They failed to tell me they had actually scheduled my car's appointment even though they said they would coordinate that part with me, which I didn't know until I missed the appointment. The loaner car had been dropped off that morning after being in a "hit and run". Jim's Auto Body employee informs me its completely drivable, which is was. Then I get in the car and it reeks of cigarette smoke and the "service fuel filter" light is on. Now lets fast forward to the day I'm supposed to pick it up. Not only did they not call me, I called them to find out that it will not be ready for another 2 days. Again, the day it's supposed to be ready, I'm the one calling them only to find out it needs another 2 days before it's ready. Now the day comes for the third time, is my car ready? Oh would you know, it'll be ready just before 5pm on closing at Friday. Which inevitably means I cannot pickup my car until the following Monday. Here we go! Lets pickup the car, finally! It's done when I get there! It obviously smells very chemically due to having fresh paint, ok I get that. They left their dust and whatever mess it may be for my cleaning detail, thanks. The best part? I went to fill up the gas tank and had to the pry the cover open because it was taped shut still from being painted. Does it look better then it did when I dropped it off? Yes. Annnd don't forget the fun 3% fee when you pay with credit card, which adds up rather quickly when you have a lot of work done! Thanks guys. Just work on your COMMUNICATIONS!!!!!!

I was sent on my way and a few days later drove to far Northern Wisconsin. In the middle of nowhere my check engine oil light comes on and seconds later the front end is smoking. I stopped and called for the inevitable tow truck. It was brought to their Shop and the mechanic informs me Half Price Auto used a standard hose where a high heat pressure line should have been used. This mechanic indicated it was a "no brainer" and any mechanic would have known not to use the hose Half Price Auto used. To worsen my situation, the engine was trash after the oil quickly drained out at highway speeds. I went back to Half Price Auto and they offered to do nothing to compensate me for killing my engine. They suggested I have the car towed 4 hours to their shop where they would look at it and decide if they used the wrong hose. They said they would consider splitting the cost of putting in a (used) engine. No, how about you contact the other mechanic or any other mechanic to verify you used the wrong part. How about you pay to tow the car back. How about you pay to replace the engine destroyed by your error. How about apologizing for your mechanics mistake? I guess that's what I get for trying to find Half Price Auto repair.

Beware Of "Up-Selling"…read more We decided to try out Cedarburg Auto Safety Center for a $60 oil change. We were then asked to buy a tire rotation that was supposedly on sale for $20. Five minutes later, as the oil change was underway, we were asked to buy a new cabin filter for $94.53 plus fees and taxes. We said, "No." Soon after, they tried to sell an engine air filter for $57.52 plus taxes and fees. Again, we said "No." Five minutes later, the person at the desk went out to the repair bay and retrieved two rectangular filters: a cabin filter and an engine air filter. The filters they showed us weren't that soiled. In fact, any debris they contained looked like it could've been tapped out over a waste basket, or possibly blown away with compressed air. She continued to push: "If this is what your other place did, you need to talk with them." Again, we turned down the Cedarburg Auto Safety Center offer. In dealing with service operations, we learned long ago not to engage in up-sell strategies. Simple rule: "Purchase what you came to purchase -- nothing more." So, will we go back? Probably not.
