I have been coming here for years and over the past year, have noticed that the staff are more consistently rude and behind schedule. My last two appointments started at least 30 minutes after they were scheduled, with no apology or explanation. The last straw was a recent pedicure and eyebrow wax where I asked the technician to be gentle with the massage due to a recent ankle injury and she LAUGHED at me and rolled her eyes. A different tech did my eyebrows and repeatedly commented that they were "thick and uneven," again laughing at me. I felt terrible after leaving which is not what I want when I pay money to do something nice for myself. The work they do is average at best and the main selling point is that you can almost always get an appointment - but trust me, this shouldn't be enough to choose this salon when there are much better alternatives around! read more

Made an appointment for a regular manicure and had to wait an additional 20 min. The lady who did my nails was so incredibly rushed. As I'm looking at my nails right now a day later, I still have many cuticles and the polish doesn't go all the way to the tip. I've never felt so rushed at any nail salon before, and it was definitely noticeable. It's $15 for a regular polish but then they charge me an extra two dollars for a weekly cleaning? Absolutely loved my experience. Good selection of colors. Nails are done quickly and with a nice quality. Additionally ladies offer a complementary shoulder massage. Left feeling pampered. I've been coming here for two years and I have always had a good experience. The inside is clean and staff is friendly. I always get a dip powder manicure, and Maggie does a great job. I feel like a lot of places are not familiar with dip so the result is kind of awkward but Maggie always does a good job and it lasts up to 4 weeks. Make sure to call ahead and make a reservation, they get busy on the weekends! After my two years of coming here I've never had a bad experience until I had my nails done by Jenny. She filed my nails like she hates them, she filed so aggressively that she filed off the skin around my nails and gave me multiple cuts on my fingers that bled. Aside from this one bad experience and manicurist to avoid. I highly recommend blue nail. read more

I really wanted to like this place after seeing all the fantastic reviews, but I just didn't love my experience. When walking in, the place is large and has so many color selections to choose from. I was definitely impressed at all the color variety available. My technician was also very efficient. Unfortunately, she opened a box of tools, and this is the first time IN YEARS that I have seen a box of tools just opened and used. I'm accustomed to the technician opening a clean or sterile pack of tools not just tools that have been used on what could be a million people. My nails also chipped a day later, so I don't think I'd return here since there are many other options in the neighborhood. read more

just came here for a mani pedi and had a great time! the girls that worked there were so nice and welcoming. they took my temperature right when i got in and helped me pick my colors! the pedicure was relaxing and i loveee that heel oil they put on for your feet. i desperately needed it. my manicure was flawless and the UV light they use, I LOVE IT! other salons it hurts my nails but the one here is gentle and effective. this will be my new go to salon read more

Came here for a spa gel mani/pedi and loved it. Didn't have any issues scheduling an appointment same day and everyone was so friendly and took their time. The massage was amazing! Pricing was reasonable. Tips are cash only but there is an atm. Highly recommend asking for Cindy! She was so sweet and did my pedicure. My manicure with Lola was also great, efficient, and she gave an awesome shoulder/neck massage. I don't do this for myself often but will be coming back for sure. read more

This is becoming one of my go-to nail salons. It's spacious, and usually accept walk-ins unless they're packed during prime hours so you can also call ahead and make an appointment. I usually get the pedicures, the massage chair is amazing and they take their time with a good foot scrub and massage. It's $30 which is reasonable, the average going price for pedis in center city. I've found places for cheaper, but they aren't as nice as Blue Nails salon. The nail techs always do a great job. I've never left disappointed. I looooooove the mimosas or champagne they give you. And now they even have frequent buyer rewards cards so buy 10 mani or pedi and get 11th free. I come here a lot and will be back! read more

I was able to get same day appointment on phone for mani pedi. Good precautions for pandemic like taking temperature and requiring mask. It was overall a good experience. Regular mani pedi costed me ~40 bucks which is pretty decent for the services they provide and the level of details in each service . Also this is the first time my skin around nails didn't painfully fringe after mani which is often the case at so many other places that I have tried in Philly, I will give them so 5 stars just for that. The woman giving me mani complained about how my hands were small which I thought was really weird so I ignored it. Yesterday was my second time here and I'm convinced I will never go anywhere else in Philly! Recently I've tried a few nail salons that charged $25 for gel and were just convenient for me to stop by after work but I was continuously frustrated that my gal manicures weren't looking so hot after about a week. I came to Blue where the gel manicure was $30, and it lasts well over two weeks.. it's beyond worth the price. I had my gel removed and redone yesterday after two weeks just because I decided I wanted a new color. After two weeks it was still perfect on my nails.. not peeling or chipping like I had experienced at other places. I had a bright neon color on my nails, that included a coat of white underneath so it was very difficult to get off. Most salons would force it off by using a drill or scraping it and that always leaves my nails wrecked, but the girl took the time to soak my nails and remove the gel properly so that my nails weren't ruined. Hours are great for working people - they take appointments until 6:45. Tip: They do not allow tips on a card so bring cash! They have an ATM but I'm not sure what the surcharge is. They also give you a complementary glass of red or white wine, or champagne if you're interested :) read more

