I text week before the trip and he tells me he's not going to do it. I have a friend that flew out that cost 600 dollars. He was amped up from the start and difficult to work with. I don't care about the money I donated to the nonprofit bc that was the main reason I did it but now my friend is out 600 dollars.

They mounted a bent stripping guide on a fly rod to push it out the door after I was finally told 'guides are on order'. When I asked to return defective rods they accused me of trying to "scam" them by returning defective/damaged rods that I had purchased at 35%-65% so I could use 'Golden Tickets' that I had paid $200ea for (essentially more than the 65% off original price). Lots of "projection" from the EDGE CEO after years of shady dealing and outright lying. Pls read their website EULA and they tell you why no credits are issued for any reason for 60 days. (Credit Card charge backs). Still waiting on 2 fly rod tubes and socks that the CEO emailed "should be landing any day". That was June 2025. Fall of 2025 an employee finally returned a call and said 'we haven' t seen a fly rod tube here since 2022'.

Here, the river splits around a small island that is rumored to be a good spot for salmon fishing in the springtime. The water runs slower on the park side than in many places along the Lewis river, making it a nice place for swimming if you can snag a piece of the pebbly beach. The great news is that the park is rarely busy and we often find an area we can swim and play for the day. Beyond picnic tables, grills, and grassy areas, there is also a public toilet, and garbage cans throughout. Dogs are permitted on leash, but there is no doggy clean up station - you'll need to bring your own bags. If you're a mosquito magnet like me, you'll want to bring your bug spray. They're everywhere and they are thirsty! Logs have been intentionally placed along the riverbank to create areas for fish. We've seen minnows, snails, and caddisfly larva in the shallows. Fish jumping and even river otter can be seen in the deeper channel in the middle of the river. The park is well maintained and off the beaten path. There are two roads you can turn off of Cedar Creek to get to Haapa . They are Etna rd and Roser rd. Turning right onto Etna is an extremely sharp turn. A minivan can't do it without entering oncoming traffic after the turn. Conversely, taking a left onto Roser is extremely sharp. If you're hauling a boat, plan to enter from one direction and leave from the other for smoother traveling.

My boyfriend and I had a once in a lifetime experience fishing with Matt. Unfortunately salmon…read moreseason was cut short, so we fished for only sturgeon. However, we had the opportunity to catch and keep sturgeon only if it was between 44-50 inches; which occurs twice in a year. From beginning to start, Matt was super helpful with providing gear for me as it was my first time fishing. His boat was top of the line compared to the rest on the river that day. It had a hot water sink and very comfy chairs to sit in. He also had beers, waters on dec and had anti-nausea meds on board which was great for me since I was feeling sick. After 5 minutes, my boyfriend caught his first sturgeon that was 47 inches. And I caught one four hours later that was 45 inches. He allowed us to reel it in (which was a struggle for me, but worth it) and he took great photos after. We were the only 2 people that day to catch and keep our sturgeon. We couldn't have had a better experience and we got so lucky that day thanks to Matt! He ended up filet-ing our sturgeons and took 15 pounds of it home. It was the highlight of our trip to Portland. And we plan to come back in the spring once salmon season starts. If you're thinking about booking a trip with him, DO IT. You won't regret it!
