Went to Dickeys in Nederland Texas and the food was amazing. There was a few new items on the menu such as Brisket Mac n Cheese that I wanted to try but unfortunately they were sold out. They even have wings. Yeah wings. OMG I got the two meat plate which consisted of three ribs and six wings. I decided to with the habanero wings and my sides were potato salad and green beans and my husband got the brisket with baked beans and potato salad. This place has great food. The polish sausage is my favorite meat. The plates are very filling. As far as atmosphere, it's a chill place, and they were kind enough to turn the TV to the channel I wanted. My biggest complaint, though, is that this place is kinda expensive. I mean it's good, but it cost me about $16 for one person. That's too much. But the good is great and overall so is the atmosphere. read more

Big No is my vote. Labor Day and ribs is what I decided. Today of all time the ribs were nice quality but who ever seasoned them had a very very heavy hand . The ribs were salt licks. I ordered the 2 meat meal. Ribs could not eat. The second was chicken , what on earth was I getting here? The Dang stuff was spoiled, rank, sour. It had been under heat lamp and it was bad. You just plain don't mess with a Texans BBQ! Im more upset at myself for even having expectations from a Franchise BBQ joint. Im new in town as I'm here for work. I'm not really one to leave many reviews, but good lord the BBQ WAS HORRIBLE! Im in line ready to have my order taken, super hungry, haven't ate all day, so you know I'm so ready to get my grub on. I order a 2 meat plate, brisket and ribs, and should of known to walk out once I saw the meat, but hey I was starving. I ask him if the meat was from today,(it's just looked old dry, not appetizing),he said it had just got out the smoker 4 hours ago so okay we keep moving. I get my sides, Mac and slaw, they looked good so I keep moving. I get to the register and it's a whooping $17-$18 for the little portions I got. I pay, I don't want to be the cheapskate that bitches about the price right. I sit down start eating and the meat is dry, tastes like garbage, poorly seasoned. So you know I'm pissed, you don't mess with a Texans BBQ, especially when he's hungry. I give them a chance, I keep my cool, ask for my meat to be replaced with something a little more fresh. They give me their "best", which looks a little better. I sit down and give it another try, and same crap. I ate the darns sides, drank my sweet tea, but my tongue and left a review sitting at the table. I tell you, I'm giving these people to much credit with experience today. TO THE OWNERS, Have a little pride in your kitchen. Serve food that tastes good. In a small town like Port Arthur with limited places to eat you could have this place full of you served a good tasting meal, and you'll make money doing so. I went to the new location in Nederland the weekend after the Grand Opening because the lines were too long. .. when I went back the following Saturday there was less than ten people in the place. I walked up and told the staff I had never been to Dickeys before so I looked over the menu board and decided I wanted to try two meats. ..I ordered Turkey and brisket with two sides. ..a roll. .. and a drink. ..it cost right at $16.00 ! When I saw the server weighing the portion and putting it on the tray I couldn't believe that was the right portions. .. the roll was dense and somewhat chewy the sides were just OK... nothing to write home about. ..I tried the original and the spicy bbq sauces that you serve yourself at the condiment bar. .. they were both excellent. .. there is a sweet sauce that I did not try. .. if it had not been for dipping the meats in the sauce there would have been no flavor whatsoever to the meat. ..look at the photo and decide for yourself... the meats were OK i just wanted more...I would rather have a disposable cup instead of the souvenir cup if that would he'll keep the cost down. ..I would never go there for lunch at those prices. ... the copied beef sandwich looked like it had plenty of meat but the bun was the small ones you buy for home for about $9... in the photo compare the size of the meat portions to the diameter of the pickle slices to get an idea of how small they are... good luck Dickey's... read more

Gives BBQ a bad name. The meats (we tried 3 different ones) were terrible, very strange spongy texture and drenched in grease. The sides were also disappointing, very mushy veggies and the fried onions option looked and tasted like the burned scraps you clean out of the fryer. We left hungry, and had to pick up some dinner elsewhere on the way home. (Sidenote: their TVs were blaring non-family-friendly reality shows. I'm not expecting cartoons everywhere when we eat out, but, a reality show with police officers chasing suspects, handcuffing them, and searching cars for drugs isn't really my idea of a fun family dining experience.) read more

They have the best beef brisket in Texas, and always are very consistent. Taste just like grandma's homemade bbq! All the meats are really tasty, and the sides are great, especially the thin onion curls. We recently called Dickeys for a last minute catering order for 200 people, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. All of our guests where super pleased with the food. I went today for the first time. I went in about 12pm for lunch and the line was pretty long but wait was not too bad. I agree with the previous poster. I was shocked to see the guy behind the counter weighing the meat. I wish I had taken a picture of my plate because the portion size was unbelievable for a $16.00 price tag. I got the 2 meats and 2 sides. My meat choice was brisket and polish sausage. The guy weighed the meat and it was small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and dry. You can count how many pieces of sausage you received. The loaded mash potatoes and Mac and cheese were good. I was hoping this would be a good bbq place to go to besides Tony's but I think I will stick with Tony's. At least the portion sizes at Tony's are worth the price. Dickies is waayyyy over priced for the portion sizes. Better hope they do not suffer the same fate as geo burrito and free birds. read more

We went in on a rainy Sunday looking forward to the ribs that we've heard so many bragging about. Well, where do I start. I ordered the one meat plate with the brisket. The roll that came with the plate was bigger than my portion of brisket. Not to mention, it was the fat end of the brisket. And that plate was $12 without the drink or dessert. My husband ordered his rib plate and they did not have any. The two men working didn't seem to know the status of their ribs. It's like they were shocked that there were no ribs. One of the men working acted like he wasn't happy to be there and just going through the motions. There was only one family in there eating and they had been open for 2 hours. Not sure what the issue was this day but the last time my husband went, he was charged almost $5 extra for the sauces to go when they were free at the dispensing station by the drinks. And nobody told him they were over there for free. Construction workers like my husband pay good money for good food. They don't have the comforts of home and at least can look forward to a good meal. Maybe the owner should pop in on a Sunday and cook some ribs. read more
