Not sure what happened to Jose, maybe they changed ownership? We've been coming here for years and have his year they have gone downhill. I ordered the surf and turn and they were out of lobster- at 8 PM Friday before a holiday weekend. They subbed a couple shrimp and charged me the full price. The filet was just OK. We also had the garlic shrimp, and the plate was very minimal. 4 medium shrimp and it was just OK. The staff didn't look happy and the overall experience was as definitely not what it use to be. There is no where else that makes a Caesar salad like this place. I never knew that ordering a Caesar salad would come with a full on table preparation. It tasted PERFECT!!! It was a group of us that went and everyone loved their dishes and I will be visiting here on our next vacation. read more

I never review food. this place is so fantastic and will live in the pantheon of the best meals of my life. Miguel our waiter had the best recommendations and made me both the best banana flambé and Cesar salad I've ever had. During our entire meal I thought they were playing a beautiful classical guitar playlist as we were sitting outside but no they had a fist rate guitarist playing live all evening. Yes, Way Jose! This is my first five-star review in PV, I think I may have found my all-time favorite restaurant for many reasons. The ambiance is lovely, you are seated on the top floor of an open-air terrace which is beautifully decorated. The owner has an amazing voice and periodically sings throughout the evening. The food was great. The service was great. The music....not. Not at all. Fellow was a fine guitar player but an absolutely horrible singer. And he insisted on singing quite a lot. A badly wounded Bedouin goat herder was what he sounded like. We kept praying he'd take a break but he also has considerable stamina as he went on and on. And on. This place was recommended to us by a local friend. We arrived a few moments before they opened up for dinner so we hung out in the downstairs waiting area. When all was ready we were led upstairs to an outdoor patio. The patio was beautiful and it lets you take in the life of the city. There are a few tables along the outside rail that would be perfect for a romantic date. We ordered the tortilla soup for a starter. The staff was very nice and split the soup into two bowls for us so we didn't have to share the one bowl. The soup was some of the best I've had in PV. I ordered the chicken mole and was blown away. The sauce was delicious and the chicken melted in your mouth. I would like to extend a big Thank You to the owner(s) and team for your love and support of the LGBTQ community. So wonderful from the food/service to the atmosphere to the mariachi band. Not exactly sure how I came across this place originally either via Yelp or another angle but so glad I gave it a try. It's defiantly worth going and not on the main strip which I actually prefer. The main dining area is upstairs so if you walk up and see the downstairs empty don't worry at all. Upstairs is where it's at with an open air dining room and balcony. The service was really outstanding. Our waiter was one of the best I have had in a long time. The mariachi band was really good and played at a volume that was just right. No Way Jose is one of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. Don't book your trip until October 15th when the restaurant is open for the busy season. But even if you come off-season like we did, it is still worth it. Jose was there and talked with us. One of his cooks made us a real Caesar Salad in front of us. They had 2:1 drink specials going and they made us Shrimp Fahita's (one order makes six fahita's which is plenty of food). Service was impeccable and we had the restaurant to ourselves. The chef made a few complimentary appetizers. With three Mohito's, two Coronas, the Caesar salad and Fahita's, our bill was 477 pesos which was very reasonable. If you go full season, you got to try the stuffed chicken. I don't remember the proper name, but we've been thinking of this one dish for the last four years!! read more

We had the great fortune to dine at No Way Jose for a friend's birthday that was arranged by its owner, Julie Guerrero. The food was not only amazing but the ambiance they provided for the evening was extraordinary. NWJ is now one of our best destinations to PVR. We dined al fresco in the roof terrace and Julie provided all the best for the occasion from the linens, candles, center pieces, and a very delicious dinner. I had the snapper and it was fresh and cooked just the right way. Their mole is one of the best tasting in Old Town PVR too. So the next time you have a special occasion to celebrate down Mexico Way, or just to dine around town, don't hesitate to contact the restaurant and they will provide you not only with excellent service but also an exciting evening you will never forget. I had a hankering for Chiles en nogada and was told this restaurant had a good one on the menu. I arrived shortly after opening with my dear friend. We were greeted by the owner, walked through the air conditioned bar space downstairs and lead to the spiral staircase to the restaurant. Only two other tables were occupied and there were more staff than patrons so we received the most attentive service! I ordered the drink special - a cucumber chile margarita (which honestly wasn't very good) and my friend ordered a Mexican mule which arrived in a boot! There was a harp player serenading diners with his lovely music. Food was delivered promptly and presentation was top-notch! My chiles were absolutely delightful. My friends dinner was also quite delicious. I text another friend of mine how good the Dish was so he had me order him one to go!! Ten stars!!! I've eaten here three times so far and intend to be back! Once about two years ago, last night AND tonight. Yes it's really that good! Last night I had Chiles en Nogales and tonight I had Chicken Mole. But before the chicken I had a Cesar Salad they actually make, and make the dressing too right at your table! Amazing! Last night I had the Muscles in an incredible sauce. The Chicken Mole was very good and cooked just right. Tonight I had the Flan for dessert. Everything is amazing! The presentation, the food, the service, and the atmosphere! But most of all the Chiles en Nogales is off the chart incredible and highly recommended!!!! This place must be great for big parties but I was a solo diner who ordered fish tacos, water and coffee. The 'owner' (I guess?) was busy, very busy going from table to table saying 'Hola a todos' Pero he did not say one word to me. Not only that, but the fish tacos were pure crap: think plain fish sticks on a dry, empty tortilla w a side of mediocre salsa. That's it. And then my bill was $230 pesos (that like $15 USD). On my trip to mexico I got to say this was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I really dig the whole city of Puerto La Verta it's super nice ambiance of this place really put it over the top. It wasn't that busy and the owner of the place even took our order and helped with the whole process. I went on a cruise with my family and extended family so it was a large group of us. There was a total of 12 people. The food here was great, it was fresh well made and you can tell fresh. It has a good lighting and located off a main street. With 12 people drinks I covered to the bill to score some points with my family it was about $150 US with tip for 12 people to eat. Everyone really loved there food but what really took this place to the top of the list. The owner checked on us and talked to us about the sights and whats good. The owner pulled out a special taquilla bottle that had a full grown peach inside of it. They put up the bottle and let the peaches grow inside of the bottle and then make the fresh taquilla from the agave into the bottle. I'm not really a big drinker but he made this at his family house and brought it in to only share with family's. And get this it was ON The house. So we had 10 shots of his super good stuff on the house. After the great service and cheap eats I made sure to leave a great trip and it really is one of the most enjoyable places I have eating with my family. It was our top place we ate the whole trip and helped created a great memory of Puerto La Verta and the great places to go there. read more

Sometimes you get lucky. I asked my taxi driver coming from the airport for a few restaurant suggestions. His first recommendation was No Way Jose. It stuck in my head because my father's name was José. That night my partner & I went. OMG. Carlos greeted us, escorted us upstairs and we found our new favorite restaurant. Tortilla soup & filet mignon was my new diet. My advice is simple. Go, eat, enjoy José's charismatic energy and discover what a dining experience should be. Gratifying in every respect. A wonderful place we visit each time in PV. Not hectic and crowded but elegant and more attention to service and detail. Excellent food. This time I had the stuffed chicken breast, delicious, my son was in the mood for simple pastas d he really enjoyed it, saying it had a lot of flavor. The red snapper Veracruz was good, not fantastic. The service is great, the owner is hands on and sang a few songs with the guitar players when we were there. Quite a performance when it comes to the flaming banana dessert and flaming coffee especial and they tasted delicious. Mexican accessibility means that staff can carry a wheelchair up and down the tight winding staircase if necessary. read more
