    So nice

We stayed here for our little babymoon since I didn't feel like the trek into the city, and my hubs has never stayed out in the hamptons. I've had my eye on this place for awhile after seeing it on groupon years ago. Fancy hotel out in the hamptons? I mean most are like motels done up. Last minute my dad couldn't watch our dogs so I had to add them and that was easy, plus we upgraded our room. $35 for the dogs is pretty cool, I hate places that charge $100s like the dog is gonna destroy the room lol. (Looking at you fox hollow) Anyway it was great for this pregnant girl to find out all the snacks were free so I could right away start snacking (snacking helps you not feel sick) I also loved the nice restaurant was right there so we could walk on over for dinner, or even get room service if I wasn't up to going out. The hotel was gorgeous, room was gorgeous, service great. The bad was I don't know if the AC just was not working, or we didn't do it right, the guy insisted if it was lit up green it was on. There was no cool air. Yeah not fun being pregnant in a 70 degree room. My hubs thought it was fine but yeah he's not the pregnant one lol. Maybe it's some eco thing but I would have preferred a nice cooler room, which never seemed to say anything but 74 degrees, and no cool air seemed to come out of 1 of the vents, yet the green light was on. It was such a confusing central air thing, and we've stayed at 1000s of hotels. It was only one night but if I had been there for the weekend I would have flipped, literally it was cooler outside. Breakfast is included but they don't say well you pay taxes, which wasn't a big deal $3 is no big deal lol but they could mention that in small print or maybe they do I just didn't see it. I was happy we could walk over to get breakfast especially as I felt sick. I wish I had noticed my eggs came with nothing I would have ordered a side, I just figured they always do out of the 100x I've ordered eggs Benny lol. They were good though so I give them that. I also blame pregnancy brain for not reading to see nothing came with it :P Then my hubs checked out and was told they had to charge taxes because hotels.com didn't charge all the taxes or something. It made no sense and that just annoyed me, especially after oh just $35 for two dogs we'll charge meanwhile now we're basically paying the extra money anyway but in taxes? They gave no bill or email bill either so I'm still not sure what these extra taxes are for. Hotels did charge us $58 in taxes, why do we have to pay extra taxes? I would understand if it's a resort fee or something (Gurneys does that) but even going to their website I see none of these extra taxes if you book directly thru them. I only booked thru hotels.com because of ebates lol. Now it's like the lousy 6% cashback is nothing compared to the like $46 in extra taxes we have to pay for some reason. If hotels.com isn't charging taxes correctly they should take it up with them, not charge us meanwhile we paid taxes for the room. Though comparing it from their website, seems hotels.coms charged the right tax, so if they're keeping it, again they should take it up with that website not us because we paid. Anyway it was just an annoyance to a nice night out. If they want to charge resort fees say so, like Gurneys does. Not slap you with it as you leave. Anyway I'd still recommend this hotel despite the tax nonsense. It was a nice night out, and a very nice room. I also liked the being able to take out a Lexus, it was nice. Where's the cute sporty Lexus? I've seen it on instagram! Lol. I'd also still come back because I like nice hotels, and it was a nice time plus amazing service. Plus the fact they allow dogs, our dogs had a blast. Our dogs seriously have never been so well behaved on a vacation, they loved it. If you want a nice hotel, this is the place out in the hamptons. Encase I didn't say it we stayed in a cottage room!

Very good eggs Benedict and burger. Same for the grilled shrimp salad. The muffin and scone basket paled in comparison to the free bread served with the mean. Rather disappointing. Very attentive, friendly service.

    The grout is gross

I arrived back in the room after being out and the people servicing the room had our pillows on the top of our closed suitcases that have been in cars, planes, and dragged around other dirty areas. I asked calmly if they planned to put the pillows on the bed or put new pillows cases on and they said they planned to put them back on the bed. This is on top of the room not being clean when we arrived and a lot of wear and tear in the room. I went to the front desk and told them about my concerns. They didn't do anything. I'm now in bed and it is creaking and there is a divot (the type that forms when a mattress is old). I'm frankly just confused on how this hotel costs so much. I'm really confused. I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott in Newport much more.

