After an atrocious experience with another nail salon, I was desperate to fix my awful, crooked nails and get something a little more glam. I called and made an appointment with Dianna because I saw the super cute nails with the real flowers! I went in and sat down and as soon as I saw her put the nails on straight, I was sold. She rocked a ring and thumb with real flowers, and then color 31 with chrome powder over it. It looks freaking fantastic. They have a 2 week guarantee on their nails, and she told me the flowers will last up to 2 months, and I got the SNS powder on the non-flower nails. I'm super stoked and I'm excited to go back again. For the extensions, the acrylic on four fingers, and the SNS on 6, with gel color and chrome powder, it was $80 (plus an 8% charge. YIKES - so bring cash). So worth it y'all. The attention to detail at this place is unparalleled. I went into to get my first ever set of acrylics and a pedicure and I was seated immediately. The entire process talk about two hours as maximum effort was put into both my manicure and pedicure. My nails lasted about 2 weeks of international travel lugging giant suitcases and a few games of volleyball. Not. A. Single. Nail. Came. Off. Or. Chipped. The women who work at Top Nails really know what they're doing and they truly honor scheduled appointments. I had gone to Pinky's previously and after waiting an entire hour after my appointment, I received a pedicure that lasted about 3 days before chipping. Love Diana, love the service and I'm very picky so I like that they will spend time in making sure you get what you want. Love that they take appointments and LOVE that they have a 1 week guarantee for chipping and such, which I have definitely went back and was fixed with no attitude like other salons. Again, im super picky and when I find somewhere I like I stay, left my last salon after 3 years because they started getting careless and lazy. So far so good here! I went here for a pedicure with a friend of mine. The place was A LOT smaller than I thought it was going to be, I figured they'd be huge with such high ratings. I'm used to living in urban areas so the surroundings didn't bother me but I know some Yelpers would look at it with unease. I was seated immediately with my friend when I came in. At first, the water was too hot for me but the store was so busy I didn't say anything. Dianna noticed me wincing and I asked her to just turn it down a tad but she turned it cold. I figured lukewarm water was better than boiling so I didn't mind too much. It also almost overflowed until I mentioned it to them. Just make sure you give your instructions short and clearly for best communication. They started on my friend first and I was left soaking for 10-15 minutes. Since I was getting polish, I was worried my friend would have to wait around for me but Linh was very efficient when she got to me. She was friendly with conversation and made sure I was comfortable in my massage chair. The polish job was quick and I had a couple blisters from walking around in heels. She didn't irritate them but smoothed them out. I expected my harder calluses to be a lot smoother but I think she didn't want to mess around too much since I requested that that she not use "the grater." The only thing that annoyed me was that I asked for a regular pedicure for my friend and I. This was before they started all the exfoliating/massage which I know is common in spa pedicures. Dianna jumped in and said that they do "spa pedicures" but for the price of regular. I didn't see any signage until I left. She still charged us $35 each was $5 more than the listed regular price. Everyone was so nice I let it go but make sure you get the price upfront before any services start if it's important to you. Look at the signage when you walk in. It wasn't very noticeable. Bring cash + small bills to tip because there is an 8% charge if you're using credit card. It is known in the business that cash tips are easier for the employees and greatly appreciated. read more

I love this spot. The owner is sweet as hell and loves her customers. These ladies kill it and really pay attention to detail. I've only been 3 times and I'm addicted. My nails look rad and they have a two week policy for their gel nails (if they peel of crack they will fix for free) and they stick to it. I suggest the chrome gel. Hello, Yelpitos, I'm usually into food reviews, so bear with me for the Nail Salon. Let me give you a bit of a disclaimer: I'm picky when it comes to my hands and feet, so if I'm reviewing this place, 1) I really liked it and 2) they did a good job. So, for my friend's birthday, and because my toes were JACKED, I treated to a quick pedicure. I looked on my trusty yelp app to find somewhere closer than where I usually go. I had seen Top Nails in the neighborhood for years, and this was the first time I walked in. The staff and nail techs were very friendly. It was late afternoon and it wasn't busy so we were seated right away. The pedicure itself was lovely, as they used hot towels and had good working massage chairs (working massage chairs are a MUST for me). They had a variety of colors to choose from, and Kathy (my tech) made my feet feel and look fabulous. I was also very pleased to find out that they have the new Gel Powder. I didn't get it this time, but I know where to go for next time. The price was reasonable, and the service was pleasant. The only thing about this place is that it is intimately small. So if you don't like small spaces, this might not be the place for you. However, thanks to Kathy, I enjoyed the experience, and hope to return to try the gel powder stuff. read more

