We have driven by this place for 30 years and finally decided to stop in for a beer and pizza. The place is at the "dead end" on the Fox River. The place is a bar so dress code is casual. Kim the bartender was just awesome. Nice, friendly & took care of everything. We ordered a couple draft Blue Moons that came in the 20th anniversary glasses. (2015!) The pizza was fabulous. Two of us split a 12" with cheese, pepperoni, black olives, & mushrooms. Fair warning the pizza is hot! (Temperature wise!) but so very good. Almost gave me a Charlotte's vibe from the 1980's in Barrington off of NW Hwy. check this place out. You won't be disappointed & you might even run into me cause I will be back!

Festive neighborhood bar in Fox River Grove that's not really on a dead end. It's actually next to the bridge and marina. Dead End looks like it's seen many years of drunken fun. Has lots of cheap beers on tap and tons of liquor bottles all over the place. The food is better than typical bar stuff. Cool thing about it is it's next to the water, so you can pull ashore and tie up a boat. It also seems to be popular with bikers, because there's always a few motorcycles in the parking lot. The drinks are the main thing, but the food is better than expected for a place looking like this. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. Whiskey and whatever. As for the food, the best appetizers are the chips and fries. It's about $8 for a good portion. There's also pizzas that are homemade not frozen and then they'll bake these. Good stuff for an unassuming bar. It sure doesn't look like much from the outside, and inside isn't anything fancy to be sure. They also have a few cheesecakes that are made local and these make a good treat for then or whenever.

Great pizza and the wings are excellent. The kitchen is consistent as well, we order here a couple times a year and it's always great.

I would surely give this place five stars, but due to my issue that you're going to read below I…read moregave them three. I've ordered from this place about 10 times since they took over the old Romanescos (I believe it was called). I apologize if I spelled it wrong I never ordered from there before. When it comes to thin crust pizza being that I grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. I prefer Tavern style. A lot of people don't know what that is anymore but true Chicago ones do. Where I grew up it was a big Italian neighborhood and that is the standard type of pizza to a Chicago ones. Not deep dish. I've been living out here for 21 years and although I still frequent the city for certain foods as well as Ben making pizza from scratch which is time-consuming, I hadn't found a halfway decent authentic Chicago tavern style pizza out here up until a few years ago. Originally, I was ordering from Rosati's in Cary and I was somewhat impressed. Originally Rosati's was a family pizzeria that franchised their name and recipe off, but I've noticed that a lot of of their franchise locations as long as they hold true to the original recipe is pretty decent. Some aren't great. When I came to the one in Cary, I started noticing they started skimping on toppings so I stopped. I then tried the Pizza Stop right down the block from Rosati's. It's a pizza I'd like, love the crust however, they always always followed special instructions however, the sauce has a little too much garlic in it for me, which doesn't agree with me. Then, Gallos opened up. I tried them and was extremely impressed. The crust was crispy, the sauce is very tasty. And they initially followed my request for any toppings to be placed above the cheese rather than underneath. Why do I like toppings above the cheese? Because it cooks and crips more. When you're dealing with sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, it just taste so much better. When it's buried underneath the cheese in my opinion, it's slimy, wet, and greasy. The last five times I ordered Gallo's and requested toppings above the cheese. It doesn't happen. It did initially but not anymore. Tonight I ordered a pizza requested toppings on top. I specifically told the kid on the phone that the last time I requested it it didn't happen and she told me that she would make sure it did. And to my disappointment after the fifth time it didn't happen. Once I received it, mushrooms were buried underneath. I called to advise and the young girl on the phone simply apologized and said "the next time I'll write your request down". My response back was "you should always write everybody's order and request down on a ticket". My guess is that she typed it into a computer on the register and figured it would magically happen. Again, I don't want to inflict lack of business to the people that own Gallows. But if they can't fulfill, simple requests, then I'll move on. I told the girl on the phone that there's a lot of places in the neighborhood that they have competition with. If they reply back acknowledging this review, they might say well we were busy that particular night but again it's been five times and there's times I order during the week when it's dead.

I'll try to be short, but want to give a true account of the events. Yesterday I came from the city via Metra late afternoon with another friend to visit a dear friend that moved to Cary a few years ago. Cary is far & we rarely see one another. Needless to say, we were super excited to for this mini-reunion & for our friend to show us a slice of Cary. It was not the best planning being St Paddy's weekend but so be it. We specifically looked for a place we could easily talk & catch up. We started w/ one chocolate martini at Cucina Rustica and chatted OVER an HOUR. Little did we know, we should have stayed there. Next stop, Cary RACIST Ale House. The back area lounge was nearly empty & we were assured it was open (not booked for any events). The waitress, at the start aggressively asked a bunch of questions. I first thought her line of questioning was bizarre so I ignored her while trying to figure out what to order. She asked how we got there, who was driving & specifically said she didn't feel comfortable in serving me. WTF?!?!? My friend politely answered her questions and when she left, we all agreed the waitress's behavior was odd & laughed it off. We refused to have her ruin our evening. To our SHOCK the waitress would NOT serve me?! Only me! Was I disruptive? NO! Was I being violent or doing something illegal? NO! Did I come in stumbling? NO! Was I slumped over passed out? NO! This was crazy! Check your security cameras if you don't believe! Was this a bad twilight zone episode? Was someone going to tell us this was all a joke? I was speechless. We asked her why. She said it was a management decision. What?! Interesting since no one came to talk to us aside from her. We asked her to explain, to get some understanding. You will NOT believe what she said....she said it was my eyes. I looked at my two white friends & asked if something was wrong with my eyes? No, nothing is wrong. WOW, she basically said my Asian eyes were an issue. Falsely claiming I was drunk and couldn't be served because she didn't like Asian-looking eyes?!?! I was stone cold sober ***hole! We were all completely sober & flabbergasted! Completely disgusted, we left. I thought about brushing this aside but I wouldn't want anyone else to be treated that way. I will not allow them to humiliate me. This was supposed to be a happy occasion, and it was spoiled by a bigoted, small-minded person. I don't know how these people can live with themselves.
