Ok ok, so maybe just maybe I was wrong on my first trip here. It could have just been a bad day for ole' girl so imma take it back. I came in again with my homegirl and got a different nail tech to do my pedi and she was way more pleasant and detailed. She was playfully shady but was very respectful and I tipped extra because I appreciated the new experience much more than the first time. It's unfortunate because for an SNS mani this is the best in the neighborhood - they do the best job and it lasts a long time so that's good. However, I'd go anywhere else if I had an option. I hate that it's cash only - at the least the other spots nearby let you Venmo. They don't give a massage with a pedi so I always go somewhere else for that. And, they suck at time management. I asked for a 5:15 appointment, they told me the latest they could do is 4:30, so I left early, and then waited 45 min for the mani to start at 5:15 pm as I'd originally requested. Wtf? I was looking for a clean safe salon, in a decent neighborhood in West Philly where my daughter is in school. I was visiting just for an afternoon, and I wanted to do something nice for my daughter, as well as spend some quality time with her. This salon was very accommodating, and the owner was a very sweet man. He did a great job on my nails, but the real icing was his assistant Lisa. I'm big on simple, clean manicures, and this place really delivered. The nail technician trimmed my cuticles gently, and the overall nail prep process was extremely relaxing. I really like how she filed my nails into a square shape with rounded corners to enhance the shape of my natural nails. She was very quick yet meticulous about the nail polish application as well. Apparently, the gold glitter nail polish I selected was a very popular color that was unfortunately also discontinued, but she poured the last bit of polish left in the bottle onto a flat dish to make sure I could get the color I wanted! FOR FOLKS WITH HYPERHIDROSIS: My hands tend to get really sweaty because of a medical condition called hyperhidrosis, which typically makes me wary to get manicures at salons because some people can be very judgmental. First of all: CASH ONLY. They have an ATM, but better to bring your own. They don't take their instruments out of sterilized packets so I don't know I felt about that, but everything was clean otherwise. Gloves during the pedicure but not during the manicure. Tina did a great job with everything, especially the gold foil. My purple color on my fingernails was not as dark as the sample, so be aware that dip usually comes out a little lighter so ask for extra layers if you want it darker. It was my first time getting dip, but I was happy with the results. I appreciated that they were very upfront with pricing and told me if something was going to be extra. Basically, I didn't feel like they were trying to milk me out of money like a lot of other places do. I paid $25 for the pedicure and $40 for the gel manicure ($30 plus $10 for design). Let me start with saying that I am not usually a person to rate businesses, and typically give places more than one chance because everyone has bad days. Having said that. I will not being going back to this place because the service has made me feel terrible on not one, but TWO occasions. 4 weeks ago I called in to get an appointment for a pedicure with a French tip. They don't usually take walk ins which is totally understandable. Upon entry and getting matched with a tech, I was asked again what I want, a French predicure. To which she's asks do you want gel, and I reply no. And she says are you sure it's only 5 dollars more, and I say no I don't want gel on my feet please. So she proceeds to give me the pedicure (and file my one nail into a crazy angle to which I questioned and asked could it be evened out, which I don't think she was happy with). When the time comes for polish she says , we only do French with gel. When I ask why wasn't I told this when there were clearly better times for me know this. She said it's been that way for years. So instead I got a regular pedicure with regular polish. And at this point I was getting a lot of attitude from the tech because I no longer wanted the French even though she told me gel is better many, many times. After she finished my nails she put me under a fan at one of the nail stations. She asked me to pay. She didn't mention a time limit to let my feet cure nor said bye but left right after that. No other tech checked on me or talked to me after that encounter. So I left and wind up ruining my two pinky toes, but let it go. I came in today, a month later, to get a fresh pedicure for an upcoming wedding. I was hoping the last encounter was just a fluke as I had been there before and never had this problem. I scheduled a 6pm appointment for a regular pedicure again to which I was told was good to go. I get sat immediately upon entry and told put my get into the water. My tech decided to file off my former nail polish with a machine which I think is odd