Would not recommend going here. First of all I killed a cockroach while getting my pedicure. The wine that was served was pure vinegar. She only put one coat of polish on my toes and spread it thinner with the topcoat. She used the wrong color on my nails that She upcharged $10 for. The shape is wrong. I asked for natural shape and she gave me almond. Continuously kept telling me to relax my hands (15+times) and not to look while she was working. Very argumentative. I finally had to tell her I couldn't relax or enjoy myself because of her. $90 for pedicure and full set that I hate. Don't go here! read more

I've been having my nails done professionally for 22 years and this shop, by far has been the best. I relocated to Philadelphia two years ago and found Dianna's shop not long afterwards. My nails were damaged from years of acrylic overlay. Dianna introduced me to SNS Dip Powder. It made all the difference in the world! My nails are strong, long and healthy now. There are an array of colors available and Dianna does the most creative designs! The other ladies at the shop - Linh, Amy and Kathy are also very talented. The salon is clean, the utensils are properly sanitized and stored and the customer service is top notch. This is a full service salon with waxing and eyelash application. So I went to this place for the first time the other day and I wasn't in a rush or anything. I walked in and both the women were very nice and we were early for our appointments and they took us early which was great! They offered us wine and they were very friendly and talkative. For that I would give them 5 stars. However, my nails themselves are not that great. I was cut 3 times by the nail buffing drill and she was a bit rough with the nail file. The nails themselves from far away look good but close up not so much. Really unfortunate but as the days go on they continue to lift up and my hair is getting caught in them which usually only happens when I need a new set. read more

What an interesting experience. My coworker and I dipped out of work on my birthday for a nail salon treat. I had never been here, but the yelp reviews were good and it was close by. (For the record, if you're not terribly familiar with this neighborhood, this salon is *not* at 5th and Girard, as the address would have you believe. This is on *east* Girard, as oppose to *west* Girard. In any event, it's a cute neighborhood). This is a very small salon, with the drying stations directly behind the nail stations, lined very closer together. If you dislike having people in your bubble, you might be a tad uncomfortable. It's a cute shop, exposed brick and clean. The ambiance is... interesting. There was a very loud loop of music I am almost entirely sure I've heard at a cheap buffet accompanied by a strange buzzing. I got used to the buzzing, but every so often it registered again and threatened to make my ears bleed. I got a full set. The work was adequate. I showed the nail tech a photo of the shape I wanted and she did her best to comply. They use less acrylic than I would like, with no cuticle push back, making it look like you're in need of a refill only days after having them done. I've been getting acrylics all my life and I'm neurotic about my refills. My nails can be finicky (I'm double jointed and my nail bed seems to slant upward) so I tend to need them sooner than most, but not *that* soon. I suspect this might be a part of this salon's nickel and dime policy. Just like their 5 dollar charge for "long" nails. Okay. Still, not warranting a 2 star review. I'll get to that. The woman who did my nails was polite and careful. She was quiet, but judging by some translating between she and the owner, her English may have been limited. HOWEVER.... the owner of this shop (I believe, she seemed to be in charge) was one of the most aggressive and tactless that I've ever encountered... We were the only people in the shop. The owner heavily pushed gel nails and other upcharges on us. Though we politely refused, she still pushed. She went on and on about how professional they are, pointed at the certificates on the wall, bragged about the shop's yelp review and how much their customers love them. I smiled and nodded, attempted to go back to enjoying a trip to the nail salon on my Birthday, but she pushed. Insinuated that my nails would come off because of my weird nail bed, and was somewhat aggressive in her insistence that if they do, it's not their fault, because they are professional. At one point, it almost seemed she was trying to get me to make a 2 week followup appointment, but I think my glare threw her off. Look, I get the hustle, and I dig a strong woman making it happen for her business, but listen, perhaps develop some tact. Ask the customer's name, make some chit chat, ask how they're doing before you launch into an on and off 50 minute speech about how amazing your salon is. Because if your customer is turned off by your ultra intense approach, no matter how good of a job you do, they will not be back. Just as I will not. What a shame. read more

