We went on a Friday night, so it was very busy. Got a nice large draft beer from the bar and enjoyed the wait time talking with our friends. The inside was very nice and well laid out. It is very open and didn't feel to congested, even with all the other patrons. While we were waiting, I was checking out the food that was being served to other tables in the restaurant. Looked really good, especially the wings. Yum! The menu is fairly simple, but at the same time still offers a good variety. I of course ordered some wings, while my wife and daughter opted for burgers and fries. The wings were awesome. I got the mild and they had a little spice to them that wimpy people would say was hot. Next time, I will definitely try the hot ones. The atmosphere of the place was just right for us. Not real loud and good music playing. Must have been on an 80's station, because that was all we heard. Not a problem though being a child of the 80's. Around 9 they switched over to live music. We only heard one song from the man playing guitar and singing, but sounded pretty good. Overall, we were very pleased with Top Dawg Tavern and definitely will be back. Not to please with the service here. We walked in and stood at the entrance for far too long. There were 3 young girls behind the podium. Not one of them spoke to us. Two other customers came in during the time we stood there and one even asked "Are you waiting or ..." because it really looked odd for my family and I to be standing there while 3 employees just flat out ignored us. Finally a young man in a red shirt was walking by and noticed us and asked "Have you been helped yet?" to which I replied no and he sat us. So we are sitting in our booth. This is during the NFC division championship game. The weather channel is on the TV I am facing (the game is on the other TVs in the place). When the waitress finally comes I ask her if they can put the game on the TV. She tells me that the TV is special and she doesn't know if she can get it changed. I am obviously a bit annoyed that sports bar can only show the weather channel during a division championship football game so she says she will ask her manager to get it changed. We order our food, and it takes an insane amount of time to get there. I will admit the food doesn't taste bad. It's FAR too pricey for what you get. But it wasn't bad. The service is my complaint. It literally took 5 minutes to get seated. Took well over 30 minutes to get some simple food (burger and hot dogs). And keep in mind there was ONE other table sat in the restaurant area. The bar had people at it but they were far from busy. And to top it all off, in the near hour we were there they never did change the channel to the football game. And I did ask multiple times. We ordered delivery from grub hub (stay home!) because we want to support local businesses in place of chains. I had the fish and chips and even though we live a distance away it arrived hot and crispy, the fries not so much, but fries rarely make the trip. Husband got 2 wing flavors and the coneys he loved both! FYI The hot wings are more medium than hot, but tasty. I can't wait to come in and try the food when fresh out of the kitchen. Not the greatest not the worst. If you do go here you HAVE to try the pub pretzel with beer cheese, in my opinion it's the best thing on the menu! Everytime I go here the food is always a hit or miss. Something will be missing, cooked wrong, or just wrong in general. Other times the food comes out great. read more

Excellent value for lunch. I had the tavern burger with bacon and cheese also some onion rings. Only one thing..the rings had a lot of breading and the actual onion was small. Other than that the meal was excellent. Bacon was exceptional, burger cooked to perfection. Ashley was my server as well as the host. She was so nice that she should be the trainer. Not one other person there said a word to me which was awkward since I was alone. The owner/manager ?? was talking to the couple right next to me all nicely nicey but walked right by me several times without speaking. I have been in sales for over 30 years and I just always speak to folks. So in conclusion if your alone you probably should sit at the bar. I am giving 5 stars simply because of Ashley !! read more

I went with my family to this restaurant against my will . Because everything else had hour wait times. We should've just waited because this place was terrible. My sister got wings they were undercooked and still bloody. I got the bacon burger and the bacon was so salty it felt like my mouth was in the dead sea. The fries tasted like they were from the bottom of the freezer and scraped and put in a microwave. When they came on my plate they looked sad. The pickle from my burger was depressing no juice in it whatsoever. My dad had the salmon which they said it was marinated and glazed over. It also looked like it was frozen and reheated and then frozen again. The only good thing was my beverage. I would never call this place the "Top Dawg" I would call this place "Under dawgs " Because it is so far from the top. The establishment was nice inside a little small. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you are looking for a place to waste ur money and leave disappointed then this is the place for you. If i could leave a one star i would. read more

