TooJay's is always fantastic! We arrived here for late breakfast./ early lunch on a weekend. We were seated immediately and the restaurant is nicely spaced out so it is comfortable Noise levels are not too bad. I ordered a Rachel sandwich while my wife ordered front eh breakfast menu waffles, egg, & bacon. My sandwich is fantastic. Payed in was the meat, Swiss, etc. The sides I got with it were coleslaw and onion rings. I suppose I truly don;t know what a "legit" Jewish deli restaraunt is like.....but I would imagine the food woudl be like this place! I swung by Too Jays to choose one of their scrumptious cakes for hubs bday. It was such a hard choice. I was stuck between their lovely red velvet, carrot cake, or banana dream among many other promising contenders. Ultimately I ended up with the banana dream as we are filled with banana bread and walnut lovers in my house. So either way I was coming out a winner or so I thought because it only lasted about 2 days in the fridge - despite it being a big cake - and they fought like savages for crumbs! To me the cakes are worth the price tag and its nice to see a loved ones face when you show up with it in hand. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their cakes and I always will recall the time it was gotten for me. A cake that brings a sweet feeling indeed. read more

Cuban Pork sandwich was actually good. Hard to find a good Cuban outside of Tampa and Miami

I went there yesterday with my daughter looking for our usual delicious meal. I was so disappointed. My daughter ordered the Shepard pie. It was very small with two dabs of mashed potatoes over a small amount of ground beef and vegetables and two slices of melt cheese on top. I ordered a Rubin that was so soggy that I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. The French fries weren't up to any restaurant standards. I made a to go order for my husband of a liverwurst sandwich. It was so salty that it wasn't inedible. It wasn't up to the usual standards of the last time we ordered it. It's a pity how standards often translate to neglect. What I mean is that two jays has always been a staple and continues to deliver as excellent a product as is possible with the constant changing of tastes. Was therefore excellent breakfast this morning and certainly not one that the average person can consume in entirely. The food is really good, nicely sized portions for a variety of appetites. Great for splitting or taking have to go for a second meal. On physically tiring days in the sun it's just the right portion size to get back out and going again. It's a nice family diner style atmosphere, you can take items to go or wait by the hostess stand to be seated. The service has been really good the 2 visits we have had here. I took my friend out for breakfast after work. She recommended this diner. The food was plentiful and delicious. I had a vegetable omelet with English muffins and a side of fruits, and she had the all meat omelet. The servings good for two so, I took the remainder home. The service was on point. Everything we used to love about TooJays is gone, except the bakery. The beloved salmon with dill has been replaced by a tired, overcooked piece of fish with a fake orange sauce they call "hollandaise". Not even close. The mashed potatoes have no flavor. And even sadder, my burger-loving beau says the burgers have hit the skids as well. They're trying to scrimp of food costs and meanwhile are raising prices. Used to be a frequent place for us to go because the food was always delicious, fresh, and plentiful. However, lately the quality of food, freshness, and portions seem to have declined, while prices have increased. Also some recipes have changed. For example, they used to have the most delicious tuna salad but they have changed their recipe and it is no longer good at all. Dark tuna, none of the previous good flavors in the recipe. Better quality tuna salad can now be had at Publix or Subway. Would not order again. Vegetables served in salad were not fresh and were quite limited compared to past years. Service always has been and continues to be excellent. However, afraid they are cutting costs in ways that make the food less tasty and the restaurant less of an attractive option. If the food doesn't stay high quality, it loses its appeal. read more