Property is expensive but service and amenities here do not justify the price point. The hotel constantly has outside events. Both nights we were here, there was a wedding at the pool area right outside our room. The pool was closed off early for set up and we heard loud club music from 5-10 pm both nights plus loud drunk people yelling until midnight. If this is routine, the hotel should certainly notify guests of this during check in. Room is comfortable and clean with wonderful linens, there are complimentary bottles of water and soda as well as some snacks. Breakfast is included which is a huge plus. Food was very good though again, service is a hit or miss. The first morning was a disaster. Took 30 minutes to get a latte. However the second morning was wonderful, we were served coffee immediately and taken care of. We stayed on points so it wasn't a horrible deal but this place definitely can't justify the $2-3k a night prices!! We did feel that the hotel penalizes those booking on points. We got an ada room and made me wonder if we missed out on having a nice tub instead of an oversized shower. The hotel seems to hold a lot of outside events, which takes away from the serene and more exclusive feel of the hotel. If I'm going to be spending a ton of money here, I'd expect to be able to use the amenities and property anytime instead of those being directed towards other events. There's a cool Samsung frame TV which looks like art but we couldn't figure out how to tune to regular channels. We wanted to watch the us open on espn and ended up having to log into the app via our own cable account. It's small things like these that you expect to be seamless at a resort of this caliber. Location is good, right across the street from restaurants and a 10 minute drive or longer bike ride to the beach. Apparently you can get a beach parking permit from the front desk but again, they do a horrible job of introducing the property and amenities during check in.

It's nice to know one can get good quality Manhattan dining on Long Island. The tuna tare tare with avocado and ginger is heaven. The butternut squash minestrone soup was tasty with a slight kick! The cucumber martini was perfect- not sweet, but didn't taste strong...yet it was. The service was very accommodating and friendly. It was well worth the hour drive for me to get there! The dining room was open, airy and bright. Bravo JG you have struck again!

The Bridgehampton Inn is beautiful and historic -- feels like you're stepping back in time without it feeling modern or outdated. We were seated near the fireplace which was appreciated since it was such a cold day. I loved the artwork and modern touches, like the fun orange-swirled water glasses. We were lucky enough to come during Restaurant Week, so we had the opportunity to sample a bit of everything on the menu. We kicked things off with the tuna tartare, topped with wasabi caviar and crispy potatoes that were the perfect vessel for devouring this dish. We also got the seared foie gras on top of prosciutto, which was decadent and well balanced with the fig preserves. We also tried the escargot which was a standout -- soft and delicious, topped with garlic and parsley and served with fresh bread. For entrees, we had the local flounder with spinach and cauliflower puree which was fresh and delicious. The Berkshire pork guanciale was rich and tender, paired with freshly sauteed vegetables. The wagyu short ribs were the stand out for me -- served with crispy brussels sprouts and truffle mashed potatoes. Dessert was also out of this world. The hazelnut panna cotta had so much flavor that it won over my mom - a lifelong panna cotta hater. The Basque cheesecake was made perfectly, the right balance of cheesy and sweet. The strawberries with mascarpone cream were fresh with just the right berry to cream ratio. I literally dream about this dinner, and hope to return the next time I'm in the area.

The ambiance is charming and cozy, with that classic Hamptons elegance that makes you want to linger over dessert. We were honestly surprised that we haven't been here all these years--it's truly a gem that deserves all the praise it gets. The only small downside was the maitre d', who came across a bit less welcoming than the rest of the team. Thankfully, the rest of the staff more than made up for it with their friendliness and professionalism. Overall, we loved our evening and can't wait to return!

My husband and I stayed here on Easter long weekend, a getaway that we planned to escape the city. We arrived on Thursday evening and departed Sunday morning. We stayed in the Halsey Suite, which was absolutely incredible. The bed was extremely comfortable and the fireplace was just wonderful. My husband and I also decided that our next home has to have a similar bathroom because it was just awesome. The freestanding tub, shower, and amenities were incredible. We also loved the afternoon cookies baked by Liz and just staying at this wonderful inn. On Friday, since it was the only day with good weather, Liz gave us directions to the beach and helped us figure out where to eat for dinner. We drove around and explored the area. On Saturday, Liz gave us passes to the Parrish Art Museum, and we spent the rest of the time just relaxing in the room until dinner which was also nice because the weather was pretty terrible. The room had so many incredible amenities, and it was nice to just be able to get away and relax. It would be remiss of me to leave a review without mentioning the breakfasts made by Liz. 3 courses of absolute deliciousness - as you can see from my photos. They were also wonderful at recommending restaurants to eat at, and tell us what they thought if it was a place we already booked. I also purchased the cookies and cocoa option as a surprise for my husband, and Liz's homemade marshmallows and the homemade cookies we took home allowed us to keep enjoying the stay we had here. If we ever decide to come out to The Hamptons again, White Fences would be the first place we look to book. We had an absolutely incredible stay.