Perfect for a night out with kids, we go on Thursday's when the appetizers are $6 each. The kids, we have 4, love picking their own appetizer and it's usually pretty filling for them. My personal favorites are the fried green tomatoes, beef tips and potatoes, and the southwestern eggroll! The service is always excellent and food is amazing! read more

After advertising their St Patty's Day specials for weeks, prompting us to make plans with friends to meet for dinner, we got there early (5:15p) to find out they were already sold out of all corned beef for a dinner plate or sandwich, and had warm Guinness. The mgr clearly did a very poor job planning for the event, and shouldn't have had it to begin with. The service was very slow, despite many of the tables being empty. We like the food at Top Dawg, but shouldn't have been surprised they weren't prepared for the night based on bad experiences we've had there in the past with food wait times and an undertrained staff. Buffalo wings hardly had any sauce and tasted like your basic hot sauce out of a grocery store jar. "Carribean Jerk" wings were a complete joke, fried wings with a dry pepper mix lightly sprinkled on after frying, zero flavor. Lemon pepper wings not much better. Went last night and have been several times and have never been disappointed. We started off the meal with the fried pickles with the horseradish sauce and it was delicious! My husband and I split 20 wings (which was more than enough for 2 people). We had the Hot lemonyaki and the extra hot wings...all I have to say is The Lemonyaki is the best wings I've ever had. My fiancé and I took a chance on this place and were glad we did! We went on a busy Sunday and were seated quickly with an attentive waitress. We ordered mozzarella sticks which were on par with what you'd think for deep fried cheese. I had the blackened chicken pasta and my fiancé had the double burger. Visited for lunch on a weekday. Our waitress was very attentive and explained everything on the menu and gave us suggestions on her favorites and what she thought made them even better (like adding Au jus to the ribeye sandwich - which was awesome btw). Where everything else was bland the beans were spicy but tasted like chili. It's pretty bad when you bring home leftovers and it taste better the day after because you doctor it up at home. While i would love to be able to give five stars my experience tonight just will not let me. When we arrived the young lady that greeted us was kind and friendly. When our waitress arrived she referred to us as "her f#!$ing table" to the young lady that showed us to our seats. She acted like we were a bother to her the whole time. While the food is great and it is a nice place to come to i don't feel as though it is family friendly due to the language choices of this girl. So if you are going to give them a try just make sure you avoid the short, fluffy girl with the dark hair and big frown on her face. read more

Very disappointed in my meal. I ordered the flounder shrimp dinner. Just plain frozen fish put in a deep fryer and cooked. Both my shrimp and supposedly flounder we're over done. I never saw such a thin piece of flounder before in my life. I don't mind fried fish but this was not fresh and there was no flavorto it. It was breaded and fried but not much flavor at all. A much lighter and crispier Coating might have made this more appetizing. The shrimp had a little flavor but the sauce was hardly noticeable. No lemons served on the dish The blue cheese coleslaw was a bit pungent. I love coleslaw and blue cheese but this did not work for me. As far as service goes the food took a long time to come and I did not have silverware , cocktail sauce or lemons unless I ask for them. They should have come with the plate. I was sitting at the bar which was not very busy at the time, and bartenders were working hard, but I should not have had to ask for silverware and such. this should have been taken care of without asking. They have a varied menu which could appeal to all tastes, a clean, friendly environment. The bartenders were very nice and drinks were good. Top Dawg offers a nice open air patio with Entertainment on certain days of the week. Just disappointed with my meal and will not be back for a long time if ever. read more

