So sweet California living! I love walking and just seeing the beautiful sunset at the Strand...this to me is what living in California is all about. The Strand has to be one of the most beautiful and fun places to go to in California Sand, water, sun.... Restaurants, bars, ice cream shops, burger joints, pizza, pasta places... Clothing boutiques, shoe stores, surf shops, sun glass huts.... The young, the old, seniors, adults, teens, tweens, youngsters, skaters, surfers, volleyball players, couples, single people, tourists..... The Strand has something for everyone Whether you want to people watch, shop, swim, surf or just simply relax, The Strand is a great place to go. Do try and catch the sunrise or the sunset if you come here...it is simply....breathtaking :).

My review will be mainly on the walking path. My absolute favorite spot to go to for a walk. On regular days it's gorgeous and on good weather days it's spiritually uplifting. For those of you who regularly go jogging or running it should be on your running list. You cant go wrong with the beautiful beach on one side with its crashing waves and chill winds and on the other beautiful homes. There are metered parking structures all over. I recommend showing early because they get filled rather quickly. However, there are metered structures all around the area if you're willing to walk a little more. Definitely one of my happy places. You should give it a shot.

Why do I live in SoCal? Why do I live close to the beach? Did you go to the Strand this weekend to see the sunset... wearing shorts and flipflops? Then you will know. Next time? Morning walk on the Strand and then catch a cup of coffee at one of the cafes - still shorts and flipflops!

Get the cinnamon roll! I have been here for dinner but brunch is the best ! We sat at a table looking at the water, the brunch cinnamon roll and avocado toast for starters was amazing! We are heading back this weekend for the cinnamon roll alone. The waitstaff was very patient and attentive. Spacing in the restaurant was roomy. I took one star away because the air conditioner unit above our table was leaking water into our foods and drinks. At one point a waiter came with a rag and a swifer broom and began to touch the top of the ceiling RIGHT OVER OYR FOOD AS WE ATE!! So disgusting. We just looked at us and was like oh sorry and then kept going. Safe to say no one else wanted to eat the remainder of there food. We were mostly done so we order dessert to take our minds off . The donuts were better than Sidecar.. Randy's... Dunkin's or any other place I've ever had. Definitely go here for the sweets.

During the summer time i like to ride my bike along the strand from Redondo/Hermosa to Manhattan Pier. It's a nice ride lots of other bikers, roller bladders, skateboarders, walkers and runners all share the strand. Nice place and pretty clean.

I love The Strand except when those stupid families line up and block the entire walkway. Move the *&@#! over idiots or speed up. Darwinism at it's best. :( :p There are rules to walking and riding on The Strand if you have to ask what they are then stay off. Speaking of walking The Strand...come join me at this event http://www.yelp.com/events/manhattan-beach-uye-2008-richstone-pier-to-pier-walkathon-manhattan-beach-to-hermosa-beach-and-back

The Strand is one of my favorite places - there is something about the salty ocean air that makes me very happy. Probably because it brings back so many good memories! My preferred section has always been between the Manhattan Beach Pier and the Redondo Beach Boardwalk. Perfect for rollerblading, it is mostly smooth concrete, and dodging the assorted runners, bikers, erratic small children and dogs only adds to the experience. You can go much farther (the whole thing is 22 miles long) but the path eventually changes to asphalt, which can be kind of scary on 8 little wheels! I never get tired of the view (or the peoplewatching!), and appreciate it more now that I live in a land-locked state with plenty of sand but no beach.

Come on, come all. The Strand is for everyone. Mothers, children, executives, artists, lovers, runners, bikers, walkers, dads, business owners, foodies, winos, people watchers, dreamers, bums, doctors, lawyers, foreigners.......The list goes on. Whether you're running/walking/jogging/skating at sunset or through the early morning fog...it's always good. The collective energy of everyone on The Strand can definitely be felt if you're self-aware.

