Let me preface this 2 star rating with the fact that I am a native Memphian and Tops is my favorite barbecue. I was excited when this Tops opened because it's the closest one to me. And I went there several times and it was good. The staff was courteous and the food tasted great. But then I went a couple of months ago and was in the drive-through and ordered a barbecue plate and the girl asked me what type of sauce I wanted. And I thought to myself "the same type of sauce you've automatically been putting on there for the last 50 years". When I hesitated, she asked me if I wanted mild or hot. So I said mild. And it was not the Tops sauce that I am used to. The next time I went, they didn't ask me so I thought well maybe that was somebody new. And I got home with my barbecue plate that had absolutely no sauce. Fortunately I had purchased a bottle of their sauce and had it in my fridge, but it still doesn't taste the same as when you get it at the store. So now instead of going to the Tops closest to me, I'll go to the one over on Macon. Last time I went there, it was delicious and no one asked me what type of sauce I wanted and yet I got some on my barbecue plate. read more

Came 10 minutes before close and got a jumbo chicken combo ,jumbo pork combo , and cheese fries . this location is the spot to go to before closing my food was hot and fresh and they were very nice ! Shout out to tops stage!!! read more

The Bartlett location is straight trash. Not accurate and not friendly. Buyer beware. You have been warned.

Delicious, but I knew it was going to be when I opened the door and smelled the cooking aromas. I had the sampler plate with ribs (perfect), brisket, and pulled pork shoulder. The Cole slaw was tangy, and I had t have a hot apple tart to finish off. It was all very good. We will definitely be back! read more

"Tried" them again maybe for the third time and once again the food was not good. This time I got the regular bbq pulled pork sandwich combo with coleslaw and bbq beans. The food was bland and had no taste. I am not sure who's in charge there. The customer service was not the greatest. Just hiring anybody. We have been told how good the hamburgers are here. I will admit they were decent. My biggest complaint is with the buns. Mine and my wifes burger buns were dry and crumbly. The burgers could have been really good if it wasn't for the buns. I got a side of baked beans and they were really good. They had pieces of brisket in them. read more

Right in the middle of the order the phone rings and the employee immediately ignores the customer, answers the phone, takes the order. I'm standing there and she completely ignores me. Dec., 31st at approximately 2:45pm, my grandson and I went to the Bartlett location on Stage Rd, serviced through the drive thru. On our way to my mom's house my grandson son said grandma there is a finger nail in my fry bag. He ordered the jumbo pulled pork sandwich, no slaw double fries and a sprite to drink ticket #157, I was shocked and in disbelief so I pulled the truck over and yes it was a pressed on fake finger nail in the fry bag, that meant that the employees were fixing and preparing food with their bare hands, we both were totally disgusted. Haven't been to tops in a few years and decided to stop and get a cheeseburger combo earlier today . It was the BEST burger I've had in a while along with the sides. So juicy and cooked to perfection and also fresh. I saw someone with blue dreads on the grill . I'm coming back more often and I hope that person is preparing my burger again read more

This is at least our third time to eat at this location and I can tell you that the bbq was tasty but they made no attempt to sort fat and tough bark that I was inedible out of any of the meals we purchased. We had three different types of orders including a pound of pulled pork. If I had been dining in I would have complained and sent it back. We went through the drive through and after spending twenty minutes in line it was a real disappointment. I don't think we will be going back. The service was horrible. I waited around for about 5 minutes as I stood in front of the register and 2 employees just paid me no mind. The rack of ribs was dried out. The table was dirty and I had to request it wiped down. Nobody was apparently cleaning nobody was in charge of the dining room. The place was not busy inside. I stopped by around 1630-1700 ish. I know Memphis is noon for barbecue and I wanted to get experience with my dad during this road trip. The only good thing I could say was the grape Kool-Aid. Also they serve your sauce in a bag. Waited in a very long line for some incredibly bad food. Topps has switched to a different slaw that is awful. The buns fall apart. The fries were too salty and I love salt! My daughter's nachos weren't good either. For this to be a brand new place, it was a big disappointment. I'll never go back. read more

