Spectacular customer service from our server, Kayla. Great prices and the food is always fresh, hot and comes out quickly. The menu is on the table to be scanned to your phone. They also provided us with 1 printed menu. The printed menu is 2 sided and much easier to read then on the phone and even easier to read then their old menu. We noticed they've also removed all the condiments from the tables including the salt and pepper shakers. We're fine with this and Kayla was happy to bring over anything we needed. The grilled cheese sandwich on challah bread was very tasty along with coleslaw, a pickle and fries (accompanied on the plate with a plastic container with enough ketchup for all the fries). The combo tongue sandwich with matzo ball soup was equally as tasty. Price points are very reasonable, portions are more than sufficient and 2 people can eat a nice meal for around $25. This is our go to place for matza ball soup that's for sure. Today, however, we were going in to have breakfast. It was Saturday morning and the wait was short and were escorted quickly to our booth. We found a $5 off $20 purchase and with prices being as reasonable as they are we had a difficult time, for just the 2 of us, to get to the $20 total (not complaining, that's a good thing!) So, we decided to take some matzo ball soup home for lunch and the and this barely got us to our requested total of $20. The only complaint my wife had, and it was legitimate, was that the brits were way too dry. However, the waitress offered to exchange it for something different, but my wife had her mind set on the grits and we ended up leaving those behind. Woot! Woot! I've found my go-to place when craving Jewish food! First off all, didn't realize this was a deli which focused on Israeli cuisine and so was super stoked when one of the first things that jumped out to me from the menu was the Matzo Ball soup!! Its been ages since I've been invited to a Jewish Passover Seder meal and eating here, really just took me back to when I had lived in cities with friends of the Jewish faith who had invited me to celebrate their food and traditions. Anyway, I digress. So I had gotten a postcard with x3 coupons for TooJays (there was a buy one get one 1/2 off 2nd entree, a $5 off $25 and $40 for a meal for 2) and so a friend/work colleague and I found ourselves without lunch and decided to come here to eat and check the restaurant out. Neither of us had eaten at a TooJay's before but the location was close to our work (only 10 min drive) and the coupon definitely made it a very attractive proposition too! My friend had never had Matzo Ball soup before, so we asked the server (Paula) who very kindly split the Bowl and then I got Fish and Chips, while my co-diner got the Dill Chicken Sandwich on Challah Bread (since she'd never had that before). For dessert we got their 2 for $10 deal - we split the chocolate cake and she took the banana cake home for her kids. I really really liked the taste of the Matzo Ball soup served here. I'd absolutely come back as the chicken stock was smooth and rich. The Matzo itself too was just so good, with a beautifully firm texture. Often the taste can be too starchy, but the Matzo at TooJays had some lovely herbs and tasted like the best kind of comfort food. My fish and chips were okay. Nothing majorly spectacular, but the fish wasn't overcooked and it made a good meal at lunch. My friend enjoyed her enormous serve of the Dill Chicken Sandwich - it was massive enough that she could take 1/2 of the slice home. The Challah bread was good, but we should have asked for it to be toasted, so that egg-sweet brioche flavors would have been more prominent. I enjoyed the chocolate cake - it hit the spot as I was craving some chocolate, but it was massively rich and ended up taking 1/2 to-go and ate that later on the afternoon at work as my 3'o' clock snack. One other note - our waitress, Paula was courteous, friendly and provided our table with excellent service. TooJay's was never a great deli/restaurant, but it was always acceptable as a reminder of the classic New York Jewish deli. Unfortunately, it seems to have slipped to something lower. I hadn't been there in a while because a previous visit was sub-par as well, but decided to give it a try with my girlfriend. The place had a slightly unpleasant smell when we entered, but it wasn't bad enough to turn us around. The deli cases upfront, which used to be stocked with delicious looking food, was not very appealing. Quite the missed marketing opportunity. The large space was almost empty - not a good sign. I ordered my go to brisket dinner and my partner just went with a bowl of matzoh ball soup. The soup came out first and was tasty, but my dinner was a disappointment. The dish used to come with nicely-trimmed slices of brisket piled on a couple of huge potato latkes (pancakes) and smothered in mushroom gravy. What I was served this time was unevenly cooked, fatty slices of meat and couple of silver dollar sized latkes. The gravy was fine. I spend most of my time trimming the meat so that I could eat it. It would have been nice if the cook had done it before the dish was served. The waitress saw what I has doing and apologized, then brought me a fresh order of brisket and gravy (without latkes) in a to-go box. She was the only reason this wasn't a 1-star review. Adding insult to injury was the post-Covid inflated prices... Getting less for more is never a good look. read more