but don't question as last time I questioned anything I was seen as the rude one. He asked to pick a color which I was then handed a box of color samples as usual. Once again when we get to the polishing part , he proceeds to put gel on my toes and tries to cure it. When I tell him that I asked for a regular pedicure , I am once again met with attitude. He begins to talk to the only other tech there in another language . And she informs me that I can get regular but I still have to pay for gel pedicure because they had to file the former gel off my nails! When I tell them that that was indeed regular polish, and I was certain because of my last encounter, the tech legit looks me in my eyes and says " I know that was gel but okay" and uses the towel my feet were cleaned on to wipe the gel off my nails. Both techs are giving me attitude at this point and I can tell they were mad I wanted a regular pedicure. He finishes and I ask should I sit under a fan to speed up the curing (so we can all put of there) and the other nail tech tells me they don't offer that. She also then proceeds to tell me: She had me down for a gel pedicure in the reservation book and that I should take responsibility for that. And that the color I chose was from a gel/regular combo which is how they come so that's why they were confused. And if I wanted a regular I should have chosen another color. (Mind you all the offerings come in a gel/regular combo AND I was given these offerings by the person doing my nails). And that when he sawed off the other color I should have said something. To which I replied "so I get all th attitude I'm getting now. " She replied "all the attitdue I was receiving was warranted because of me". At this point I haven't seen my nail tech he went to the back. But they had been talking back and forth in another language this whole time I was waiting. She decides to put me under a fan so they can get out of there. And tells me she remembers me from last time but she doesn't remember if I got gel or not and doesn't remember if I got the fan which they "don't offer". So I paid , dried up and walked out. I was met with a friendly goodbye on my way out. Gaslight, talked down to, mocked in another language not once but twice is crazy. At the end of the day, I am paying for a service and I'm not looking for you to kiss my ass. But if you don't want to do regular pedicures, please do not offer them. read more

Very happy to have them open again! My birthday was this week and the only thing I wanted to do was get my nails done. I continue to stay home, wear a mask, and social distance so I decided to treat myself to a little pampering for an hour. There's a picture of the sign outside - you must make an appointment, they will take your temp, and no guests who aren't also receiving a service. You have to keep your mask on and all the employees have their mask on. They also put plexiglas at every station and sanitize the table and chair between folks. I assumed prices would be higher (reduced capacity for clients, increase in cleaning labor) and I was prepared for that (see photo for prices to be prepared) and left more than 20% tip because you know a mani pedi in a pandemic is not essential. My appointment was for a 11, they called saying my tech was free and Asking if I could come in early - that wasn't a problem for me so I did. High quality dip mani and pedicure. In and out in one hour (the most efficient but not rushed service of my life!) I called to see if there was walk-in availability and was told to come in. I waited for all of 2 minutes before they took me. There were so many dip color choices which is overwhelming, but great. I showed a design picture and asked for gold foil on two fingers per hand. Before starting, Tina told me the cost and gave a breakdown of what made it that price. That was extremely helpful because I could have chosen to not get the design and save money if necessary. She then asked what shape I was looking for and carefully filed my nails until they were all nearly identical. She would hold my hand up in front of her face to make sure the edges were straight and the shape was accurate, which I've never seen anyone do before. She carefully applied the dip and was very neat; this is probably the most natural looking my dip nails have ever looked out of 4-5 salons. I left the salon extremely happy with the natural look of my nails and the design is beautiful. I'm anxious to see how they hold up! I never write reviews, but felt Tina's attention to detail and willingness to make them exactly what I wanted was too rare not to tell other people. read more

