So I've been coming to this place for YEARS now and you will not find a better barbershop GUARANTEED! First off... $19 and it will be one of the best cuts you've had in a while. They specialize in Fades, Buzz Cuts, Line Ups and everything and anything that involves clippers! What I like most about this place is they spend time on each and every person making sure they leave looking as sharp as can be! They also do a pretty kick ass job on beards too if you're looking to get that cut or shaped! I've stick to my usuals over the years but on occasion, I've had to get my hair done by someone new and I've never been disappointed! Don't let the price pursuade you to go somewhere else that charges double if not more thinking it'll be a better cut because it won't! This place and everyone working there knows what they're doing in the best of ways and you'll never walk away not liking your new doo! Plenty of street parking but they also have a small lot adjacent to it. I also recommend calling in beforehand and setting up an appointment cause like I said, they spend time on making sure your cut is on point unlike other places where they try to get you in and out and quick as possible!

Marcos is the man! My friend (whose hair always looks perfect) recommended him. Perfect recco! He's fast, professional, and knows his shit. I walk out with a flawless fade every time. Best part of all: it's cheap! I'm in heaven.

Result of "Young Dude" not understanding what a Low Fade haircut is

Looks like I should have asked for Marcos or Mario... I've been holding off on a haircut for the last 2 months as I've been stuck in the hospital in Westwood and simply don't believe in $35 haircuts. I remembered the good ol' days of $5 haircuts with $2 tips in the ghetto. I finally had the opportunity to make my way to this part of town where there is a fine selection of Latin style barber shops that don't charge the hoity toity prices. Naturally, I chose Top Line thanks to the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, the barber I got was young and probably new. You would say my mistake here is that I didn't make an appointment with the 2 Top Barbers I mentioned above, but this review is not listed under "Marcos or Mario". It's listed under "Top Line" so I'll 2-star accordingly because this younger dude I had needs some better fades under his belt (that didn't sound right). I think it all started with major miscommunication between me and him. I'll go into detail below. Since I'm the 2-star oddball review, you'll have to bare with me as I feel to really tell the story right, it's gonna sound like a middle-school novel. Here we go: This young barber, who shall be deemed "Young Dude", sat me in his chair and proceeded to ask me in plain English "How do you want it cut?" I reply to him, "Low fade." He then affirms my request by saying "Low Fade?" "Yup," Was my excited reply for my long awaited reasonably priced fade! About 5 minutes later, in the middle of the cutting, he asked me if I wanted the back to be rounded, squared or tapered. I have a monologue moment and think to myself, "Odd. Have I been asked that question before on a Low Fade? He must mean the shave." I then answer Young Dude by telling him, "Rounded". Again, thinking he was talking about the Grand Finale straight blade. After a few more minutes, he turns me to see the mirror and I'm in immediate disapproval. I ask him to fix the skateboard ramp going off the left side of my head and he commits to a half-a$$'d attempt at fixing it. The result was what you see in the picture with the mark "NOT A FADE". At this point, I'm annoyed that he jacked up my hair but even more annoyed that he gave me a crappy attempt at fixing it. I then ask him, "Can you fix the fade on the sides? I thought it was supposed to be a zero." He then tells me then I should've asked for a taper. At this point I'm lost I kindly tell him it's not gonna get fixed (thereby indicating I was a dissatisfied customer) and he asks me, "You're good?".... fo' realz! At this point, I just wanna get outta here. We then walk to the register and, trying to be positive, I think, "At least this will be a cheap cut." ... Lowe and behold, 17 bucks!!?!?! Don't you realize you're in The Hood? In closing, I'll have to end this with a disclaimer by stating that the reason for my severe dissatisfaction with Top Line is a result of comparing them directly to another barber shop just a few blocks away from them. I've since had 3 different barbers from this other shop down the street and after I'm convinced this other shop down the street is the new Top's. I'll review them separately but they're slowly gaining 5-star Yelp status as I type. Sorry, Top Line. You didn't do it for me but at least you got a good following on Yelp. I imagine they all had Marcos or Mario and I unfortunately had your worse barber that day.

I have a fairly simple understanding of hairstyles and proper hair maintenance. The barber Javin asked me questions about my usual hairstyle and went through suggestions regarding trimming technique. Ultimately, I went with low fade with and a touch up on the top. He mentioned my two hair whorls and overall head shape provided some considerations on what he thought would look natural, which I appreciated. In the end, the fade was perfect. Afterwards I went in for quick shampoo and conditioner which targeted my dandruff. While the location is somewhat out of the way for me, I can definitely rely on their dedication and handiwork.

Then I showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted (which was a burst fade Mohawk) and he proceeded to say "is that really you". This was at the beginning of the hair cut. Mid way he asked a second time if I had ever had this hair cut before which I answered yes. Also at the beginning he had mentioned how much are we taking off the top. I mentioned just a little bit and we can work our way down. When it came to cutting the top I feel he had gone too low. At that point I just wanted to get out of the chair. I waited 2 days to post this just to see if my hair needed to settle in since I went from a wild lions mane to what ever this short hair cut I have now. But no matter how much I attempt to style my hair it just looks dumb. My feedback to Hin is if you aren't confident in cutting someone's hair then please just say so. Or if your specialty is clean cuts then tell your client so they can make the decision of sitting in the chair. I may come back to try with someone else to cut my hair since I feel the people here have some skill.

Valerie was my manicurist and she took her time giving me the full works on my very easy hands and toes because they were pretty short already but she was meticulous with everything. She did a great job.