Having lived in Manhattan Beach for over 8 years, this makes my list of one of my favorite views of the world. The Strand is fantastic for solo activities, dates or group activities. I have walked, run, & biked the Strand. At one point, I lived at a tiny place a block from the Strand and was okay with having no yard because the Strand was my "yard." Between the gorgeous views of ocean, dolphins, homes, Catalina & Palos Verdes, Piers, there's always something to see. Its the busiest on the 4th of July, when there is a Volleyball tournament & the Fireworks in December; makes for great people watching. Plus, there's food, bathrooms & garbage cans along the Strand. The cities keep the Strand very clean and has "street cleaners" come in once a week to wash it. Favorite activities: Running: Early in the morning, during the week. Nothing better than watching the sun come up and the temperature is still cool. Biking: One of my husband and mine's favorite activities was biking from Redondo Beach to Venice (always meant to take it to Santa Monica, but never did). What's great about this activity is you can stop along each of the cities on your route and have a drink and keep going (Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, etc.) Note: Manhattan Beach has an ordinance against drinking & biking. Seriously. So don't overdo it. Also, Manhattan Beach has a separate bike path & walk path and they always threaten to ticket if you don't use the right path. Walking the dog: my dog loved this route. The only downside is many other people do it and they don't always have trained dogs and they can be aggressive barking and pulling. Also, not everyone is good about picking up after their dogs. Parking is difficult, but you can find more options in Redondo Beach & El Segundo (large lots, where as, Manhattan Beach & Hermosa Beach don't have lots, but metered parking).

i love this little patch in Hermosa. i've started taking my son on rides through here. he seems to be a fan so far. clean and well taken care of, except for some sand that gets blown in on windy days. watch out for those on the smooth parts cause it can get slippery. traffic gets really congested during the holiday on The Strand. 4th of July in particular and most of the summer weekends. you'll be walking your bike through here on those days. awesome sights line The Strand. from the gorgeous pacific to the million dollar homes. this is a great ride and a great sight to see. check it out.

Dog City USA! If you're a pet lover - Urine for a treat... this is YOUR spot!! However, if you're considering renting or purchasing any of the multi-million dollar homes along the Strand, and pets are not a driving force in your life, be forewarned! You will NOT be waking to the smells of the ocean. Mix in a hot day.. whooo baby!!! This is a tamer more family friendly vision of the Venice/Santa Monica Boardwalk. But a quality of SoCal life continues to be diminished here (IMHO) because of the overpowering, almost paralyzing stench of (pet?) urine that overwhelms the senses from 45th Street to the Manhattan Beach Pier. It's kind of an ugly secret no one really talks about. It is a SUPER dog friendly environment. Water dishes that appear to be placed as hydration spots for pets, homeowners that place jars filled with doggy biscuits... Pet owners here appear to be very responsible - Almost all of the animals I observed were on leashes. (and carried plastic bags to pick up after their pets). There are a lot of very positive things to be said about The Strand... just read any of the other reviews about this place. The neighborhood standard could be substantially elevated if the community could just do something about that permeating stink.

We love coming through here, not for the sand or the water, but for the view, bar and grub hopping. Coming through on an off-season midweek late lunch, we weren't surprised to find no crowds - which we kinda liked. (We've been here many times, mostly during weekend peak times and offff...) We didn't miss that at all. There are tons of cute shops, eateries (many who are very dog friendly), and fantastic ocean views. If you feel like getting steps in, I suggest walking to the end of the pier and back. Parking is hit and miss. A challenge during the weekends, but plenty. Street and structure available. You can pay with cards, coins or through an app. It never gets old coming through. We shall return over and over again.

Myself, along with other beachgoers, alerted the beach lifeguards about the situation but nothing was done to rectify the issue. I saw another member of the public notify a lifeguard and they were laughed off a bit. When I stepped forward to alert the same lifeguard about the issue, he just chuckled and said, "Yea, we know about it." Maybe it's just me, but I would not be laughing about what could be a serious situation with bird carcasses washing up every couple feet. The sand was also littered with a lit of trash and debris, adding to the uncomfortable situation. I would recommend staying away from the Hermosa Beach shoreline for awhile.

The fresh scent of seafood draws you into the pier, with the soft sounds of the birds above and from the thrashing waves of the sea below. The pier is a nice place to walk around and relax, sometimes a little bit crowded. And if you are lucky, some days might have less people. But regardless, Redondo beach has some of the best buildings. It's a good place to go fishing outside or buying fish. They have a variety of markets selling fish out there. Although I can say I had a good experiance, I will admit that it can be pricey. The shops have very expensive souvenirs unlike the last time I visited long ago. I haven't been to the restaurants yet, well some of them. But I have tried the churros and the Chinese food. The churros tasted good, my favorite item to buy whenever I visit. And for anyone who wants to save, it would be a really good snack to try when visiting. The other foods I tried tasted good, but I feel like the pricing is a bit too much. I will rate this a five because despite the high pricing, me and my family will continue to come to Redondo Beach for a nice walk. Thank you for the experiance.
