We wanted something quick for lunch and did a search on the app to see what was near by. Tony's popped up and it was a hit. The small place puts a whole lot of love in their food. It's located on the busy corner of Broadway and Prospect along with a few other businesses. The old school diner is small and is open until early evenings. The place was full of people when I got a to-go at 1 o'clock from there on a Saturday. It was ready within 10 minutes of ordering and I was thanked for coming by. The picture doesn't do justice on the presentation, but it's good. It may get a little messy at times and it's worth every bite. The cheese dogs, onion rings, buffalo chicken tenders, fries, and grilled cheese sandwiches were enjoyed by all of us. Thanks for the quick lunch to eat :) read more

was in the area and heard great things about this place and wanted a quick lunch. first great service, greeted as soon as i enter and took my order right away and was so cool about me ordering after order i made. I tried the hog dogs with cheese and bacon, man was it good, cheese was great, bacon was cooked just right, no burnt pieces or underdone ones, the hot dog was grilled just right. I see why this place is known for it. I ordered a second dog same style to go and an onion ring. as for the Onion rings, normally bigger rings are not crispy, but here man were they good, nice and crispy and just right size of onion slices. We stopped here for a quick dog, as Tony's is an iconic establishment with some amazing reviews. Per one of the employees, they've been in business since the 30's and at the current location, on Broadway, since the 60's. They're open at 6:30 AM six days / week, and close late afternoon. Totally closed on Sundays. Kind of a smallish place, with less than 10 tables and about 10 stools at a counter. Prices are reasonable, especially for breakfast. Not quite sure what the bulk pricing is all about for hot dogs and hamburgers. One HD is $2.50; ten for $25.00; twenty for $50.00. If this is some sort of math quiz or logic test, I guess the message is "no discount for large quantities!" Both of us thought the HD was ok, but nothing special. They are skinless and grilled. No "snap" to them at all. The "everything Texas hot weiner", which is what I had, includes mustard, Texas sauce, and chopped onions. Again, it was good, not great. I love spots like this, small, humbled surrounding, friendly, neighborly and very traditional. I tried coming here before but it was packed. Today I felt like a fresh burger and that's exactly what I got. (I ordered two) Their menu is very small, mainly breakfast and lunch, it seems like everyone comes in for the burgers and hotdogs topped with their special sauce ( which they sell). A newburgh staple. Comfortable, quaint, smokey, onioney, old school, relaxing little diner on Broadway. Don't expect to walk in here and get some Michelin star quality meal in here. What you're going to get a solid hot dog/burger with a very good 'special' sauce and the fixings. You're going to have very good service at the counter and get taken care of when you're seated down at the tables. Order the texas hot with the sauce and bacon and you'll be set. read more

*Hot Dog review only* Made a point to stop by since I was passing through, to try the Hot Dogs. I walked in and saw the griddle full of dogs but...I noticed they looked the same as the cheap crappy non-beef hot dogs Coney Island in Middletown serves when you don't ask for all beef. Against my better judgement and my curiosity, I ordered 2 dogs with everything (mustard, chopped onions and the chili sauce. Well, the hot dogs tasted bad and the sauce was more like an red oniony sauce rather than the typical meat sauce. I couldn't even eat the 2nd one and threw it out. Too bad. They seem like nice folks. Great food with an excellent staff. This was our first time here and the staff told us all about the different things to get and were fun to talk to. Shout out to Tom and his comment telling us he doesn't care what we get so long as it had "the sauce" and if we don't get the sauce, we can just leave. Had us laughing. read more

This restaurant is a true slice of Americana. Go to this town, talk to the staff, stand outside while you wait for your food and maybe you'll get lucky like me and some random guy will give you the history of Newburgh and Tony's. Ate here for the 1st time today, guys I work with chose this spot for lunch. I had a sandwich with me, but they insisted I have either a burger or a Frank, so I went burger. All I can say is that after work, I went back for 4 more burgers to bring home, I called my wife when I was done with lunch, asked what's for dinner, then asked her to put it away because I'm coming home with the best burgers ever! She had one, I had 3 haha, too good to stop eating, so 4 in one day for me. Tell ya what, I feel more vigor than I have in years, Tony may just have the fountain of youth here in Newburgh! Seriously though, I'll be back many times, great food in a great atmosphere, a gem on Broadway in Newburgh. read more