I come to eat a fire-braised chicken sandwich, fries & an apple turnover with a sweet tea every single night with my husband. The whole crew always greets me as if I am a part of their little family. The night managers Stacy and Josey always make sure our order is correct, hot, & fast. They all deliver service with a smile. I went through the drive through today and the young lady was not friendly taking my order first off. Secondly I originally ordered the brisket sandwich and was told they were out of brisket which was no problem so I ordered a rib sandwich. I paid for my meal and again the same lady that took my order was not friendly. In the service industry this should be a number one standard of practice. When I got home to enjoy my rib sandwich I'm very glad I didn't take an aggressive bite because my ribs were still on the bone. I couldn't believe it and luckily didn't break my teeth. I came inside to eat today. I had a regular pork sandwich combo. It was the skinniest bbq sandwich I've ever had. They had several workers not doing much. I placed my own order. The phone rang off the wall and nobody answered it. Looking around it is the dirtiest place. Floors are filthy as well as table bases. Windows dirty. Flies everywhere. Tops has elevated their prices to match (and in some cases exceed) the elite, yet they've done nothing to elevate the product (all encompassing) to reach that standard. Tops was always known for good value, no frills. That was their niche. That was the market share they were after. Now, who knows? They've become the worst value available. She was incredibly rude to me over the speaker when I tried clarifying that I wanted a single cheeseburger, not a double. I have been to tops bbq several times and every time they do not get my order right! I wasn't the only one because several people said the same thing that their order was wrong. Why is this? and the drive through is so dang slow- what gives- Get some better workers or something. Very frustrating because I really like the food. At this location I found out today that if they can get it wrong they will. Ordered a cheeseburger with mustard pickle and onion. Girl who looked about 12 punched it into the register and said "Cheeseburger mayonnaise pickle and onion." I corrected her and she supposedly corrected it. I also ordered a jumbo bbq with extra sauce on the side. Usually that means sauce on the bbq and a little plastic cup of sauce along with it I should have checked my receipt-- and my food-- before I left. The receipt said "ketchup pickle and onion." I was afraid to look at the burger when I got home. It's in the fridge for tomorrow night. I'm afraid instead of the ketchup I didnt order it will have tartar sauce on it. If the receipt is right, she couldnt even punch it in right on the second try. The bbq not only had no extra sauce, it had NO sauce. None. And it also had no slaw. None. But it did have two large pieces of fat that a blind man could have seen. The girl who took the order either can't read or can't hit the right button on the register. The cook? Who serves a bbq without sauce at all, with large pieces of fat in it? I went mainly for the cheeseburger. Brad's is a mile away. Never had a problem there, with the service or the great bbq. Goodbye Tops. BTW, this was at 4 in the afternoon. Tops BarB-Q use to be one of my favorite Bar-B-Q restaurants around. However the Tops in Bartlett has me looking into other alternatives. There are four Bar-B-Q restaurants near me in Bartlett and I favor Fat Larry's above all of them and Tops drags in in last place. The food has went down hill steadily since they open. The service is bad and your lucky to get the right food when going through drive-thru. The employees almost seem to have an attitude when you request addition sauce or ask for some thing they were suppose to give you in the first place. The drive-thru use to have long lines but there isn't any lines any more. I think it speaks to the quality of the food and service that you get currently there. I have asked for slaw on my sandwich multiple times lately and got home with no slaw. The last sandwich had a few french fries in the pork when I removed the bun to add sauce. It makes me never want to go back. I have called and complained the management but they don't care just make excuse. And on top of that they are charging more and giving smaller portions. If the is the service and product that they are now servicing then they might find themselves without customers. read more

Placed an order for the fireman sandwich with just meat and slaw. It came with everything no big deal, carried it back to be corrected. They were short staffed so I waited, at about 20 min I ask to check on it. The lady and the cooks started arguing and he threatened to walk out. They begged him to stay, another 15 minutes passed and I ask again about the remake. A guy came out from the back and said he refunded my card. I ask about my lunch I were they out of it? His response was he was from another store and he couldn't deal with this crap. I took the receipt and left. In the 45 minutes I was in the lobby 12 people came in waited and walked out. The drive thru person hollered "Cheap ass ho" at someone leaving the window. What a great place to go. Wow ! The bbq here was spot on. Every time I eat here the product has been consistent.The service was great and my orders have always been correct. I don't have to go double check anything. If you are around this location and have a taste for great food i highly recommend it. read more
