Gotta love Texas BBQ! Here in Nederland, looking for some grub, came across Tony's, recommended by the locals. Although the outside was a little deceiving, the inside was clean, well lit and inviting with a small town feel. Gentleman greeted/served me was very polite/informative. Decided on the one meat plate with moist brisket. Baked potato casserole and pinto beans were fresh, as well as the jalapeño cheese bread. Didn't need the bbq sauce, as you can see by the picture but it was tasty for those that like bbq sauce. read more

Dry, way overcooked, and for BBQ, relatively flavorless. Franklin's has even published his book explaining everything about how they continue to experience long lines of customers who show up at the crack of dawn to hope they don't sell out. This is how you can run a real BBQ business, and still the Tony's owners don't seem to have even opened the book. Now, Redbirds is nearly as successful as Franklin's. I approached Tony's skeptically. I've been burned badly by BBQ joints in my modest experience. My brother on the other hand--was a perfect optimist this day and said, "let's play." The place isn't much to look at. Tony's has a pretty worn down facade. The interior, however, is kind of cool. Yellow and red is the color scheme; kind of like if Ronald McDonald had been murdered. It's cool though--I dug it. So we get to the counter and I order my usual sliced brisket sandwich. Nice rings on the brisket were in view and the guy had no problem pummeling the sandwich sauce. Mmmmmm. . . as a side I pointed to the macaroni. "That's not macaroni." No? Do tell. Corn bake! Ah--the things I love about the South. My sandwich exceeded all of my pessimistic expectations. The cornbake was unreal. I'm not sure what was in it--not being too familiar with cornbake--but it definitley had a whole lotta yum to it. Visitors to this area will be delighted if they stop here. Large portions, fresh sides, and a very courteous staff will have you enjoying your dining experience here. While in town visiting family, I decided to buy dinner and treat everyone. As expected from their local taste buds of experience; Tony's satisfied everyone. We ordered some two-meat, three-meat, and baked potato plates and each one had their own sides. Without any concerns for flavors or taste, they were all great. The brisket was lean, yet flavorful. The okra, rice, and veggie sides were cooked right and filled with taste. The baked potatoes were HUGE and could be filled with brisket, chicken, or fully loaded. In our group orders, we had them all and they were well worth it. As mentioned, the ladies and gentlemen working made every plate to order and added a smile with each one (free of charge). I would also say that if you are looking for a filling meal for your value, eat one of the HUGE stuffed potatoes, I am sure that they will put a dent in your appetite. There are not many classic establishments in Southeast Texas, but if you are in the area come eat at Tony's and you will see why they have made it great all these years. read more

They're a good bbq place but the inconsistency of the amount they give you is absurd. The amount of bbq, sausage, and etc is pretty much determined by the guy behind the bar that's cutting it up for you. My family and I get their bbq (brisket and sausage combo) togo almost once every week. Every togo box has different amounts of either briskets, sausages, or BOTH! That's my only complaint. read more

Tony's is great for a quick evening meal or a nice lunch. The atmosphere is subtle, and the smell of their delicious BBQ is all around. The tables are always promptly cleaned after you leave, leaving them with a pleasant shine that invites guests over. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The presentation of the menu and food is indubitably one of the best I've seen in The Golden Triangle Area! The large print menu over the cooking area is awesome, allowing you to see all that they have to offer. Including the Chopped Beef Sandwich, which is my personal favorite. I am a HUGE BBQ lover , my coworker and I decided to come to Tony's for lunch on my Birthday and this place did not disappoint. Walking in we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff who were ready to take our orders. I decided it was CHEAT DAY because YOLO and I ordered the Brisket dinner, the Pork Rib dinner, and Sausage dinner for the both of us. Each meal comes with two sides, potato salad, cream corn, green beans with bacon, fried okra, sweet potato, etc. And your choice of bread/jalapeño bread. I was avoiding the carbs, so they let me substitute for more meat. The portions are a decent amount for one person even though we family styled the meal. The staff was very helpful and good as well, checking up on us regularly to see if we needed refills or anything. I really appreciated that! Overall, we spent a total of $40 with drinks included. Definitely a new favorite spot to get my BBQ fix. read more

I've been to the Tony's in Beaumont a couple of times. I had heard that the Port Arthur location was even better. We were in the area, so the hubby and I thought we would give it a try. Had my favorite...the brisket. The Port A restaurant was definitely better. The meat was tender and delicious. Hubby's Ribeye Steak Sandwich was super fresh and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! My husband and I are in town visiting and we love BBQ. I tried the 2 meat plate with ribs, brisket, baked beans and potato salad. Both meats were tender and flavorful. The beans tasted like they came out of a can and the potato salad was bland. The portions were great and it was reasonably priced. I would try it again but different sides. read more

We went here one day because it smelled good when I had to stop by the walgreens next door. We have never eaten inside but have ordered from the drive thru they have, it take a while but it's worth it. The BBQ is very good, we really like the chop BBQ sandwich. The brisket was horribly fat...that's the first time that has happened to me here...the brisket is usually very lean...the turkey is always great...love the BBQ sauce too...for sides I got the potatoes and dirty rice. Love Tony's, I enjoy pretty much the entire menu but the steaks are some of the best in my opinion.

Overall a solid 4. I've been here about 6-7 times. 1st time brisket was rubbery, dry and horrible. But the other times the meats have all been consistent. Same as stated below, quantity is determined by whichever vato serves you. The steaks are awesome for me. Always get a 12oz. ribeye med. rare. Always cooked perfectly, served hot, fresh and juicy. The french fries always hot and fresh. The jalapeno bread is always a little dry and crumbles when you try and spread your butter on it. Baked potatoes consistent with all the toppings. They finally fixed all the broken booth seats as of 9/26/17. You usually fall into the broken cushions everytime but finally new cushions lol. Lost 1 star because of the always empty A-1 bottles. Have to make spectical of yourself asking for a full A-1 bottle when there's 10 sitting there all empty and smeared on the outside lol. And the bathroom graffiti I always enjoy. Looks like someone added on to the "Puro Michoacan" to "Puro Michoacanos" haha to be gramatically correct. Overall a good meal with some humor. read more

Went to Tony's the other night and the daily special board they have in there said buy one bbq meat plate and get the second one half price.So thats what we decided to get and i had one double meat plate and she had a single meat plate after we paid and were eating the half a** bbq dinners i noticed that they charged me full price for the meals.Went to the cashier and ask about the special price and was told i had to order two single meat dinners to get the half price deal go figure LOL.So I said well just give me half price on the cheaper meal and she said it was only for single meat dinners again.Ok so not only do they want you to eat a cheaper plate but are cheating them selfs out of selling larger plates of food makes no sense.So bottom line is cheat yourself out of money and loose good customers to boot LOL the food is nothing to brag about anyway ....... read more