I went to Blue Nails as a group of three. We had an appointment and they were able to take us right away, upon flipping through the pallets and pallets of nail polish colors, of course. They didn't realize we had appointments, and were about to turn us away. My pedicure got started a notch before the others. I was the last to finish my pedicure by minutes and they were waiting around for about 10-15 minutes for my gel manicure to be complete. I kept wondering whether it was me or the technician. To my disappointment, my gels had slight chips within a week. By week two, pieces of gel were breaking off. My normal gel lasts about 3 weeks before the first chip. As a former ballerina, I typically experience some pain when they touch my toe nails during a pedicure, so that's nothing new. The day after my pedicure, my toenails were still aching. Almost two weeks later, my big toes are still agitated. Although, the polish is still going strong on my toes. I'm looking forward to getting back to my regular salon but with my regular technician. read more

Then, if you get just a manicure, there is a plastic divider between you and your nail technician, with an opening to slip your hands under just like with a bank teller. Hi Blue Nail & Spa, I've been coming to you for my gel manicure and pedicure for over a year, yet you somehow managed to underwhelm me with your over the top expectations and entitled behavior. I think i've been extremely reasonable in paying you in cash over these 9 months (going out of my way to do so, as your owner said "next time, we prefer cash, not card"), overtipping ("that's all tip?"), and even the rude service (I understand/speak both Mandarin and Korean. I don't appreciate you speaking in underhanded tones about my outfit or you wagering on how much I'm going to tip), all because you guys provide some quality nail art (kudos to Ling, who's actually quite sweet and possibly the one person who isn't a mean, rude technician at this salon). But as you join the ranking of mediocre, sub-par, and quite honestly, unpleasant, customer facing institutions, it's time you realized the truth. Your technicians are bullies and somewhat racist. It's really uncomfortable to sit there and listen to backhanded gossip about how ugly my feet is. It's not cool for you to complain about how I "only" tipped you 20%. I got a gel manicure here, and overall the experience was great. My manicurist was very meticulous with my cuticles, which isn't the case at some other places! She also gave a great massage. My nails looked amazing, but unfortunately they didn't last very long due to peeling around the edges. Will definitely be going back though! read more

Have never had a bad experience until just recently. I have been going to this nail salon for well over a year now and continued to go back because the service was usually amazing and my nails always looked perfect. I am very picky when I comes to my nails so I tend to pick nail salons based on experience and quality while great customer service is still something I have high on my list of priorities. As I said, I have been a customer of Blue Nail for a while now. I tried it out after my preferred nail salon moved locations. Every time I visit the nail salon I request the same service: gel manicure and gel pedicure which cost around 75$ total. Although the price is a little higher than I would like I opt for this salon due to the quality of service that I have consistently seen. Given that I have a nice experience, feel welcome and an taken care of I am one to tip generously. Just recently I went in and requested the same service and went to pay after my visit. The owner/boss, whose name I don't know, then proceeded to tell me that the amount I was planning to tip was "not enough". She continued to throw numbers at me, calculating how much I "should" be giving her and the other technician who was laughing to herself standing right behind me. The initial technician who started my pedicure was very sweet, nearing the end of the pedicure she had to leave the store and another technician came to me and finished up by just painting my nails. I wasn't going to tip the full amount to someone who came in in the end of my service, I truly did not feel as if that was fair because the initial technician did 99% of the work and they do not pool their tips. After that, I was then transferred to another technician who happened to be the owner/boss. She had zero expression on her face, said maybe 2 words to me and was aggressively flopping my hands around during the manicure. On top of that, she was having multiple conversations with other technicians and customers who were in the salon. I'm never one to complain so I just sat there in silence as she continued to groom and paint my nails. I already was hesitant to give a larger tip due to the experience that I had but still felt as if I should tip the two for their services. When the owner/boss started talking down to me and spitting numbers at me I felt disrespected and, quite honestly, embarrassed and belittled. The amount of tip that I give is COMPLETELY up to me and I shouldn't be harassed for the amount if i decide it was appropriate for the quality of service I had received. The technicians are extremely rude, like many people said. I tipped my technician 5 dollars and she was not satisfied and said "we appreciate 20%". I honestly don't care about an extra 1-2 dollars but I hate people forcing me to tip more. So I just said "take it or leave it" and she just grabbed money and rolled her eyes to me. I will never go to this place again. There're so many good nail salons in Philly and I want to get my nails done with relaxation and joy, not with somebody forcing me to give more money. Came here after a terrible experience at another local nail salon. Amy fixed my gel tips to perfection. I dont have the best fingers to work with - its takes a skilled and meticulous nail tech as my nails are not long and skinny and I bite my them from time to time, but Amy did a fantastic job. The Mimosa was a nice touch as well as the back massage. They are open on Easter and took me without an appointment. Thank you Blue Nail & Spa for making me feel great and less self conscious about my nails! I will be a returning customer I returned to Blue for a gel refill and although Amy is no longer working there, Sotheny did an amazing job. Well I went back to Blue and now Sotheny is no longer working there, so needless to say this place makes it difficult to get established with a regular technician and they couldnt take me as a walk-in (too busy). I had gotten a manicure here a year ago which was great! However, I was disappointed with my pedicure yesterday. The man doing my pedicure did not follow my request to cut my nails short - he was filing them did not pick up clippers until I asked him to kindly. He also didn't know how to cut cuticles and ended up having the woman next to him who was doing my friends pedicure take over while he sat there and learned. Regardless to say I felt like a Guinea pig and just cutting my nails took 55 minutes. I ended up cutting the manicure short and just having clear coat instead of color because of how long everything was taking. There was no apology for the whole situation.. That's about average $ for CC. What's not average about this place... Is how they spend time messaging your feet and making sure my polish looks awesome.
