Originally I made a mistake of going to the dental surgeon recommended by our orthodontist. Two hours and $259 later just for laughing gas we returned home defeated. My son has a severe fear of needles and he would just not allow the surgeon to make the shots. Discouraged I called All About Kids to inquire with them on any recommendations. To my surprised I found out that they can perform this procedure. I made and appointment for consult and braced myself for another difficult try. My son felt an ease the moment we entered. He saw little kids and felt comfortable there. The assistant helped him pick the movie to watch then Dr Ursitti came over, assessed, and to eliminate the need for us to return again she has agreed to do the procedure right away. My son did attempt to get up several times during the procedure, however, both doctor and the assistant helped him get back to the task. I watched in awe how they reasoned with him. Everything was finished shortly after. My son was so happy and I was relieved. No laughing gas was used either ;) I will continue recommending this practice to everyone with kids! As for my son. Please understand that I don't know much about other similar providers, but I will share my thoughts about the care provided for my two children over the years. When we needed braces for our son, the name we were given was Dr. Kemp. He is the definition of local legend, and he's earned those accolades the hard way: He created a superior practice and provides amazing care for patients and family alike. Dr. Hall is the other heavy hitter in the office. Impressive in all ways, working with skill and compassion. If you're like me, environment plays a huge role in experience. Their office is spotless, smartly decorated, and inviting. More importantly, the office staff provides exceptional customer care. You lnow you're in good hands with this team, which speaks to the quality and thought given to hiring practices. Finally, and most importantly, I can boil down my experiences here to one word: Trust. She's been seeing therapists for years to help her with anxiety and she's come a long way, but when she still has anxiety / panic attacks. Well that's what happened at this dentistry when she had to get a couple cavities filled. Despite giving her nitrous oxide and trying different methods in calming her down, the poor thing was shaking and in tears. I asked the doctor if there's anything else that she could think of to get my daughter to undergo the procedure. Her suggestion: tying my child's entire body down to the chair. Yea, hard pass lady. This person should not be around kids. She should have her license revoked for even suggesting the idea. We wont be coming back here.

Also, I asked for upfront pricing as I do not have dental insurance, and the price was different at the end of the visit from what was quoted. I decided to give them another try, but the cleaning was just as quick, plus they gave me a really hard time about only wanting a cleaning with a hygienist and not getting x-rays or an exam by a dentist.

We use to love this practice because they worked with me when my now 10 year old was two, and had a…read morebunch of cavities. He has soft teeth and is very prone to them. He's also an asthma kid whose inhalers were creating more issues. At that time, they set up multiple appointments and did fillings without insisting on sedation or even gas. Fast forward to now and all has changed. We started having problems after starting ortho last fall. No issues with Dr. Wally as of yet. He seems fine, but we asked to skip x-rays during one cleaning visit because my son had a ton of them just a few months before for ortho. They refused to see him and we had to reschedule his cleaning. When they convinced us to come back and agree to X-rays because we couldn't move forward with ortho until we did, they found a couple of small cavities that were visible. We agreed to get them fixed, and set up an appointment, but they automatically added nitrous to the plan. I let them know I wasn't comfortable with the gas and that it seems overkill for a 10 year old that sits just fine for procedures. The doctor wouldn't make any promises on not requiring sedation (IV or gas). So, now we are taking my son to my dentist who will no doubt fill those tiny cavities with a bit of numbing. I am not sure why they insist on the excessive treatment that creates greater risk other than profits and possibly making the job extra easy on them, but it is absurd. They even admitted that other countries don't do as many x-rays when I brought it up. The drugs too are no joke, and at least the nitrous was not covered by insurance. I wish we hadn't started ortho here and they are quick to remind us that there are no refunds. In general another example of all that is wrong and broken in our healthcare system.

