Great Sammie's. I had the Cheese Steak loaded and my wife had the pit beef with onions, coleslaw and horseradish sauce. There are a few tables out front which were occupied we chose to take our food to the park. Top ten if not a top five cheese steak. The bread was good which is important. When you're driving down 522, you'll see a pig painted like an Italian flag. This place is awesome. You can get fresh meats, better seafood than the Food Lion in town, and even some stuffed peppers! The staff is super helpful, and it's not a large place. Just a straight up meat market. There are refrigerated cases that hold all the different cuts. I've yet to ask for a custom cut, but I'm sure they would do it. They also have hot soups and some hot lunch/dinner ideas if you so choose. I always make it a point to stop here for something to grill up. It's ALWAYS worth it. highly recommended. read more

Excellent sandwiches. The cold subs are much better than the average --good bread, high quality meat and toppings, all made to order. And the meatball subs are sooo good -- the sauce, the meatballs, and the quality of the cheese. Haven't tried the pizza or hot bar yet. read more

My family and I have been visiting Berkeley Springs annually for the last three years and we just discovered this hidden gem during this visit. It's such a cute little shop but that's not all it has going for it. The meats and cheeses are fresh and delicious. Not only do they have options to order both cold and hot subs, but they also have wood fired pizza that is absolutely incredible. Tony's makes some of the sexiest meat sandwiches in West and East Virginia. Their fully loaded Italian Submarine is amazing. If you don't order it with the hot pepper relish, you will live the rest of your life with a feeling of emptiness that creeps up when you least expect it and you will never know why. This is a full service butcher that also serves up some tasty sandwiches. They use their own premium ingredients and are making it all the right way. There's also a selection of chips and drinks. On the weekends they also have a hot table with things like mac-and-cheese in it. The only down side is there is no inside seating. There are 5-6 tables outside on the porch if the weather is nice. The sandwiches are all packed "to go" style, so if you want to stop on your way to one of the local parks it's a great option. read more

Incredible. Great selection of fish, some of the best Halibut I've ever brought home to cook. One of the guys offered to special order fish for me - great customer service! The pizza takes me right back to the streets of New York - light but doughy crust with fresh tomato sauce and lots of thick cheesy bubbles along the edge. Fantastic cannoli. Good food, fast service, and friendly staff. We really like their pit beef sandwiches. Also have good pizza, subs, and salads. We like to order the food at Tony's, then go to Cacapon State Park to sit out under the trees and enjoy the surroundings. Makes for a very nice day out without having to be in a crowded area. We travel to Berkeley Springs several times a year and this is always our first stop! We've tried many items on the menu but our favorites are the Cheesesteak sub and Pastrami on Rye. The Cheesesteak is quite possibly the best I've ever had. The meat isn't sliced paper thin, instead, it's chopped. So you feel like you're biting into something hearty. Your choice of veggies and cheese from the deli and you have yourself a very tasty sandwich! Tony's is a little pricey, but totally worth it! read more

What a gem in a small town! My husband and I are DC residents and have a cabin in Great Cacapon which is 10 miles west of Berkeley Springs, WV. Every weekend we hit Tony's Butcher Block to get our weekend grilling meats and sides. The quality of meat and chicken is outstanding...I only wish this place was in Washington DC! The have fresh fish, all sorts of meats, cold cuts, deli salads, bread, vegetables when in season, and absolutely delicious desserts when they are available. The Death by Chocolate cake is unreal and very rich but is goes lightning fast n the weekends. Tony's is a must to pick up your weekend food. Great service!!! Awesome little butcher shop with mighty fine sandwiches that will fill even the hungriest Brawny West VA man! The location isn't stellar - it's a bit out of the main area of Berkeley Springs, which is a shame because they are probably missing out of a good amount of biz from tourists. If you go, look for the pig statue out front (which is sometimes seasonally decorated). I've heard they are expanding/updating their current location. Call ahead and put in your order if you're in a rush or don't want to wait around. There isn't much place to sit and eat there, so it's a bit more of a to-go shop. Perhaps the new renovations will include more of an eatery feel to the place. read more

Quite simply -- I love Tony's. 2 years ago, my partner and I bought a cabin outside of Berkeley Springs, and we have stopped by Tony's almost every time we visit the cabin! We first got hooked on going to Tony's because of their delicious and HUGE subs (we would have 1/2 for lunch and the other half for dinner -- and that' just the medium!), and quickly found ourselves pulling sides from the fridge (the caprese salad is particularly great), picking up some crab cakes for the stove or meat for the grill. At this point, we often pick up meat to take home with us because it's of the same quality as if we purchased it at Balducci's, but costs a LOT less. We have worked directly with Tony a few times when we weren't sure how to make something (pulled pork, pork loin, etc.) and his recommendations and cooking directions were perfect. This past weekend, I tried the Pit Beef for the first time, and found yet ANOTHER new favorite. Keep it up, Tony -- you're doing great! read more

I'm not much of a pit beef person, but we stopped by this place and it was a nice little treat. We tried out their Pit Beef on a Kaiser Roll, that included bbq sauce, horseradish, onions, a side of au jus sauce, and cole slaw (for an extra 50c). I didn't particularly cared for the Kaiser roll, but the beef itself was good dipped in the au jus sauce - I really liked the coleslaw, as it was fresh, creamy, and you can tell that it was homemade. While the beef over at Chap's in Baltimore might be better, Tony's has the au jus that made it stand out. Services was friendly, and they also had Stonewall Kitchen products, Boar's Head products, as well as fresh-cuts of meat. They also do meat processing for hunters, which I thought was interesting. I wish I tried out their Pimento and Cheese spread that I saw in the fridge, but knew that it wouldn't last long for the long car ride back... Yum, on so many levels. The meats were delicious- we got a whole chicken and four Delmonico steaks. The thing that put Tony's to the next level was the quality of the salads and extras. The chicken salad, pimento cheese, pasta salad, caprese salad- they were all AMAZING . Definitely worth the short drive South of town. It's also super close to the Food Lion, to pick up any other staples. The only thing keeping me from leaving a five-star review is the fact that their selection of meats was slightly limited. Where have Pit Beef sandwiches been all of my life? The one I got from Tony's straight up rocked my world. I can't speak to a ton else here, as we just popped in for some sandwiches to go on our way to a scenic lookout, but next time I'm in town I will DEF be back. Love this Gem, currently in a tiny space with limited inventory but expansion is in the works. Organic/Grass Fed, Prime beef and fresh fish, along with made to order sandwiches and BBQ on the premises. They were swamped when I first visited. And all hands were busy, but they all leaned over the counter to greet me. Even Tony, who took a minute to talk. They cut me a perfect 2 lb rib eye and it cooked up fast, sweet and tender. Perfection! This is THE place to purchase your meats in Berkeley Springs. Everything we have tried that is prepared in house (soups, salads, subs, pizza) has been delicious as well. Try the ribs if you make it a day that they are available, I think it's Friday and Saturday, you'll be able to tell by the smell when you walk in. read more