By far our favorite hands down lunch restaurant in Orlando. Toojays is always phenomenal. My wife gets the egg salad every single time. Me? I stick with the rachel. This time around we decided to start with a kinish. It was just as delicious as we remembered it. My only wish is that it was a little crispier. Next I ordered a half sandwich & soup combo. The Rachel is always my go to. Pastrami and some other stuff but the steak fries sing to my soul. All in all we missed toojays since we now live in Charlotte. We will return. What a treat! This is my first experience but definitely won't be my last. There were so many options to choose from especially because you can order lunch or breakfast during breakfast hours. I couldn't resist eggs Benedict deli style which included corn beef. As you can see from my picture there is no shortage of food on the plate. I love a good deli and TooJay's was a good choice. As per the wholly diner doctrine the choices were too much for one day. We had a Cobb salad big enough for three, a patty melt and latkes. Excellent food combined with excellent service is an understatement. This place was a well oiled machine and you were never having to look for staff when needed. We usually love Toojays but this was a real disappointment. Ordered knish and it was really bland and not good. I had the chopped liver on challah and the bread was stale. This is my first time here. My boyfriend and his brother decided to take me here because it was one of their favorites growing up in Florida. I had the grilled cheese. I substituted my French fries for sweet potato fries. My boyfriend had the brisket beef dip. The grilled cheese was so good and the sweet potato fries were delicious as well. My boyfriend said his food was great. It was so much excellent flavors and it made us full. The strawberry lemonade was good. Always been a FAV of mine. *****The tomato soup is five stars just like made from scratch, all their soup is. I had the most delicious sun dried tomato egg wrap with spinach egg cheese and a side of oatmeal. Hot tea was in a nice big tea pot. Their water is on a purification system and tastes delicious! Service with Ed Was top notch he was so friendly and I could hear him having great banter with his regulars. The other server Kira was so cute in her reindeer ears - she delivered my food showing great teamwork... I heard Ed thank her. Christmas decor was very tastefully done to add some holiday cheer. Never been there for breakfast so we decided with a large celebration of people to give it a try- waffles were fluffy and looked great- egg omelette was great portion but over cooked so omelette actually hard and browned and smashed thin - but tasted good! slightly dry bc eggs overcooked. Oatmeal was great served with raisin and brown sugar. Many choices of awesome fresh Bread. When server asked how is everything one family member mentioned our two omelettes were over-cooked and server said sorry offered a new one but family member and I passed. Server was friendly, chatty. I Would have liked more tea... never asked or checked on my tea and no water refills. As soon as we paid our server ignored us. (Maybe she was just letting us hang and chat and assumed we had no more needs)? I tried to wait for her but she never came back... by then time I did see her I felt it was to late to ask for more tea so I asked for a water to go. The server brought it right away- she knew we were about to leave, that was great .... Water tasted horrible, not like the other water that was served previously that was purified. Maybe? they cut a corner bc it tasted like tap water - Florida tap water is not mistaken for purified water!! The other water we had been served before was much better so I knew it was there. If I was the restaurant manager I would make sure to hold a meeting and discuss that there is never a reason to use tap water. I also would insist each table be served until the get up and go, not until they pay. I've been in the I purification system (?) All restaurants these days have a purified water system it's up to the server what they give their guest. I mentioned to her when she came back as we were leaving that the water she just brought me was not good at all -she offered to give me a bottle of water so that was cool of her. If it wasn't for her offering the bottle I'd have given one star... as far as the taste of food I've had over the years (minus one dry omelette) food is awesome, great fresh flavors I'd give too jays a five star. This place is great! Not only is it a really good deli, but it's an awesome sit down place too. It had that diner feel to it. All the servers are friendly. The seats are comfortable, and the food is superb. I played it a bit safe with my food choice, getting the chicken tenders, but they were amazing. Nothing fancy about them, just high quality chicken and a perfectly seasoned, crispy breading. The fries were those thick cut fries too. They were perfect. Their deli options are really creative. I went to a different TooJays closer to my place and tried the tongue sandwich. I was surprised by how good it was. The sweets they have make my mouth water. I'm still yet to try any of them but it's a reason to go back for sure. Overall, this Deli/Diner is a real treat. It's not easy to find a place like this in Florida. I'm used to seeing em everywhere in New York, but they've been hard to find since moving down here. Very happy to have TooJays to go to. read more

Let me begin by saying the waitstaff is the best and very friendly. My spouse ordered the liver & onions. She was not asked a choice of vegetables and received candied carrots (not a diabetic food). She said the liver was delicious, but the mashed potatoes were too thick. She left the potatoes and the carrots. I had the chicken noodle soup & 1/2 pastrami on challah bread. The pastrami was delicious! But, it was a very skimpy 1/2 sandwich, there was only about 2.5 oz of meat. I couldn't eat the soup because of the strong taste of dill spice. My 2 friends ordered a pastrami sandwich to split and that sandwich was as scarce as my sandwich. I gave the soup to my friend and she identified the dill spice. I have been going to this TooJay's off and on since 1990 and although the prices have increased over the years, it appears the portions have been decreased. read more

We wanted to have a nice variety of breakfast items to chose from so we decided to eat at Too Jay's. The restaurant was busy but they came up with a table for six quickly. Our waiter was fantastic. For the table to sample we ordered the Strawberry French Toast ($8.99), Rugulach Beignets )$5.99) and the Latke Slidders. ($9.79) The Strawberry Fresh Toast was made with pound cake. The Slidders were made with beef and a latke for a bun. The Slidders were a little try but the taste was delicious and the French Toast was over the top. It was nice to try a bite but their regular french toast using the Challah bread is better. The Beignets taste like fried cookies. Our next order was Chicken and Waffles ($10.49), Lox Platter ($15.99) two Hash & Eggs ($19.19), Lox & Bagel ($12.99)and a French Toast Kids meal. ($5.49) Everything came out at the same time and at the right temperature. Nothing was missing and everyone enjoyed their menu choice. I had the bagel & lox and the lox was very fresh. I did not care for their everything cream cheese. I did not pay attention to the menu description and did not realize the change from regular was made on it. We left with a Mounds Cake ($26.50) because it looked delicious and we were not capable a eating another bite. This cake was delicious. It does not beat out the Banana Dream Cake but it is a nice switch up. read more
