What a great section of beach! There's a public stairway down to the beach and a lifeguard station if you just keep walking Topaz until you hit the water. There's no public restroom or other amenities. But there is a rock jetty and some benches as you walk up the stairs and on the bluff. I saw volleyball games, surfers, kayakers, prayer groups, photographers, kids and just about everyone else as I walked along the beach. It was great to have close access and, of course, the water was freezing in late April.

I go here many times…read more Far too many times. Each visit feels like a magical town straight out of a fantasy book. The fresh scent of seafood draws you into the pier, with the soft sounds of the birds above and from the thrashing waves of the sea below. The pier is a nice place to walk around and relax, sometimes a little bit crowded. And if you are lucky, some days might have less people. But regardless, Redondo beach has some of the best buildings. It's a good place to go fishing outside or buying fish. They have a variety of markets selling fish out there. Although I can say I had a good experiance, I will admit that it can be pricey. The shops have very expensive souvenirs unlike the last time I visited long ago. I haven't been to the restaurants yet, well some of them. But I have tried the churros and the Chinese food. The churros tasted good, my favorite item to buy whenever I visit. And for anyone who wants to save, it would be a really good snack to try when visiting. The other foods I tried tasted good, but I feel like the pricing is a bit too much. I will rate this a five because despite the high pricing, me and my family will continue to come to Redondo Beach for a nice walk. Thank you for the experiance.

Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable on all bikes. He educated my son and I both on everything with the bike. He put it together himself at the shop. After a month we bought it back to the shop for a tune up make sure everything is working up to par. Jeff has gone above and beyond in service a few times he came over to the house so I did t have to bring the bike in did a few repairs at the house and other times picked the bike up and dropped it off. I am so grateful I bought the bike from a shop where I can call up when something goes wrong or with a question. So much better than buying on line. Very happy with our experience

The beach itself is clean and wide, perfect for long walks, sunset watching, or just sitting and doing nothing for a while. What really stands out is the energy -- you'll see surfers, volleyball games, cyclists, families, and people just enjoying life without rushing. The Strand is great for walking or biking, and there are tons of solid food spots and bars nearby, whether you want a casual coffee or a sunset drink. It's less chaotic than some nearby beaches but still has plenty going on. Easy to spend a whole day here and leave feeling refreshed. Definitely one of my favorite beach spots in LA.

We love coming through here, not for the sand or the water, but for the view, bar and grub hopping. Coming through on an off-season midweek late lunch, we weren't surprised to find no crowds - which we kinda liked. (We've been here many times, mostly during weekend peak times and offff...) We didn't miss that at all. There are tons of cute shops, eateries (many who are very dog friendly), and fantastic ocean views. If you feel like getting steps in, I suggest walking to the end of the pier and back. Parking is hit and miss. A challenge during the weekends, but plenty. Street and structure available. You can pay with cards, coins or through an app. It never gets old coming through. We shall return over and over again.

On this particular Saturday, I am here with Heal the Bay to clean up the beach in a series called "Nuthin' but Sand. Although, this beach is relatively clean that some of the volunteers stated there are a lot of little tiny pieces of styrofoam. I don't remember if it was last year or the year before that residents found a body on the sand in the evening. I am glad that was not during our beach clean up. I am surprised to see one of the volunteers bring back a hypodermic needle. We do have containers for these needles so nobody accidentally gets poked. I was told that 800 people signed up and about 560 showed up to help. Altogether we rounded up about 90 pounds of trash including ropes that you find on fishing boats, couple pairs of shoes, glass and plastic bottles, and a few vape devices. I encourage people to stop littering because they end up in our ocean and beaches. I even witnessed a driver on the freeway ditching a cigarette butt out the window on the way to this event. Is it that hard to use the ash tray then toss it all out later in a proper receptacle? Just sayin', even soda cups and different straws on the streets end up at the beach.

I even checked Yelp and their website before coming but didn't realize this and that was the only thing I brought! I was coming alone with my little kid so needed to keep the baggage to minimum... The lifeguards approached me to tell me the new policy at which point I was getting sad that we had no shade, after circling 20 min around for parking etc, getting a little tired. They apparently have shades for borrowing but they run out early on a summer day like this and one guard said they are certainly all out since the morning. (It was past noon). But Conner went above and beyond to go double check anyways, found and brought one back, with a shovel. Which was too heavy for me to do anything with, but he picked it up like a fork and shoveled away the sand, and expertly set up the beach umbrella. Thank you thank you thank you, Conner, you totally saved our day!! Lots of space for little ones to play, wide shallow area, ok and safe for kid and adults who can't swim. We stayed all afternoon and my kid had a total blast. The only thing is, you better have some kind of shade, and hew, with the kindness of one of the staff, we did!

The beach cove and sea cave are open to the public and super fun to explore though the closer you get to the cave the rockier the incline so be careful, watch your step and have on some sensible foot attire. The cliff side mountain structure is beautiful as well, the formation of various shades of earth, gorgeous brown, orange, beige, gray and truly cool hues. There are some wooden Adirondack chairs apart of the resort, free to use lots of patches of sand and rocks to spread out a small blanket or sit on and views upon views of the ocean. Picnic friendly, but very quaint. You can see a lot of look out points and paths close by and just before you decline there is one final pool area (for guest)with tables on the outside for public use. It's very serene, peaceful and even with packs of adorable families and energetic kids very relaxing. The waves and breeze kind of make everything calm (holding the hand of someone special for a beat doesn't hurt either). Unfortunately pets aren't allowed in this area and there is a bridge with a pup corner with rails to leave your dog as well as bowls for water. Felt bad for the one we saw wanting to play with their family, but I'm optimistic they got spoiled after. Definitely will get lost in this cove meets cave meets beach again in the near future.

The tide pools that I really wanted to get to and allow my girls to explore were closed off due to falling rocks from the nearby cliffs. So much to love about this area... The hike down was both of my daughters' favorite part. Then seeing all the rocks and shells was their favorite. Then the few tide pools. Then the beach. Then the resident lizard. It never stopped with those two. Lol. One reviewer, B T. (from 8/6/20), stated that the sandy beach at Abalone Cove stands out above the rocky shoreline in the Rancho Palos Verdes area. Indeed this is true, but I think because of the hike down, the area does not seem to get too crowded - not a summer Friday morning headed into noon. The parking lot was nearly empty when we arrived at around 10AM and about 50% capacity when we left just before noon. My parking fee was $6.
