This is a fantastic local Mexican restaurant in Zona Romantica, PVR. If you're craving some delicious Mexican cuisine, including steak, seafood, and chicken, this is the place to be. Every dish I've ordered has been absolutely amazing, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. The service here is also top-notch. It reminds me of a 90s Mexican restaurant I used to go to growing up. Service was good. The other people in the place seemed to love it, and had clearly been there before. We've been fans of Tony's for more than a decade. The "Please" came from a signpainter not understanding that "Place" was wanted, but now it's a thing! I hesitate to share our love of this place, where the family is warm and the food not only excellent but consistent. Try the garlic soup!!! And my favorite is the most expensive plate: chicken tetrazzini with a small peppered filet on the side. OMG. Long live Tony and all his family!! Note: It's not air conditioned, but the fans are good and you won't care. Especially after one of Tony's margaritas. It's become so popular that reservations are now a must. read more

I so wanted to like my food at this restaurant, because it was packed and I thought how could I go wrong. Well, I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, the filet mignon steak. I ordered the play cooked medium rare, and it was the worst filet cut I've ever received. It was so full of gristle and fat, I couldn't cut into it with my steak knife. I don't even really know what it tasted like, because every mouthful, I had to basically spit it back out on my plate. I have cooked many a fillet myself, so you can tell instantly if there's something wrong with the meat before it is cooked, so I don't know how the chef could've mistakenly served me a such a poor piece of fillet. When I saw the meat, it was covered in a mushroom sauce, so it's hard to see it, but when I remove the sauce, the piece of meat was unidentifiable. Long story short, I would not recommend ordering the fillet mignon steak. So disappointing. read more

First off, there was a line in frot of Tony's Please, the measure of a good restaurant. A family place, it was established in 1978. According to regulars we spoke with in line, the second generation was now in charge. I'm an American visiting Mexico. I don't know why I would think that just because a dish had an American name that it would taste anything like what I was used to. My date ordered the Chicken Parmesan. It arrived looking like flat pieces of chicken with something wrapped around it. No pasta, no smothering red sauce. I ordered chicken livers, thinking I'd get a big old mess of greasy fried livers. What I got was little chunks of liver smothered in a brown gravy. I took a picture of both dishes to prove to friends back home just how bizarre people here mistakenly cooked these dishes. Contempt prior to investigation came to mind as we began to taste.... Wowsers!! The chicken parmesan was actually encrusted with melted cheese. It was probably one of the most interesting recipes I've ever tasted. Nothing like the chicken parmesan I'm used to, but far, far better. There was just a little drizzle of a sauce on the side of the plate that tasted like a very light red sauce, maybe like a vodka sauce. It was simply used for dipping. It wasn't smothered like we're used to in the states. ¡delicioso! Now, the livers. I don't eat them often, but every now and then I get a craving. Our neighbor had them the night before and said they were really good. When I saw them I was very disappointed. One of the reasons I like them back home is because I can cover them with ketchup. I know it's weird, but that's just the way I eat them. And really by themselves, they don't taste so good, that's why I use ketchup. I hesitated, took a bite. SURPRISE!! I didn't need ketchup! They were cooked just right without breading and the brown gravy was light in taste, adding just a bit of cover-up for the livers. Cleaned my plate and felt bad that I'd felt betrayed in the beginning. Bottom line: if you think you are going into Tony's Please to get an American dish, I'm telling you now that you'd be wrong! They do take reservations, but no credit cards. With tip, we paid $530 pesos. Very reasonable for the splash of flavors! read more

The Chicken Tatazoni had wooden skewers hidden inside which cut my gums. Owners is a good chef but not very well at receiving suggestions to inform patrons and caused anxiety as a result. No tip and ensure you read the fine print on the menu as they do not except credit cards which made it even more heated. (Must be wanting to cheat the government at tax time) Worse experience ever. read more

Year after year, this family operated restaurant continues to serve up great hospitality and food. Off the beaten path but any foodie visiting Puerto Vallarta will be thrilled with this place. Their broccoli or avocado soups are a great starter. All menu items served with a house salad. Without a doubt the best shrimp crepes I have ever eaten. The sauce is something dreams are made of. The service was attentive. They began by providing chips and pico de gallo. Quite. It only included tomatoes and onions and a small amount of jalapeño. They only offer a white wine from Chile and a red wine from Chile and there are no other wine options. The white wine was very average. We also ordered guacamole, which was good. My wife ordered the shrimp crêpes and I ordered the black and white steak (medium rare). The crêpes were tasty, but the sauce was so watery that the crêpes just fell apart in the sauce. My steak was tough. The white sauce was a blue cheese cream and it was quite good but the black sauce tasted like a hoisin with too much vinegar. The mashed potatoes were good but the cauliflower and broccoli were so overcooked. I could have mashed them into a purée with a fork. The baked bread they served was quite good. The total was over 1000 pesos and while that isn't a huge amount for a good meal. this wasn't. There are better places to spend your money for food and value. read more