It's a hole in the wall, but you will never get a hot dog with what we call the works that tastes this good. There is a secret recipe chili sauce(which can be purchased) that makes me stop there as soon as I get off the plane from Fort Lauderdale. If my flight is Late i go there for lunch the very next day. Tony's is a gem of a find. A family run business in the City of Newburgh serving the community good eats for decades. The interior is dated but absolutely adds to the charm, a service bar with stationary stools and on the opposite wall an entire sprawl of black & white pictures of Newburgh in it's more humble beginnings. The food varies from omlettes, chili cheese dogs, BLT's and the county favorite "Tom-Tom". A large beverage selection, always fresh coffee and a couple of quick lipped waitresses really add to this old school feel, not to mention The owner, Tony, is grilling in the front marquee all morning & afternoon. read more

Having grown up in the area, I surprisingly never came to Newburgh Lunch because I've always been a die-hard customer of the nearby Pete's Hot Dogs. Like Pete's, Newburgh Lunch has been a fixture in Newburgh for several decades, is highly known amongst the locals, and is one of the few old-fashioned, long-standing eateries remaining in Newburgh. I finally went here and I was impressed with the food, the staff, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The person I was with and myself each ordered two hot dogs, fries and a can of soda. The bill was surprisingly cheap, the girl behind the counter walked it over to our table (although she wasn't a waitress and it clearly wasn't her responsibility to do this), and the food was decadent. The orders come up very quickly, so you can be out the door in 10 minutes after placing your order and eating. read more

Tony's has some seriously satisfying food for great prices. I had the Tom Tom Patty Melt (hamburger, bacon, and onions all inside a grilled cheese sandwich), which blew me away. So simple, yet so good. The onion rings were some of the best I've had, and altogether everything cost $5.50. The chicken tenders in my girlfriend's sandwich were better than most, and her fries were pretty good too. We were lucky to find this place after driving up and down Broadway looking for a decent, affordable place to have lunch. The waitress was really fun and friendly, and though we were out of towners, we appreciated that she seemed to know everyone else who came in -- talking with them about their new jobs, or relationships, or whatever else they had going on. It's a really comfortable place to grab a quick, delicious bite. It's clean and all the equipment and seating are modernized, but otherwise Tony's seems like it's been there forever, keeping this whole town fed. read more

Newburgh Lunch has been one of our favorite spots forever. We ordered lunch to take out today and it was amazing! We love the hot dogs, always have... that sauce is amazing!!! But the Tom-Tom is my personal favorite! When you live near a place and can have it anytime, sometimes you forget to share how fantastic our local places are! I have been eating texas wieners at Newburgh Lunch for 61 years, since they were downtown. I used to take 2 with everything (onions, mustard and extra sauce) into the Ritz theater, on lower Broadway. Everyone knew you had them because the odor would permeate the whole place. They were and are the best I have ever had. I've tried others but no other can compare. I knew Tony's father and uncle...great guys. Tony sells the sauce in a Mason jar now. Do I buy it? You bet I do. It's great on fries and burgers too. read more

This is the best place for burgers dogs, and fries in town. I have been comming here all my life and i have never been disappointed. Make sure you get the sauce on whatever you get. My favorite is a dog and fries both with cheese and sauce, or a hamburger with sauce, onions, and bacon. I always leave here very full and happy. The staff is awesome!!! read more

It was a little messy so I was glad I was outside to enjoy it. It's a small space inside (perhaps 5 square table for 2 each) and it's almost kitty corner to my favorite shop, Oliver & Chatfield. Since it's a little further down on Liberty street, you'll find plenty of street parking.

The Wifey and Eggplant Parm were both solid, but the French Dip was dry and the au jus bland (the meat to bread ratio was also a little low), and the Cuban was overwhelmed by the picked onions and mustard. The chickpea fries are an interesting creation, but were a bland. Willing to give them another try and see how their other offerings compare.

This place is counter service, so we made our way directly to the register to place our order. Upon ordering, we were warned that it would be at least a 30 minute wait until our food was ready due them being short staffed. I took a photo of my Gatorade bottle laying next to it for comparison (haha). I hardly ate half of it because it was so filling, however it was definitely delicious. My husband ordered a sandwich of his own (although I can't remember which one) and he was equally pleased. We also ordered a side of tots which were crispy and salty, just how I like them! My husband and I definitely could've shared one sandwich as we both don't eat a lot in one sitting, so this is something to keep in mind if you're reading this before your first visit here!! The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we chose to sit on the front patio. It was such a lovely atmosphere for lunch! Also, because we were sitting outside, they told us to come back in 30 minutes to check if our order was ready because we wouldn't be able to hear them call our name.
