My car's transmission broke down and needed to be repaired immediately during the weekend. I heard about West Coast Auto from a friend and he said this place was very reliable, and the service was Top Notch. My car had to get towed to the shop because it was non-operational. I called the shop and told them my car would be arriving at a certain time. They were very responsive and made sure they would take care of it , which was a huge relief for me. I spoke with Carlos and he told me all the issues and problems with my vehicle. He said he would do his best to fix the issues, which he did exactly. My vehicle was ready the next day and Carlos's prices were very reasonable! I was very pleased on the overall customer experience. I came in to get my car smogged today, but will have to come back another day. Not enough miles since I got my 02 sensor replaced. Anyways they still quoted me at a crazy low price for the smog service. I will update after I come back next week. Came back to try again, still have a code showing up so I will have to come back again next week. The service tech was very polite and hand wrote instructions for me to follow that should help with eliminating the code that keeps popping up. They have been a great help so far! Passed! Went in to get my smog checked, called prior to schedule an appointment. Staff was friendly and was happy to answer any of my questions. Came to get a smog. No other cars are waiting. He tells me it's an hour wait. I said that's ok ill go somewhere down the street. He says, ok ok ill take you now, it's 48$ total for the smog check and certificate. Ok, I agreed. I pull in. He tells me I can go somewhere and wait for an hour and a half and then he'll do the smog test later, OR I can pay him 15 cash to do it now. Noooo too scammy for me. read more

Took almost three hours to do a SMOG check only to have them fail me on a visual inspection for a questionable component. When I drove the car away it was spiting and sputtering. I found a vacuum line that they had removed was now cracked. Returned for a retest and they told me they would have to charge me again. Forget it.... read more

Luis Jr. Is who I met initially over phone and in person when I contacted west coast for a smog . I live in Watsonville but up until now had taken my car into toriumis. They were busy the day I called , but able to squeeze my car in for a quick smog . I paid a few bucks less than anywhere in town and was on my way . It's tough being a female when you go to a mechanic , and in my experience , more often than not , I get taken advantage of financially . He seemed very nice & like someone who did right by his customers so I referred my friend to him . He was able to get her part after market for a third of the cost of the dealership. He gave her a great deal & she couldn't be happier with her experience. As I'm writing this I'm having my Lincoln towed to him and feel fully confident that price and service wise I'll be taken care of and that's an awesome feeling ! So stoked to have a local place that I can trust and I will update this when I get my baby "Pearl" back ! read more

We have never had any of our vehicles not pass smog, so we were at a loss. Our son's Jeep Cherokee had a bunch of codes pop up. We took it to our regular mechanic and it was beyond him. We then took it to a Smog Repair shop in Freedom and did not get very far there, it was just beyond that shop. So we found West Coast on Yelp. Junior is so calm and assured us there was no big deal, that he would fix it. We were so worried after dealing with 2 shops already, but Junior fixed it. It did take a couple of days due to varying issues with the Jeep, but Junior called us every day to give us updates and it passed. We picked up the Jeep and dropped off our second car that needed to get a smog, it passed immediately. Junior at West Coast is our new #1 Favorite shop. read more

West Coast Auto was just alright. I went in on a Wednesday mid-afternoon and the guy that did their smog checks was not in so I had to come back on Friday. I would recommend calling ahead if you need a smog check to make sure he's in. I waited a little over an hour on Friday for the one lady in front of me, but once they started on my car it only took about 25 minutes. The staff was friendly and they seemed to do a good job, but there wasn't a waiting room so I had to sit in a chair in a corner of the shop. They were the cheapest smog check place I found in Watsonville ($48), especially with the $10 off Yelp coupon (which made it $38). So overall 3 stars for friendly service, but a lot of inconvenience and waiting around. read more

Took my truck in for a smog check. I just shipped this truck from Hawaii so never had to do a smog check. I was told something was wrong with the truck's computer because no "codes" were showing. Told to drive the truck for another 100 miles and bring It back for a re-inspection. No charge for the first check. Drove the truck almost 200 miles and returned for another smog check. I was referred here by a friend when my car suddenly started breaking down as I was driving. My friend had come previously to get her car smogged, and had a good experience. I begged her to call for me, as I tried to continue driving my car, that was quickly loosing power. I couldn't believe the shop was happy to fit me in last minute. I actually drove straight there. I was greeted by Luis, who was expecting me, and told he would try and diagnose my car within 2 hours. My friend picked me up, and to his word, received a call 2 hours later with a diagnosis and affordable estimate. Luis told me he could order the part, repair my car and it would be repaired by the next day! I was thrilled, as it's almost impossible to be without a car. The following morning at 11 AM, Luis called to tell me my car was ready. The experience was painless and made a possibly horrible experience, not even remotely bad. I would feel comfortable referring anyone here and should I be in the need, will come back happily. read more