Had a nice lunch here today at TooJay's. You can always get a good indication a place has good food by the amount of customers inside. This place was packed! I had the grilled chopped sirloin with mashed potatoes and carrots. This chopped sirloin is one of the best I have had. The gravy sauce was so rich and delicious. The mashed potatoes were good. The carrots were a bit too sweet for my taste. I think maybe sugar was added. I wish people would not add extra sweetness to carrots because when you cook them they are already get sweet. I had a side salad which was ok. The salad tasted like it came from a salad bag (if you know u know). It's not the same as fresh lettuce. The Challah bread was dry. I think they leave it out for a time it instead of storing it in a bag and taking it out as needed. My family liked the other items. The turkey was moist. The burger was juicy and not over cooked. My family and I ate here last Saturday afternoon to celebrate a birthday. Upon entry there's a deli case/bakery to the left and a line to wait in for table service to the right. We waited a few minutes for our table, even though it didn't seem terribly busy at 2:30 PM, but whatever. We were sat and met promptly by our waitress who took our orders. And that's where the promptness ended. Everything else took a verrrrry long time, even just drinks took about 15 minutes. We ordered potato pancakes as our appetizer and there were definitely enough for 3 adults with leftovers to take home. They're much thicker than I'm used to, but still delicious. It was a good thing that I ordered that appetizer bc our entrees took an absurd amount of time. Perhaps the kitchen was backed up (except it wasn't crowded) or maybe someone was a no show, I have no idea but if things are taking a long time, it's a good idea to let your table know and apologize (even if it's not your fault, you'll earn a lot of patience this way) I ordered the brisket dip and it was delicious. My kids ordered the cheeseburger and grilled cheese. Neither one complained about ANYTHING which is honestly amazing. Ok service, limited menu for us as vegetarians, expensive, and rushed service left us searching our souls for the reason we decided to try this place. I had been to one in another location many years ago and it was pretty good. I feel like I remembered a bar of condiments like pickles and olives that I really enjoyed. This location did not have that and I don't know if it's a thing of the past or was unique to our location. Unfortunately the menu really wasn't for us as there were limited vegetarian options as mentioned earlier. The location was very close to where I was participating in a class so it was easy. The service was pretty quick once we finally sat down. It did take us a while for someone to greet us while we were waiting to be seated and then to take our order. They were quick to take our money when the bill came. The food we ate was pretty good so I can't really knock them on the quality but this isn't really a high-end place. It's focused on simple things like sandwiches and omelettes. The only positive parts of the lunch my husband & I had today was that Ed, our server, was exceptionally nice, professional & personable and that the manager comped our meal without us having to ask. Oh My Goodness !!! This Deli Restaurant is less than 2 miles from my home of almost 2 years but have missed out until today. We stopped here before Publix (formerly Safeway off Palm Springs) to not shop hungry and we succeeded. Friendly greeting from behind the deli counter who let us know we had an option for take out or sit down. We chose sit down and was greeted again by a friendly hostess and then our server Heather. I have been going to Toojay's ever since they opened in the Orlando area. It is a great place to go by yourself or a large group. From this location I have had takeout two times. The first time I ordered Nova on an everything bagel with cream cheese, lettuce greens, tomato and capers. It was excellent, it even came with a side of fruit. Good meal that day. On my next visit I ordered a Triple J, to go, on rye. A Triple J is corned beef, roast beef and turkey all rolled up in Toojay's signature style with cole slaw in the middle. You just might have to dislocate you jaw to be able to open up your mouth big enough to take a bite out of this one. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ever ordered from a Toojay's. Their Rueben sandwich is the standard which I use to compare all other Rueben's. Salads are plentiful and always fresh. I could go on and on about how good their food us. The food and service at this place are incredible!! Went there twice this week since my nephew was born in the hospital next door to it. First visit, we had the matzo ball soup, chicken liver salad, traditional chicken salad, egg salad, potato salad, reuben sandwich with pastrami, and Turkey avocado sandwich. ALL were fantastic!! Second visit, we had the matzo ball soup again, egg salad sandwich, and salmon entree. Everything was delicious! Ed was our server, and he was fantastic! He even gave us some mini black and white cookies to take to my sister (the new mommy) for free. We also bought some baked goods and desserts from their awesome deli! WARNING TO THE KOSHER CONSUMER I was in the area for a writer's conference last weekend. Afterwards, I was looking for someplace kosher during the extra day afterwards that I spent spent at the hotel. Going to Toojay's hoping to get some good meat, I saw things on the menu I found questionable in terms of being kosher. It turns out this deli / restaurant is, "kosher-like," and not actually kosher. I turned around, and walked out. Stating they are kosher is misleading. While I'm not strictly religious, or even completely kosher, I am when it comes to meats. Glatt & Bet Yosef are preferred. This place mixed meat and dairy in the same meal, as perhaps did other non-kosher things. If you don't mind eating non-kosher food, this place may be fine. If you do keep kosher, at least with meat like I do, then you're best staying clear of this place. read more
