Very frustrating.... If you're closed, your website…read morecertainly doesn't say so--it clearly states you're open until 4:00 PM. Nothing when calling saying your closed just to leave a message . We have a service agreement with your company, and I've left five messages since last night with absolutely no response. Our outdoor HVAC unit has been having issues. A technician came out five days ago and said the unit was rubbing against a pipe. He simply moved the unit by hand and told us everything was fine. Last night, the unit started making a loud buzzing noise that lasts about a second every five minutes. The only reason I even noticed it was because I was outside with the dogs. I have no idea how long it had been doing it because I never received an alert through my Honeywell app. Assuming 3-5 hrs because i did hear it in afternoon. The house was still cooling, but after researching the issue, it was obvious something wasn't right. I shut off the circuit breaker for 10 minutes and turned it back on, but the buzzing continued. I have now left the breaker off because I don't want to risk burning out the motor or causing even more damage. This unit is only a little over four years old. Compressors can fail, but it's certainly not something you expect this early--especially after being told just a few days ago that everything was fine. The lack of communication is just as frustrating as the mechanical issue. Paying $500 a year for a service agreement should include timely callbacks, especially when a customer may be facing equipment damage. If I don't receive a callback immediately, I'll be requesting a full refund of my $500 service agreement which we just renewed 2 weeks ago . I'm prepared to take my business to a company that actually stands behind its service. What am i paying for ?

Poor quality of work and poor customer service. Since Chesapeake had installed the pump, I contacted them for service. After evaluating their service man informed me the pump was installed incorrectly causing it to become "air locked" which "fried" the pump. I had the pump replaced on the day of the service call since I already had quite a bit of water in the crawl space and then followed up with their new home group regarding reimbursement. Even though the initial installation was their error and the error identified by their service man, they did not take accountability for the poor-quality work and denied my reimbursement request. I would not use them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

Be aware of this if you are really in a jam. The response time for a tech to come for the initial…read morecall is really good. My beef is that when parts are needed, these guys go in extreme slow motion. On two occasions, days or weeks went by waiting for parts, then a return visit to install them and finally fix the original problem. There does not seem to be ANY urgency by McGee to fix the problem. Story 1: Rannai hot water heater needed a control transformer. Six weeks later, still no hot water. Calls to them stated "still waiting for part". NEVER a call FROM them. I finally bought a generic transformer from Amazon and fixed it myself. Why couldn't they do that? Story 2: Home heat not working. Two techs always come. they determined the control board was bad. We wouldn't have heat for several days while they waited for the control board to be ordered and return to install it. The techs said the office would call us with an update on the estimated part arrival date. Hours later, I had called a local supply house (RE Michal), bought and picked up the control board and fixed it myself. Again, why couldn't they do that, especially with two techs on the job? They would be better off emphasizing "get the customer going asap" rather than buying only OEM parts, only from the manufacturer. This could result in getting the customer going the same day instead of in a week or two. Be aware of this if you use them for emergency repairs.

This place deserves 5 stars for time it takes to set up an appointment, ability to track distance…read morefor tech to arrive, and professionalism of technician. But all of that is completely erased by dishonesty and poor (borderline criminal) business practices. Technician told me part was not covered under warranty. I agreed to pay the 705.00 to cover part and labor. Diag fee was 105, waived with repair. Part cost 100. 605 for the labor. Let me tell you, this is a ripoff. OEM Trane part cost 31.51 on Amazon. The tech spent 25 minutes replacing the part. They make 1200 dollars an hour?? They charge by the job. Further research indicates the average cost of this job in my area is 150-400. Wow. Furthermore, the part is covered by Trane. As indicated and VERIFIED by Trane. When I told the technician about it being covered he said in his experience it wasn't and it had happened over the weekend with another 2 year old Trane, and I would have to contact a manager about it. I was already on the phone with the company waiting for management to insist they file a claim. I do not care it might be rejected. That is your job. 24 hours later I still had not heard back from management who was supposed to call me back. I called again because I was lied to and severely overpaid. Management still not available. I have given 24 hours until I contact the BBB. The scheduler hung up on me. You cannot make it standard practice to say a part is not covered. And why would you not call a customer back RIGHT AWAY when they claim someone at their business LIED to them? And now I am concerned that they didn't put in an OEM part into my Trane with 8 years left on my 10 year warranty. Buyer be warned. Pick another "locally owned and operated" business. I sure wish I had. This is my second one in Delaware. Are there no honest ones here??

They replaced the fan motor on the outdoor unit. Again in January, 2025. They said it was freon leak but never showed us proof. Said they replaced a coil and put in 12 lbs of freon, charging us $1800 after the tech had to come back a second time because he wasn't dressed appropriately for the cold weather. System broke again in early Feb, 2025. They came out said it was the motor that they replaced in August, 2024, and then said they would no longer honor their service warranty because we hadn't had the units serviced, except they had been out to service them every year because they kept breaking down. They wanted to charge around $780 for labor. When they called back they price had risen to almost $900 for the same job. Called another company. Find out that they uinstalled an old used inappropriate motor in August and now wanted to charge us to fix it correctly. Also found out that our system only hold 9.8 lbs of freon so they over charged for us for at least 2 lbs of freon. DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY INTO YOUR HOME!!!

The technician was friendly and knowledgeable but did not have the thermostat controller board that was needed. He did have a transformer and replaced that and bypassed the controller board to get the heat restored while we waited on the part. The service charge was $89, the transformer was $277 and the controller board was $994. Seemed a little expensive to me and after a little research the controller board is $100 and if ordered with the transformer $130. I did not have them return to install the controller board and instead found another company.