In September 2015 My daughter had an adult tooth growing behind her baby tooth. It's a condition…read moreknown as Shark teeth. We brought her to a dentist and were told that the tooth needed to be removed. Ok, that's fine. They also suggested that we do the same with the tooth beside it so we wouldn't have to make another visit. The tooth beside it wasn't loose nor was there an adult tooth behind it showing it's crown yet so we decided not to do that. After X-rays and front bottom tooth removal, the cost was $500.00. I felt the price was pretty ridiculous but I really didn't know any better because I had nothing with which to compare it. We ended up moving to Lake Zurich and took our daughter to Children's Dentistry Group. Four months later and the same situation occurred. and I needed to get my daughters x-rays sent over. This was a bit of a hassle because they only sent one x-Ray scan instead of all of them. That wasn't a big deal but it was something we had to deal with that was a bit annoying. The dentist told us that the remaining bottom front loose tooth had to go and so we agreed. After removal of the tooth at Children's Dentistry Group in Lake Zurich the bill came to $60.00 for the whole visit (granted no X-rays). Not only that, but when we asked about a top loose tooth the doctor said we did not need to do any other work there because it may fall out on it's own if she keeps wiggling it. It's nice to see children's dentistry group not suggesting is affordable, VERY good interacting with our little girls and they don't push unnecessary procedures, rather they are honest and not looking for a fast buck. It's nice they build a relationship rather than trying to skin a client when they have an opportunity. We'll go here until the kids are too big and we will recommend them to everyone! Avoid this practice…read more My three children were patients here for several years and had good experiences with some of the previous dentists they saw. Our recent experience with Dr. Nate was bad enough that we are moving all three elsewhere. My 13-year-old daughter is autistic and has sensory sensitivities and anxiety. These are documented in her chart. She needed two small fillings. I helped her get settled and, at her request, went to the waiting room because we have been gradually working toward more independence during appointments. She knows what to expect and has a comfort level with the dentists and office. I was never told she would be seeing a new dentist. Dr. Nate did not introduce himself, speak with me beforehand, or come out afterward to explain what had been done. My daughter was back in the waiting room within about 20 minutes. Once we got to the car, she told me she had received no local anesthetic. Her words were: "It hurt a lot and I didn't know why." She had never had a filling without numbing. No one told her beforehand that this appointment would be different. She did not understand why she was in pain while it was happening. For an autistic child with documented sensory issues and a strong need to know what is going to happen, that is not a minor communication failure, nor is it, I expect, best practice. When I went back inside to speak with Dr. Nate, he became defensive and blamed me for leaving the room. He insisted he had done everything correctly and said he had made a "judgment call" not to numb her. That completely missed the point. Whether local anesthetic was medically necessary was not the only issue. My daughter had a right to know what was being done to her body before it happened. She should not have been left lying in a dental chair wondering why something suddenly hurt. Dr. Nate then claimed he was doing her a favor by minimizing medication because of another medication she supposedly took and the possibility of interaction. She was not taking that medication. This had been communicated to the practice repeatedly and was confirmed again by staff before the appointment. He then discussed my child's medication in the waiting room, within earshot of other patients. The appointment also left her bite uneven. My daughter told him before leaving that her teeth were no longer touching properly on one side. According to her, his response was, "Interesting," and he sent her home. When I called to have the filling adjusted, office manager Amy told me that because my daughter was uncomfortable seeing Dr. Nate again, we would have to pay for a new exam with another dentist. So after an appointment in which my child experienced unexpected pain, poor communication, and an improperly adjusted filling, the practice's solution was to charge us again if she did not want to return to the same dentist. Amy also advised us to wait a few days to see whether the bite improved. When I asked whether leaving an uneven bite could damage the tooth, she said she could not answer because she was not a dentist. Apparently she was qualified to advise us to wait, but not qualified to explain whether waiting was safe. They also could not offer an after-school appointment to correct the problem, meaning my daughter would have to miss more school or wait until the following week. At that point I requested records for all three children so we could leave the practice. I was cheerfully informed there would be additional charges for that too. Poor communication is one thing. Refusing to acknowledge any mistake, blaming the parent, discussing a child's medical information publicly, and expecting the family to pay an additional exam fee to have another dentist correct the original work is something else entirely. We are done with this practice. I would strongly recommend parents, particularly parents of children with autism, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or other additional needs, look elsewhere.
