Due to good reviews in Facebook and Google, I have my SUV repaired there last May due to a coolant leak and they said the radiator was done and needs to be changed. I paid about $800 for the repair. After just under 2 months, the coolant was leaking again so I took the car back thinking that they'll fix it with minimal charge under warranty. NOT!! They wanted more money and said that the damage this time was unrelated and it will cost me another $300+ to fix it. I declined because I lost my trust to these guys. They still charged me almost $60 for just that. Good luck in your decision if you want to use this shop. They want repeat customers...in a negative way for me at least. No repeat here for sure..and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know. read more

Had some brake work done on my Mercedes, about a year later the brakes were no longer functioning properly? I contacted Tools in Motion and they told me the brakes were under warranty but wanted to do an inspection. Upon inspection, they noticed a slide pin had not been properly lubricated and the brake pads got stuck in one position damaging several parts including the alloy wheel. Here is where it gets good. The mechanic said they refused to warranty it because and I quote "There is no way my service tech forgot to lubricate this" they charged me for the inspection But wait it gets better. I asked them to price out the parts to fix it, an hour later I hear back and they want 850 dollars using aftermarket parts. I priced the parts on the NAPA website and they came to 325 dollars. Will never use this garage again, after spending thousands of dollars on several cars they have the audacity to treat a good customer like this. Never again read more

I don't use a dealership for servicing my car, mostly due to the cost. I have been using Tools in Motion for about 2 years and keep going back for both my vehicles. Pros - Very friendly guys that are enjoyable to work with. - Honest service - always explaining the work required and showing worn parts. - Timely - they always give an accurate estimate of the time your service will be complete. Neutral - I miss the weekend appointments they offered previously, but I think it is great they can do this and have people not need to work weekends. Cons - Seems pretty costly - may not be far removed from the cost of a dealership based shop although I expect they are much more honest. read more

Had such an awful experience here. Came in to get my tail gate fixed on my 2007 Yukon. The first visit we spent $350 on parts and labor and it worked for 2 months, then quit. I wouldn't have fixed it again but now the new problem meant we couldn't open it. So I brought it in again....$375 later, it worked when I left the shop but again did not last. I should have learned my lesson but I brought it back a 3rd time and again it was now something else that was not working. Well... its got 300,000 km and we would be lucky to get $8500 for it but I asked Tim ( the owner, I assume) for his advice, would he fix it? He said who am I to tell you what to fix and what not to fix...."well you're my mechanic, I should be able to get your advice". He didn't like my responses. I was trying to stay calm but they were charging me $160 just to tell me, again that is still wasn't working and needed yet another part. He said "I am done with you Erin, get out of my shop!"....Don't trust this shop, they will just take your money and take your money and take your money. I want a mechanic who will give me good advice, one I can trust. read more

I have an unusual car. At 25+ yrs, they don't make parts for her anymore, so getting her through OOP was quite the experience. These guys were helpful, did a great job, and after several months of hunting down a super rare part the install went brilliantly, they did what they needed to do and didn't charge me an arm & a leg for it like anyone else might have considering the issues I faced bringing her into Alberta at that age. The engine heater issue was tricky, but they found a way to make it work. They've done some great work on D's beater to keep it road-worthy this winter, and they're very friendly and knowledgeable guys. I'll keep going back as long as I'm in the area, whenever my car needs something. It's nice to find a good trustworthy mechanic so close to home. read more

Just had an out of province inspection. We originally called for a price and were advised that it was $200+tax. We were charged $200+$20 for shop supplies. Was told this was for rags, uniforms etc. We had to get the brakes done, fair, fronts didn't pass. They gave me a price and checked around and I was surprised that it was cheaper to get them done at a VW dealer. We've been to Tools in motion several times and have always been satisfied by the level of service and fair pricing, we've even recommended family and friends to this establishment. But this kinda shocked me that getting the work done at a VW dealer would be less. We had to get the re-inspection done and again, we were charged the shop supplies. They did take it off when I commented on it. I'm giving 2 stars as they did accommodate us in a timely manner, but I'm disappointed in their pricing and charging fees that were not disclosed in a simple phone conversation. I'm not sure if this a result of Covid and the business is slower and they need to recoup costs. But if you are charging shop supplies, just say it up front and quote it in the price. It's $220, not $200, like were quoted on the phone. Now $20 may not sound like a lot, but to a university student, $20 is $20. read more

I'm not from airdrie but after trying to fix my own problem a few different ways I asked auto value who they would recommend and they suggested these guys. Super happy with the experience. I'm reasonably car savvy and they did only what really had to be done and were very upfront about what was going on. I would recommend these guys for sure. read more

From March 21, Calgary Herald: While an impromptu act of charity might have only taken a day's work and some wheeling and dealing for those who did it, the woman who received it is still astounded almost a month later. Chris Restall, a Calgary mom battling breast cancer, took her car to Tools in Motion in Airdrie to get a coolant leak fixed with a $250 gift certificate she'd won. But she walked away with almost $2,500 worth of work done, and wasn't asked for a single cent of compensation. She had already driven one car into the ground, travelling back and forth while sharing custody of her young son and getting to and from Foothills Hospital for cancer treatment, and she was well on her way to driving her latest ride, which only cost her $500 to buy, to a similar fate. She just didn't know how close she was -- the guys at Tools in Motion spotted it. "I live in my car -- I need my car," Restall said. "I have responsibilities and without my vehicle that would just make my life so much more difficult." Tools in Motion fixed the leak. They also replaced the tires, the fuel pump, the front wheel bearings, the brake pads and rotors, and the power steering hose, and they aligned the wheels, calling up partners Auto Value Parts Store, NAPA Auto Parts and Tire Wholesalers along the way in their goodwill endeavour. "They definitely went above and beyond . . . I was very shocked, and I was quite pleasantly surprised," Restall said. When she went to pick up the car, she said, the new tires were the first clues to what Tools in Motion had done. "I didn't know how to react, quite honestly -- I wanted to cry," she said. "They were just lit right up with all the work they did. They were standing there, shoulder-to shoulder, beaming . . . just smiling at me." I took my vehicle in because I notice a rough idle had developed, the tach fluctuated between 500 and 1000RPM. The mechanics were friendly and got back to me quickly. They told me they did not find any issues with the idle, but did notice that the transmission was shifting rough and at one point stalled. My spark plugs were also extremely worn which may have caused the intermittent idle issues. They investigated a few trouble codes and recommended that I have my struts replaced as they were badly worn and clean my throttle body which sounded reasonable at the time. The service job was done quickly and cost about $1800; however, that night I noticed my idle was now worse than before, and a day or two later the engine light came on which it had never done before and my engine was idling so rough that it actually shut off. I took the vehicle back and within a couple hrs I was told the engine appeared to be fine and they reset the code which indicated possible throttle body sensor issues or possible residue leftover from the throttle body cleaning. They reset the codes and said the vehicle should be fine and charged me another -$200 to reset the code and recheck the engine which really started to annoy me. Now, I am extremely dissatisfied because I had just spent $1800 to get my vehicle back in reliable condition and the engine issues seem to have been made worse so they charged me another $200 to recheck the engine. I was told if it happened again my next inspection would be free... It happened again and now a service electronic brake system message has appeared on my console.. I'm not happy at all with how this was handled and I think I will try another shop as I don't feel I should have to keep coming back and pay to have them reset new trouble codes and recheck issues that I originally brought the vehicle in for the first place! read more