By far one of my restaurants or taverns in South Carolina. Although it's 30 miles from my home, I attempt to make it a few nights a week. The food and service cannot be beat. There are tons of large TV's and bar seating so perfect place for watching game. AWESOME bartenders who take care of their customers. Manager is great. I love their wings, sweet potato fries, chicken salad & burgers. I love this place so much that when the day came for me to finally meet my birth families a few months ago, I picked my favorite restaurant for this event. Guess this place is like family. I definitely feel that way when serveral bartenders call out Stewart when I come in. Thanks to the staff for making this place special to me. I wanted to get something to eat, grab a few beers and watch the free UFC fights on Fox Sports 1. Top Dawg Is down the street from the house and advertises a plethora of TVs so I headed there to spend the evening. When I arrived the hostess was friendly and directed me to the bar to sit. There were 11 TV visible from where I was seated at the bar. 6 of them showing the same game. The bar tender was friendly and when I ordered my first drink and my food I asked if one of the TVs could be turned to the fights. She said she would check. After the first beer, I asked again if she could check on the fights for me. She asked the manager and a few moments later the manager showed up and asked "Whats up?" I asked if one of the TV's could be turned to FS1 for the UFC prelims. He said that people were watching football. I pointed out that there were 6 TVs showing the same game and 2 of the three TVs mounted side by side at the end of the room were showing the same game. "Just one TV. Anywhere. It doesnt matter to me" I asked. "No, people want to watch football. I dont have any TV;s available." was the managers response. "OK" was my response and the manager left. The bartender was apologetic and said "Sorry". A few minutes later I my food arrived. Probably the cheapest and driest chicken tenders I've ever had. Shoestring fries and "Texas Toast" that looked like typical sliced sandwich white bread. I could have done so much better at home and completely regret giving Top Dawg a chance even after reading the other bad reviews on Yelp. I hate giving out a one star review but it was earned. Waitstaff was friendly and competent but management and food was the worst I've experiences in a while. Not a place I would return to. read more

For the prices being charged I would have preferred to actually be waited on. We went in about 1:30p during the middle of the week. We must have just missed the lunch rush as most of the tables were quite wet from being cleaned off. We finally found a dry table at the very back. I Ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came with a side. The sandwich was on Texas Toast which must have come frozen because the toast was cold and limp. My husbands burger had a some extremely under cooked (raw) areas, which we probably would have sent back, but no one ever came by to check and see if everything was ok or not. This place has a nice clean and open atmosphere. It's a good place for a casual meal with the family and could easily double for a fun hang out with some friends to watch a game. The menu is fun with wings, burgers, dogs, salads, and sandwiches. My wife is gluten free and had no problems finding options because they offer gluten free buns. She especially liked the build your own salad with blackened grouper. Raw oysters on Wednesdays and live music on the patio! Second trip to Top Dawg proved to be just as disappointing as the first. I visited a 2nd time hoping the first was a fluke but unfortunately I was wrong. Service was ok. Water glass was refilled regularly and that's about the extent of the good. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich per recommendation from the waitress because she said "it's excellent". It wasn't. When she brought it out, it was quickly evident I had not received what I ordered. The waitress brought me what they called a buffalo chicken sandwich, but was no more than cookie cutter, frozen, pressed chicken (with other chicken byproducts), with a little buffalo sauce on top. One bite and I had enough. It was horrible. I just ate $10 worth of fries and blue cheese. Even the fries were less than average. Shoestring, frozen fries that came out room temp. After leaving the bill and noticing my sandwich had one bite taken out of it, the waitress never asked how it was, did I get enough, nothing! Just took my payment and left. How can you feel (as a manager or owner) that charging $8-10 for a fake, pressed meat sandwich is fair or good business practices? Had I been asked how my meal was, I would have gladly given my thoughts, in hopes that they would try and make it right. I won't return, I won't give my hard earned money to this establishment, and if asked my thoughts, would definitely not recommend and in fact would strongly encourage a separate choice for dinner. I had dinner here recently and ordered onion rings. To my horror, when I bit into the onion ring a long brown hair came out of the fried batter. I have short hair so I know it was not off me. They didn't make me pay for the onion rings, but it definitely turned my stomach and I couldn't eat the rest of my meal. The music was also too loud for indoors. read more