We stayed two nights in a dog friendly room, which was spacious and clean - no previous smell of a dog at all! They had a dog bed and treats with bowls waiting for her. It was so cute! We visited the restaurant and our food was great. Service was quick and helpful with the menu as well. They had the fire place on which was so nice. We went to the bar/lounge afterwards and had a few drinks by that fireplace. So nice and relaxing. Staff was always welcoming and all drinks and food were good. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. That's all you can ask for! My only complaint was when we were checking out I wanted to make sure our bill was correct and wanted to speak with someone. With Sunday brunch going on upstairs there was no one at the front desk for almost 15 minutes. During the time I was waiting two other people came behind me to wait as well. Room to Improve: 1) Inflexible 4:00PM check-in. They emailed to ask when we'd arrive beforehand; I said 2:00 and would appreciate an early check-in, they said to wait and will text me when room was ready. Actually we had to wait outside in the heat or in the crowded lounge until 4:30PM, no early check-ins for anyone (there were other guests waiting with us). We would have walked into town for lunch had we known this. 2) Free coffee but no included food for breakfast, which is only served in their upstairs restaurant at extra charge. At BC's price point they could have offered a few complementary pastries, as is done at many cheaper venues. 3) The a/c in our room was old, noisy, had no remote and didn't work well. Musty smell in room. 4) Lunch served outside only in all kinds of weather, insufficient umbrellas to provide shade on hot day. (Pls see separate review for their restaurant). All in all our stay at Barons Cove was pretty good, but felt their oldish amenities didn't warrant high room rates plus puzzling "resort fees."

The company booked the rooms, but had I or any of my coworkers had a say, we would've stayed anywhere else. We nicknamed the place Creepy Cabins. Rooms: The rooms are small and cramped. The size of the rooms wouldn't be an issue if the overall experience were better. The rooms that my coworkers and I stayed in had twin sized beds -- given how tiny the rooms are, larger beds wouldn't fit. Some rooms are renovated, some aren't. They have refrigerators (some full sized some mini), microwaves, and either an oven or toaster oven. During my most recent trip, my renovated room smelled of mildew during the entire 4 days we were there. During my trip a couple years ago, the room was filled with bugs, and the toilet didn't flush properly. Some rooms have tall cabinets to hang clothing (in place of closets), some have neither (including my rooms for both of my trips here). There are drawers, however. Each room has a patio with furniture. The state of the patios/furniture varies. Mine was okay this time around. My coworkers had patios with torn screens, which allowed bugs in. Another coworker had a patio with a light but no light switch. So his patio was completely dark. Cleanliness: The rooms aren't the cleanest, but there was no visible dirt in my room. At least two of the towels in my room had black marks on them. One of my coworkers had a towel with an old bloodstain on it. My room/bathroom had no hooks, towel bars, etc. so my roomie and I had to leave our towels hanging over chairs. Not a huge deal but still annoying. There was no housekeeping. So our trash and dirty towels piled up during the trip. Keys: We were only allowed 1 key per room, even though each room had 2-3 people in it. My roomie and I were lucky because we found 2 spare keys and a beach pass in the bedside table drawer. None of our coworkers had multiple keys for their rooms. Some of them were forced to leave their doors unlocked because passing a key back and forth was an impossibility. Others got locked out of their rooms for hours at a time because passing the key between the 2 or 3 of them was too difficult to manage given our differing schedules and the unpredictability of the gig we were on. And, of course, the staff (when we could actually reach them) refused to help anyone who was locked out get into their rooms. Beach Passes: My room was also the only one with a beach pass (though it was assigned to/labeled for a different room). When one of my coworkers went to get the beach pass promised to each of us for booking, the staff was reluctant to hand it over. They insisted he give them his license in return. After some arguing, they handed over the pass, but it's ridiculous that they'd put up such a fight for something promised to guests. Wifi: There is no wifi in the cabins. If you're close to the main house on the property, you get signal, but that's it. It's unacceptable that they don't have wifi, especially given that there is terrible cell reception in the Hamptons and virtually none on the property itself, and that there is no landline in the rooms. Staff: Staff was VERY difficult to get ahold of and get help from. They didn't answer the phone. When we went to the main building for help, staff often either wasn't present or refused to open the door. Other: Our second night there, my coworkers and I arrive to find that the power is off. I'm assuming they have electric pumps onsite because when the power went out, so did the water. There was no one around to tell us what happened, how it happened, or how long the power/water would be out. It was just a waiting game. Eventually we came across a staff person (a groundskeeper perhaps?). When the power came back on, he suggested we blast the AC because there was a chance the power would go out again that night if a storm hit. Luckily it didn't... The signs for the property aren't particularly well-lit (even when he power is on). So it's very easy to drive right by the place if you're trying to get back at night. If the owners and staff put some effort in, this place could be fine. It is a nice concept and could be a fun alternative to standard hotels. It would be so easy to overlook the size of the rooms if they maintained cleanliness, had helpful staff, and included wifi. As they are now, though, I don't think it's worth the visit.
