I ordered the reel when it was in stock, and now all the sudden it went on backorder... wonder where the reel went? Bet Aleks Maslov brought it to a show and sold it. I placed Order #57769 with Edge Rods, expecting it to ship within the estimated 3-5 weeks provided at checkout. However, the company failed to deliver within this timeframe and did not proactively notify me of delays as required by Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations. When I contacted them for an update, they acknowledged the delay but did not offer the legally required option to cancel and receive a refund. I canceled my order on December 18, 2024, yet despite multiple follow-ups, the company has refused to issue my refund. They repeatedly direct me to voicemail, ignore my calls, and refuse to transfer me to anyone with authority to resolve the issue. Their actions violate federal consumer protection laws, including the FTC's Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (16 CFR § 435.2), which requires that sellers: - Ship orders within the promised timeframe or, if no specific date is given, within 30 days. - Proactively notify customers of delays and provide a revised shipping date. - Offer the option to cancel and receive a full refund if they cannot meet the stated delivery timeframe. - Issue refunds within seven business days when an order is canceled due to delays. Due to their blatant disregard for consumer rights, I have filed formal complaints with the FTC and state Attorneys General, including the North Carolina Department of Justice. This comes from Tom, their customer service rep: "It does not mean in stock they still have to be built I hope that this helps." "It's a way we keep track of orders" Say what? Yet when ones buys, they don't know this. The only way one finds out is when the rod is not shipped and you ask what is going on. False advertising straight and simple. Unbelievable right? When will it be built? They can't say. I bought $2,550 worth of rods (3 rods) for Christmas presents on 17 November 2025. Wrote in "Christmas present". 3 weeks go by, website says "processing", I call. "We have not started on those yet" When will they be done? "Can't say". I called today December 15. "We can't say when they will be done". Canceled the order and bought different brand rods to be delivered in 2 days. I'm embarrassed. I already had told my 2 grown sons that I had bought them signature rods. In a way, I feel lucky. If the company is so irresponsible, I am very suspicious of their quality control. While visiting the shop you can handle so many different rods and it has been easy for me to narrow down the rods that best fit my fishing needs. These are indeed the very best rods I have ever fished and it is both fun and helpful to stop in the pro shop. Not only can you check out the rods, but they have a very good selection of fishing supplies. From curing your own prawns to great selections for great spinners, plug line, weights, and many other helpful items. For the ones that struggle with having to wait for your personal rod to be made, remember they are world class, top of the line rods. Absolutely love edge rods and one of the best upcoming rod and blank manufacturers out there. Quality rods take time and it's all worth the wait. I've built many rods on their blanks and have only had great feedback from my customers. They have a rod for practically every species and it takes awhile to find just the right rod from their selection. Also they have blanks at almost anyone's price point and best of all I have only had one rod break and that was because I made a direct hit to the rod with a heavily waited fly (my fault). These rods are phenomenal, super sensitive i have 6 with 3 on order . The price for this quality is absolutely incredible . They can tons of sales o ce you buy your first you get really great existing customer only sales . The waiter time is extensive do not order if you want the rod to arrive quickly , they are mostly made to order and hand made in the USA . Can take several months to arrive , but well worth the wait . I have several delta rods great rods for their entry level series with sale can get them little over $100 a d quality of a $300 rod . The warranty is unmatched , i broke one on a bass wrapped around a dock post. Filed a warranty , next day ask for pictures , was approved immediately and 6 weeks later had a new rod at door. Absolutely $0 replacement cost. They have incredibly fast customer service always quick to respond. Again I stress these rods are phenomenal, at an i credible price being sold directly from company. Do not buy if wanting g a quick rod delivery , these are G Loomis rods for 1/3 the price or better. read more

Ordered a Black Widow rod back in November of 2023 when they were having their Black Friday sale. Was excited and hoped I would receive the rod around Christmas time. Rod was never received and didn't have any notice from the company regarding an ETA. Called the contact number and left a voicemail around that time. Near the end of January received an email saying that my order was in "rod build" and that it would take another 3-4 weeks before it was shipped out. Tried replying to the email a few times with no response. Fast forward another 1.5 months with no update on the rod, I called and opted to cancel my order on March 4 2024. It is now April 16 and I have yet to receive my money back. I would stay away if you're looking for any timely updates, fast service, or communication. Guy on the phone was a condescending jerk when I told him that all I was asking for was what their website said they'd provide. The blank eventually arrived after many weeks of waiting. Against my better judgement I ordered an Edge rod, hoping the experience would be better. Turns out it's not; when I called on week six inquiring about the "3-5 week turnaround time" I got the same condescending guy who told me "3-5 weeks is just something on the website; we don't have any idea when orders will actually ship." If this rod ever arrives it had better be the best rod I've ever used because the experience is garbage. I should have read the reports and trusted my guts after my first horrible experience. First, the rods are great. Phenomenal technology. However, only buy the rod you want when it's in stock. DO NOT BUY backorder rods. If you do, not matter what the lead time they tell you, it'll be around 6 months or longer. I have 2 orders since July. Sent them an email today saying to cancel. Surprisingly, they actually responded the same day. Only to say that one is in the "wrapping" stage and should ship out next week. Now, it's been in this "wrapping" stage for over a month. Also, whenever they say, "it'll ship next week," don't bet on it. I have placed many orders with them. Most are stock items though. But I've had several back ordered one and "next week" turned into 3 weeks. That is after waiting for several months. Basically, don't trust what their website says. Don't expect anyone to answer the phone or respond to emails. And, if/when they do, don't believe the time frame they give you. Again, they make a GREAT product. They just can't run a business properly. I know they're growing. But it's not like huge chains of stores buy these. Only direct to consumer/guides. BTW-the 2nd order I mentioned from July...miraculously the response I got today was that it's shipped today. Of course, I've been in this scenario too. More than 5 weeks passed and no rod, so I emailed them and they told me it would be a further 9 weeks before my rod was ready to ship. So, I canceled the order and requested a refund, however no refund has been made, and I cannot get anyone to respond to my queries, they just completely ignore you. I have since found a discussion forum about Edge on ifish.net and note that other people have had similar experiences to mine. I purchased two Edge LMX StR 904-2 in Aug of 2022. Fished them for the first time in January 2023. On that trip, one of the rods broke during routine use. I sent the rod back for repairs and received a message on Jan 30 that the repair would take between four to six weeks. I contacted the warranty department on March 15, after 6 weeks for a status update. The response was that the rod was in "rod build". Checking in again on March 2, I was informed that the rod was in "finishing". On March 17, and after several unanswered emails and calls, I was informed it was still in finishing. I received the same update on April 7, over nine weeks since Edge received my rod. Due to Edge Rods' poor customer service, I would not recommend this product. read more

One day I actually had someone answer the phone. I think it was by mistake but he told me he would cancel the order but couldn't help me with the refund to my credit card. I have since been on a mission to reach someone, anyone at Edge Rods. Zero response. I have lost count on the number of email I've sent and the number of times I have called and left voice mails. Zero response. I like their rods but this is no way to run a business. I get numerous email ads for special pricing on their rods but who in their right mind would order from them when this is how they treat customers. Found Edge rods and decided to give them a shot - Gary Loomis' new company. Weary on making a decision, customer service agent - Brett Wood, was THE NICEST person i've ever dealt with when making a purchase. On par with apple's customer service, if not better! Was patient and answered every single question I had, no matter how dumb he may have though it was, sure didn't show it. After the purchase, was nice enough to follow-up (above and beyond in my opinion), and share a nice picture of the same rod model and some fish he caught on his personal.