Not bad by any means, but people raved about this place and honestly, we were underwhelmed. The food was fine, the service was excellent, but for the price there is so much better food in the area. I had the Mexican plate, hubby had a steak. We started with soup. I had avocado soup. He had onion. It was exactly the same except for those two ingredients thrown in. Salad came with each order- lettuce, one tomato slice and two carrot slices. The homemade flan was, I admit, really good. As I said before, it was "fine". The best steak I've had in Puerto Vallarta. I got the pepper steak. It's actually a filet mignon, pepper crusted, fork tender, cooked medium rare to perfection. Served with mash potatoes and vegetables. I love this steak so much that I've been twice now in a 2 week period. My friend got the shrimp crepes with a chipotle sauce. Got introduced to Tony's by some friends. Met them for dinner. Great family restaurant, Tony and a wonderful guy. The soups are delicious, I had the onion soup which was fantastic, not like French onion, just better. Had a very good entrée list, all the items were really good. Definitely everything is handmade. Had the flan for dessert and I must tell you, it rivaled crème brûlée. Definitely out-of-the-way, but only by a block really, and worth the trip. You're going to really see this area, north of insurgent's, and populated with more restaurants and bars. read more

I have eaten at many of puerto Vallarta's "best" establishments. While some of them were good this is the first review I have felt compelled to post. Tony's is a lovely family owned establishment in the heart of old town. My husband and I have been here twice this trip. We have had the shrimp fajitas and tonight the pepper steak and shrimp. We'd walked by Tony's several times over the last week and saw how the place was buzzing night after night, so we finally checked it out for dinner last night and can see why it's regularly packed with happy diners. I had the avocado soup and my husband had the broccoli soup - both were amazing and we'll go back just for those! The fajitas were spiced perfectly and the margaritas were so good I may have overindulged, slightly. Tony was a gracious host, initially telling us, with great disappointment that he couldn't seat us for 40 minutes, but then as we walked off, he called us back and slipped us into a table. For us, Tony's Please really does please!! This restaurant in the city's south side has been a big favourite of ours over the past several years. The restaurant is located in a neighbourhood just two short blocks east of Insurgentes, one of the main north-south streets in the this part of the city. It's a small, family owned and operated restaurant - with Tony and his brother Oscar waiting/serving the tables, and Mom or Aunt in the kitchen preparing the food. Nice folks, offering a good selection of well-prepared food (Mexican and International fares, including steaks, fish, and seafoods), via warm, and friendly service. And everything so reasonably priced. What we've enjoyed: shrimp crepes (four crepes on a plate, smothered in savoury cheeses and sauce - beats most offerings of lasagna anywhere) -- breaded cutlets (two large, juicy, and tender breaded cutlets, served with fries or rice, and selection of veggies) -- tampaquena steak plate (two good-sized pieces of moist and tender arrachera beef steak, served with a cheese-stuffed chilli relleno, and all the other ingredients of a typical Mexican plate - frijoles, enchilada, guacamole, rice, and quesadilla) -- filet mignon steak (a tender and juicy steak, smothered with mushrooms and mushroom sauce, served with fries or rice, and selection of veggies). All entrees are preceded by nacho chips and salsa, and then a small, fresh, green salad, and loaf of warm and crusty bread in a basket - yum!! Tasty, well-prepared and presented, good value-priced offerings, served up in a casual and pretty little place, in a nice neighbourhood setting. I was just walking by last week on my way up to the Fruit & Vegetable market and saw the owner sweeping and cleaning to prepare for the evening meal. This place was already so clean he really was just making sure that everything was perfect for his customers. I chatted with him for a few minutes and decided right then I needed to bring the crew back for dinner- what an amazing menu! Shrimp Tetrazzini, Chicken Parmesan, Filet Mignon with Mushroom Sauce...and the cream soups! Asparagus, Broccoli, Carrot- all made to order with plenty of cream & butter- so if you don't get a picture in your mind yet let me describe the menu: homemade style Mexican favorites, steakhouse favorites, his own twist on Italian Homestyle, all made fresh in a small family owned establishment that pays attention to the details that make your whole experience better than you expected when you walked into the place- oh yeah, did I mention that this place is really clean and tidy? Went in for dinner...again. Started off w fresh chips and pico de gallo, then ordered guacamole, a must have here. Hubby had the fish and shrimp which was fresh and delicious. I had the enchiladas suizas which is super hot and tasty with leftovers because the portion is huge, especially after the salad and warm bread and butter. Yum... Drinks I recommend the pina colada, or a cold Pacifico. Constantly good, you don't feel rushed, ask for the bill when you're ready to leave. read more

Had been having dinner at Tony's Please, the last few visits to Puerto Vallarta. We've always had a delicious meal. Tony provides great service and had managed to stay on business in a town that thrives on tourists. I had the peppered steak tettrazini (with pasta in white sauce). The peppered steak was delicious but pasta was not exceptional. I recommend getting the peppered steak entree. Steak was tender and not too peppery. Husband had the shrimp tettrazini which was prepared different and very delicious! Son ordered the jumbo shrimp which had 4 shrimp: 2 stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, 2 coconut shrimp. Shrimp was clean and fresh and extremely tasty! I think this was the best menu item. Daughter was craving meat and ordered the Mexican style beef tips. The plate was wiped clean. Beef was extremely tender and flavorful. We shared two slices of flan for dessert, which Tony claims was they best on the block. One had coffee liqueur on top, the other without. We preferred it plain. It was delicious flan with a nice texture and flavor. We will be visiting Tony's Please again! read more

We visited Tony's based on previous reviews and our passion to visit local establishments that are off the beaten path. I hate to say it but the only reason I gave Tony's two stars was the hospitality of the owner Tony. He was friendly, prompt, and very gracious. Unfortunately, the food was American style Mexican, we could have had any of the four entrees at a chain restaurant in Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York. I will say that the Garlic Soup was unique and very good. read more