I've been coming here for several months now and would give every single time 5 stars! I tried several nail salons in Philly and was disappointed by each until coming to Diamond. The staff is friendly and treats you like family. I've never heard anyone complain while in the salon because each nail tech is talented and listens to what you want. Over the past five months, I've been coming in for a fill and a pedicure every 2-3 weeks (my nails would last much longer - I just hate the gap on my fingernails and I prefer my toes to match). More recently, I took two separate trips to Florida so I chose bright colors and asked for a warm weather type of design. Before that though, I told my nail tech to do whatever she'd like and was extremely impressed by her designs each time. This place does not disappoint! A few notes: You are required to wash your hands once you enter and there are dividers at each mani and pedi station. I highly recommend making an appointment because there are rarely room for walk-ins. However, it's always worth a try if you need to get in quickly. It is cash only but there is an ATM. I usually always have a good experience here, but today I got the worst manicure of my life (by Alex? the younger woman wearing black leggings and a yellow tank top on Saturday, June 29). She butchered the surface of my nails with a rough buffer (leaving deep scratches behind), and cut/filed my nails unevenly (some are longer than others and are inconsistent in shape). The polish was applied too thickly, leaving huge air bubbles on the nail surface, and she sloppily applied the clear bottom and upper layers. Both the clear polish and grey polish are visible on areas of skin near my nails. She didn't do a thorough job with the pedicure either. Not only did she not really clip away the dead skin/cuticles near the nail, but she only applied two thin layers of polish and missed painting the sides of my nails. I'm not surprised she didn't do a thorough job because she was constantly answering the phone, writing new appointments in the schedule book, and pausing to take payments from other customers. Total waste of $37 for a crappy mani-pedi I could have done better at home. My nails look terrible. I'm afraid to take the polish off and see the ravaged nails underneath. I got a mani/gel pedi, so they offer these really gorgeous nail menus to choose from, i wanted to take one home it was so pretty. My attendant was gracious and kind, the pedi chairs were new-looking and working properly which is always nice. Everything felt at ease and clean. Also they have a no- child, no guest policy- which i dont mind. One thing i wish they didn't do is force Gel Mani's over regular polish. That seems to be a growing trend among the shops. I used to come here pretty often and it was my go-to nail salon but I recently moved so I haven't been back in a while. I was in the area so I decided to come in with a gel manicure that I wanted to remove and get regular polish. It costs an additional $5 for gel removal by the way! To remove the gel, my nails were wrapped and then just as she finished the last nail, she went back to the first nail and started chipping away...with the sharp edge of the metal blade of some scissors... Also within that timeframe, I doubt the gel was ready to come off and it wasn't - since she had to rewrap the cotton and then come back to it. I honestly would not have minded if she decided to walk away and wait a bit more for the nails to soak so that it is easier to remove. I asked her to cut my nails but I felt that she hadn't filed my nails as well as she could have since I had bit of jagged tips that I saw and felt after they were painted. She painted my nails with three coats for my left hand and two for my right and then quickly put top coat haphazardly - I can see on my dried nails where the top coat does not reach all the way to the end of my nails. I'm pretty disappointed in my visit. There were only one or two other customers (one on her way out when I got started). I felt like the whole process was rushed - from removing the gel to putting the topcoat on. Also, I know that their gel nail selection gets lots of love but their selection of regular nail polish seems like it hasn't been refreshed in a while. As much as I liked this place in the past, it may be time for me to let this place go. read more

When I came in they were kind to me and the pedi massage was amazing, they have many nail styles to choose from and the prices are directly posted so it's straightforward and simple instead of hidden costs by other nail salons. I admit I was a little worried about going here because some of the pictures I saw didn't look so great even though the reviewer gave high rankings but man this place is AWESOME. For a reg pedi and gel mani it was $45 which cannot be beat, especially being in the city! I used to go to a place near DE that would've cost me $65 or more for the same thing. One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to manicures is if the technician doesn't get all of the extra cuticle skin, but this woman got it alllllll and I couldn't be happier. The entire process for both took about 1 hour 20 mins. The massage chairs they have are by far the best I've ever sat in and left me sore later (in a good way). They thoroughly clean their pedicure bowls after each use which was nice to see. Overall, great experience and I'm super happy to have found my new place!