The yelp reviews must be made up, if you look at the reviews you can see that the majority of the reviewers have only written one review which is suspect to begin with. I've been getting my nails done every 2 weeks for over 10 years, I know nail salons and what good looks like. With out getting into all the nitty gritty details, the owner basically told me that I should get this SNS powder (fine, ill try anything) but then gave me a hard time when I asked her to do my cuticles...She wanted to charge me an additional $15 to do that....Isn't that what a manicure is in the first place?? They also charge a ridiculous 8% to credit card charges which doesn't seem like much but it adds up.... The owner also continuously felt the need to remind me about how "professional" they were in this shop and how great they were and "just to read the Yelp reviews". Red Flags all over those statements. I wouldn't waste any money here ever again. The SNS powder was cool and that's about the only thing that I liked here, but luckily I can get that at another salon that trims your cuticles as a part of their manicures. read more

I was on my way to a pole dancing class when I realized my feet looked ATROCIOUS, so I decided to take a later pole class and go get these feets (not a grammatical error) done. I hopped in my car and entered "nail salons" in to my waze app (a gps app, for you that don't know). The first nail salon to pop up was Sarana Nails... uuuum, no (read my review on Sarana). Next on the list was Top Nails, and it seemed to have a lot of reviews on Waze... I didn't have time to read them though... soooo I was on my way to the Top! or maybe not -_- Top Nails is a tiny nail salon, they have 4 nail stations and 3 deteriorating pedi stations, but the women are very nice I must say . They immediately told me to pick my color and got the water running for me to soak my feet... although the water was more like trinkling until I made them aware that there was no water in the basin, then we got ready . I put my feet in the water and felt freedom then I looked in the water and felt disgusted , there were little particles all UP in my water! Eeew. I tried to snap pics of the little molecules but I guess my IPhone 5 Cam is not up to par for that type of photography because it didn't show up in the pics, ugh . Now, I didn't know how to mention this to Diana (my nail technician) lightly, so I just proceeded with the pedicure.. My feet were already engulfed in the sh*t anyway (excuse my language). Looking around I noticed the place needed some work. My pedi chair in the corner was kind of tilting and my drying station was situated amongst stools like it was a DIY project (see pics). You should be able to sit back and relax in a nail salon... I was alert and afraid. I was also in a rush to run an errand before my pole class, so really the scenery and environment didn't matter too much for me at the time. So let's talk about the end results. I mean, who really cares about what the place looks like if they do great nails right... but unfortunately the end result was unfortunate... The nail salon I went to prior (Sarana) had given me some type of gel pedi and I didn't realize it so I tried peeling it off, totally screwing up my big toes. My nail technician was Diana and although she was very very personable and social (I'm kind of a quiet person, but still she had me talking), she didn't do a great job on filing the remaining gel off one of my big ties. Detail is important in the art of nails, but she didn't seem very detailed-oriented. Maybe too much talking not enough nailing. She was so focused on being a sales woman and making me a repeat customer that she must of forgot what her true job was, idk . I even mentioned the issue to her, and she refiled my toe, but she still failed to remove all of the gel once again... I just gave up I shouldn't have had to go through that. I won't be going back. The pedi ended up costing me $30 + 8% of the bill for using my debit card . In total... $32.40 (For an outstanding pedi service in Jersey it costs $20, I guess I'm spoiled). read more

I love coming to this place for nail services! Diana is fantastic and the other ladies who has provided services have been great as well. I have terrible, unruly eyebrows and they do a fantastic job for a reasonable $6. I had a gel pedicure done 4 weeks ago and if my toes had not grown out so much I would still have it. I had to have it removed because that polish was still hanging on. Definitely worth the $35. They lose a star only because I came in to have a gel manicure removed but not redone. I knew I had a lot of yardwork coming up and I did not want to deal with a new manicure. Even though I was also having another service done (eyebrow wax), they charged me $10 to remove the gel manicure. I had never had anyone charge me to remove polish, and I was under the impression that the $25 I had paid for it initially included the removal. They had always been very insistent that I came in to have gel removed as opposed to attempting it myself. I've always felt that I was receiving quality services from this nail salon. Diana is great and you can tell she takes great pride in her work. It's best to bring cash because there is a fee to use a credit card no matter the denomination. I've lived in the neighborhood for about 5 years now and this is the ONLY nail salon I frequent. I typically go for waxing (eyebrows every two weeks and bikini once a month). I was extremely nervous during my first bikini wax, however, Dianna made me feel relaxed and right at home. She walked me through the process and did her best to ensure I was comfortable at all times. Quick, efficient, and virtually pain free. Would 100% recommend if you're looking for a place to get a bikini wax but were too scared to try.
