This was my first time here. It was a great experience. I happened to find this place on accident. My usual smog guy could no longer do my vehicle. He explained California changed the requirements making it more challenging to complete a smog for a vehicle older than 2000. Older vehicles need a different emissions testing machine and it costs a hell of a lot more. DO NOT GO TO JIFFY LUBE, the complete details are for another day but the receptionist lied and they charge $20.00 more. Bad business and karma. I called Tony's and the guy was great, gave me a cheap price and everything was complete in 8 minutes. Rick was the guy who helped me, he was professional courteous and best of all- HONEST. The smog tech was equally great, up front and took care of me and my allegedly dinosaur of a car. You know you're getting older when your once new 1997 is considered "old" and is difficult to smog. I almost did not come here because of the poor ratings but I am happy I did. 3 people in all helped me and they were all great. Fair price, quick service and staff was on their game. Definitely will come back for another smog. read more

Disappointed with our experience here. They failed us on the visual inspection but still ran the full smog test and charged us for the whole thing, which felt like a total money grab. When we tried to get answers about what the issue was, they were dismissive and gave us no real explanation. Way overpriced for the lack of service and communication. read more

Smog services are drastically overpriced. It's a common courtesy for a failed smog to have a free retest. $120 for a pass or fail and no free retest. I could not recommend going to another place more... read more

Tony's auto service was abit expensive for my past experiences with other mechanics but they are really professionals and get the job done and well. My car had a bad exhaust and needed to be replaced they took 1 day to replace it and I haven't had any problems so far I will update if i do. read more

I used to go to Tony's to get my smog check done every year for my 1992 Jeep Wrangler and would typically get charged $45 -$55 for it. Keep in mind this car is 26 years old. This year I could not take it in personally for the smog check so I had my wife take it in. When my wife took the jeep for the smog check she was grossly overcharged $80 for the same service I was charged $45-$55 before. The prices on their Smog check rose drastically, without explanation. I recommend finding another service with cheaper rates, they are easy to find. read more

Worse auto service in Watsonville/Freedom. The workers are almost always rude, the prices are freaking ridiculous, they do not care for the cars they're working on. I had to leave my car there over night so they could work on it. Came back the next day and noticed they let it sit over night with my windows rolled down! Not only was everything wet inside, but there was bird crap right on my dashboard! When I confronted them about this they simply said it was my fault and that i should have told them to roll up the window. I guess common sense doesn't exist here. I'm all for supporting local business, but holy jeeze if these guys actually cared and took pride in their work then maybe i would still recommend them and take my car there... read more

I have been taking my car to Tony's for years and honestly it's the cheapest place in town and the best place to get your car fixed.

My car was "totaled" but then was fixed by someone in my town. I had to have a brake and light inspection and so took it to Tony's . BIG MISTAKE. First of all, they failed the inspection due a tiny little light above the license plate which was, in fact, NOT OUT. Secondly, I took it back to the garage where I had it fixed and because it was the holidays they had to wait for the bulb but got everything better than new. At Tony's I had been told that I had a "week" to return and have inspection done again or they would again charge me $140 on the Thursday before Christmas. I called my auto body shop from the parking lot of Tony's he said he'd get everything done by Monday. Saturday and Sunday Tony's is closed and when I returned with my fixed car, low and behold I find out that THEY ARE CLOSED UNTIL JANUARY SECOND. So much for getting it re inspected within a week! Then I found out I could not even call to leave a message! WHAT TERRIBLE SERVICE. Very DECEPTIVE BUSINESS. read more

I give this place the worst rating of all time. I had a car in storage.Took it to these people and explained what I thought it needed, but left it up to them to check it out because I could be wrong. They called me one time to come check out the motor. they had got it running and needed some money. I showed up and was super happy. The motor sounded sweet. I paid them what they asked for and they said they would call me when the next step was finished. Never happend. I had to call them. They said they had extreme difficulty finding a part. Said they looked everywhere. i.e, Internet, Specialty shops, Junk Yards, etc....... I found what I needed online in about 30 seconds, ordered it, took it to them and payed some more money. Again they said they would call me with an update. Again, Never Happend. I called them. they said the car still had minor issues, but they had a solution already figured out and they would call me as soon as it was ready to go. Never happend. I called them, And they said it was done. I went on my next day off to pick up my car and they said they were very sorry but it actually wasn't done yet. Since I was there I payed the remainder of my bill, I was told again that they would call me when it was done. 3 weeks later I got a call. So I went to pick up my car again. When I test drove it I didn't make it 100 ft. and I knew everything is wrong. That was on a Friday, I asked how much longer they needed? They said next Friday. Again, No phone call, Nothing. Today is the following wed. I had to call them. This is the third time my car is supposedly finished. My next day off is Friday. I will post on Friday what happens........ But I already got a feeling whats gonna happen. Oh yeah! I almost forgot to mention. This is over a six month time period. If Yelp woul let me I would give them a negative five star rating. read more

The pricing is quite fair but more than anything else, the service and attention to detail is extraordinary. I had taken my wife's vehicle to another Watsonville shop for years and it always seemed to need constant work. my truck wasnt passing smog, i took it to tonys and they said i would need to leave it overnight so they could run diagnostics and smog. they charged me $180 for adjusting my timing, adjusting my carb, and changing my idle. they said i needed a new catalytic converter and they wanted $600 for it. i took it to john at freedom muffler (amazing) and he put in a much higher quality catalytic converter for $300. then i took it to bobbys pit stop and had bobby jr. run smog (also amazing) he had to adjust the timing, idle, and carb to get my truck to pass, which he said were all terribly out of wack, and he did it as part of the smog, no extra charge in 20 minutes. I literally paid tony's auto $180 and left my truck over night to make it run worse. negative stars. NEVER take your vehicle here. also they were condecending and rude to customers while i waited. classy... read more
