Terrible experience. We were out of town and had them come to fix a leak. Paid for the work, but came home to the leak continuing when the system ran. Had them come back, and the technician implied that "someone had cut the line" or that our dog had dug there. Neither of these were the case. The technician could not have been less interested in doing a reasonably good job. I called and spoke to James. He was not concerned in the least that we had a bad experience. Note that the second listing on this Yelp search comes up with the same company owned by James Wood with a 1.7 star review. The first entry on this Yelp search appears to be an attempt for the company to scrub its low star rating and start over. Do not be fooled. Do not use this company. read more

Top Notch confirmed my appointment, called when they were 20 min away, and showed up on time! They tested my system, and let me know what was wrong, how to fix it, and reprogrammed my system to make the watering more efficient. They also directed me to the Georgetown Utilities website to apply for a $75 rebate for having a licensed irritation professional check & repair my system. Top Notch came out as scheduled and called when 30 minutes out. He listened to what was wrong, quickly completed the back flow test as required by the city of Round Rock, and then easily utilized the wire tracker to find the two valves and uncovered them. He recommended an easy way to fix the remaining issue, which I was able to do myself, and charged less than the previous company which had been out for hours and not solved the problem, but made it worse and charged much more as well! With the drought and the water restrictions in town, it was difficult to keep my lawn alive until more rain arrived. After a couple months in the summer of high water bills and yellow grass, I decided that it was time to find an expert who could take a look into my irrigation system. A friend referred me to James and he did an excellent job. He replaced several sprinkler heads that were broken or were uninstalled correctly the first time, and adjusted them in the right directions. I couldn't believe I was wasting that much money watering the fence and the side of the house! After a few weeks, my lawn started to look greener and looked a lot healthier than my neighbors'. I actually had to call James again to look at the system again because some of the heads were pushed back to incorrect positions (probably due to the lawn mower) and he came out the next day I called him. In this day of failing customer service and missed appointments, Top Notch Irrigation is breath of fresh air. This is the second time I've used them and once again they exceeded my expectations. I made my appointment effortlessly online and was able to select the day and time I needed. Communication was great and the technician (Mike) showed up a few minutes EARLY. He went over my entire yard, checking and fixing each sprinkler head. He also walked me through my controller setup and showed me features that I didn't know I had. Caveat Emptor! Poor customer service!!! Called them to check & repair my system. They were on time & did the work, but not very thorough. I noticed a couple of sprinkler heads they had replaced weren't working and others that were working before and replaced to improve coverage didn't. Hey this is Texas - during summer it doesn't take long for a thirsty lawn to turn brown due to lack of water. Ok - no problem, give them a call, get it fixed. THAT was the problem. Left messages 7-8 times, no return calls. Finally, James answered his phone. He said he was driving and would call me back after he had a chance to look at his calendar - that's the last time I talked to him. He never called back or returned any of my later phone calls. By this time a small area of thirsty grass before the repairs, became huge area of die off and no amount of watering would bring it back. I spent a significant amount of $$$ to get the work done. I don't judge businesses on the problems that occur - those things happen. I rate on what you do to correct it - they didn't do anything. read more

We had a different company come in first and they said and I quote were "perplexed" and James had it figured out in minutes and he was cheaper....much cheaper, the other company wanted us to pay $400 to replace a valve that was not even broken. I called Top-notch because one of the zones would not stop watering. Owner James returned my call promptly and arrived on time. Instead of charging me a new valve, he charged me the service call and tightened all valves because they were not installed correctly by other company. I have a sprinkler system put in by Choate Irrigation. Ive had numerous problems with it and the customer service at Choate is horrendous. So when my sprinkler system started acting up, I looked for another option even if it meant it wasn't covered by the warranty. That's when I found Top Notch. After reading the 1 person's shady review, I was a bit hesitant, but due to the other positive reviews I decided to make the call. It was answered in a very friendly and personable manner. I told him what my problem was and he said he could probably fix it over the phone so that I didn't have to incur a fee for having him come out to my house. I was on my way to work and told him I would have to call him back later when I was at home. When I got home, I called and left a voicemail. It was returned within 5 mins. We made some changes in the control panel and the problem was fixed. He was extremely polite and efficient. I will ABSOLUTELY call him again should the need arise and will highly recommend him. If you need work on your sprinkler system - THIS IS THE GUY TO CALL. Do not put any weight into the only negative review. You will not be sorry. :) read more

Today I had my second experience with James and Top Notch. It is very difficult to express how perfectly satisfied i am with the job this company and gentleman did for me. I used their online scheduling tool and James arrived right at the specified time. He even called to tell me he was on the way. I had two or three issues with my automated sprinkler system that required his attention. He and his worker (I've forgotten his name but he is awesome, as well) got right to work checking and fixing the problems. We have a fairly large yard with two sprinkler systems. I called an spoke to James over the phone and explained what was happening and were very sure there was a leak in our system. James came out that same day and was able to diagnois the problem as electrical and repaired it within a very short time.
