We sat at around 10:30am and was told the kitchen is closing and we must order immediately. I had to call our 3rd diner who had to order over the phone despite walking in by the time the call was done. The food was good, service intermittent and when a friend spotted us off the street and joined we asked if there was anything we could order. The staff were negative but ultimately we purchased a cup of coffee it was brought in a to-go cup. Not quite the standard you would expect. Then we were brought a bill and told we had to leave as lunch was being set up - despite no one sitting outside or inside. Perhaps it would have been better to have offered for us to sit inside to finish our breakfast but that was that. Summary food good, attitude far less so. Probably my first and likely last American hotel breakfast.

We went to the bar/lounge afterwards and had a few drinks by that fireplace. So nice and relaxing. Staff was always welcoming and all drinks and food were good. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. That's all you can ask for! My only complaint was when we were checking out I wanted to make sure our bill was correct and wanted to speak with someone. With Sunday brunch going on upstairs there was no one at the front desk for almost 15 minutes. During the time I was waiting two other people came behind me to wait as well. The front desk person who came back was quick and friendly to get us checked out but for the price I would think someone would be there at all times? We can't wait to come back to Barons Cove soon!!

Room to Improve: 1) Inflexible 4:00PM check-in. They emailed to ask when we'd arrive beforehand; I said 2:00 and would appreciate an early check-in, they said to wait and will text me when room was ready. Actually we had to wait outside in the heat or in the crowded lounge until 4:30PM, no early check-ins for anyone (there were other guests waiting with us). We would have walked into town for lunch had we known this. 2) Free coffee but no included food for breakfast, which is only served in their upstairs restaurant at extra charge. At BC's price point they could have offered a few complementary pastries, as is done at many cheaper venues. 3) The a/c in our room was old, noisy, had no remote and didn't work well. Musty smell in room. 4) Lunch served outside only in all kinds of weather, insufficient umbrellas to provide shade on hot day. (Pls see separate review for their restaurant). All in all our stay at Barons Cove was pretty good, but felt their oldish amenities didn't warrant high room rates plus puzzling "resort fees."

The hotel is basic, but it works beyond well and truly has everything you need for a great Hamptons getaway: clean and comfortable rooms, excellent service, breakfast, a pool, beach passes, beach chairs and umbrellas. They really make it so easy. Cathy and Karen at the front desk are wonderful and truly as friendly and accommodating as can be. They always make us feel so welcome and cannot do enough for their guests. Wonderful service, a great location, beautiful harbor views and everything you need for an easy, relaxing stay in Sag Harbor. We look forward to coming back every summer!

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had…read more My partner became ill and was unable to join me for dinner. We called the restaurant to either move our reservation to another day or cancel it, and were told that only the manager could assist us. However, we were told the manager was unavailable because he was busy speaking with regulars at a table. I asked if we could simply be placed on hold until he was available so we could find a solution. We were told no. Instead, the employee said they would "leave a note" and that someone would call us back if they were able to help. Meanwhile, we were told that if the reservation was canceled, we would be charged a $135 cancellation fee -- despite the fact that we were actively trying to work with the restaurant to either reschedule or resolve the situation. The experience became even more unacceptable when the employee eventually hung up on us and then stopped answering our calls. The restaurant only answered after American Express contacted them on our behalf. To be clear, I have no issue with a restaurant having a cancellation policy. What I have an issue with is the way this situation was handled: being told the manager was "too busy" to speak with us, being refused the simple courtesy of being placed on hold, having our calls screened, and ultimately being hung up on. That is an embarrassing level of customer service for an establishment of this caliber. I genuinely hope someone in management -- above the person working the restaurant that evening -- takes this seriously and addresses this behavior. A cancellation policy is one thing; treating a customer with this level of disrespect is another.

They accommodated some last minute travel conflicts and helped me make it to my friend wedding in the nick of time! The rooms are perfectly decorated to feel unique and cozy but not overdone. The floor plan is extremely clever because they utilize a slat wall to separate the bathroom area from the room, with the tv mounted flush. This design eliminates wasted space and creates a circular flow to the room which made it feel much more spacious. The rules were lax, in that they let adults be adults as long as they act like adults. The staff was attentive and the amenities in my room were luxurious and some were even complimentary. It's easy to get to the Main Street in town and central to all the best beaches. Great for instagram photos too! Definitely enjoy a stay here and you won't be disappointed.
