free pizza from Sergio and he was reluctant to make good on his offer, complaining that I did not answer phone. I told him to keep his free pizza. So I went to Gallo's to try their pizza for the first time since the name change from Romanesco's, start with a couple slices before committing to a whole pizza. It took no less than five minutes to get so much as eye contact in acknowledgement from either of the high school girls manning the front counter. It was probably about ten minutes of waiting at the counter to be acknowledged at all as they moved around. I get being busy but they were not slammed at the time. I did not receive so much as a hello or a "hey it's going to be a minute" type of thing. When one of them did actually make eye contact and speak it was regarding someone else's order, I just wanted a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. We use to love romanceso's... And I'm changing my review bc of what happened tonight... We are incredibly disappointed. We have ordered religiously almost every Friday from romanescos for over six years and today was the last day we will order from them. (Two double cheeseburgers, breaded mushrooms, and popcorn shrimp is our typical order) Today we ordered 4 double cheeseburgers, popcorn shrimp, and breaded mushrooms... and by calling them directly thinking nothing had changed ($4.55/ double burger). To our surprise the burger prices have nearly DOUBLED... But no one told us at the time of ordering! SHOCKED after looking at the receipt and after realizing the price change we called in to see what happened. I spoke to two people who said "Yeah, unfortunately our prices on the burgers have gone up." Really? Gone up? That jumped by $4 each to $8-$8.50 (were not sure at this point they said two different things.) Annoyed, we checked the website which still allows you to buy the burgers at $4.55... AS WELL AS Every third party app (unber eats, door dash) has it still listed at $4.55. So.. After years of loyalty, we realize it is for not... we'd would have been better off buying third party, at least until the price change made their way to the other apps as well. Shame.
