Food was really good especially the Brussels sprouts. We sat outside which was pleasant except for the children down about 3 or 4 tables away. They were running around a lot. These are not toddlers but looked to be around 7 and 10. Not the restaurant's fault but when I got up at the end of our meal, I found the restroom, and shortly after locking the door, the two kids tried to open it. I told them "No" the then ran to their mother who was inside paying her bill and told her It's locked! I don't know what she responded to them but they came back to my door doing the same thing. They have a lovely rooftop bar that allows you to watch the ferry boats drift in and out of the dock, parking below the restaurant (drive your mini coopers! Excellent view of Puget Sound in a nice quaint part of town. The atmosphere was great, excellent service and the food was amazing. This is my second visit here (one year apart) and the experience has been consistent. They offered us military discount. The beer looks good I wanted to return here off-duty to taste the local brew. Hostess was great. Waitress was good but when she brought my beer it was warm and had been sitting at the bar for a while. I paid for a full beer but only got 1/2 a beer. 16$ gets you two small halibut tacos and for 2$ more you can order shoe string rosemary fries but you can't dip your ketchup in it because it's watery no matter what you do. On hot days maybe refrigerated the ketchup and bring it out if people order fries. ‍ When we got to the car I poured my sons water he had got inside into his sippy cup and out came a black hair from the restaurant cup. read more

My family had dinner here and we were disappointed. The dining area is small and congested. Which isn't an huge issue. The food was horrible and the cooks were extremely dirty. The bar tender constantly played in his hair and picked his face. One of the servers went from the dining area to the rest room in her disposable gloves and came out with the gloves on, you can literally see everything because the restaurant is so small. The food was horrible, the only thing that we were satisfied with was the bottled bud light beer. I had the Chinese five spice chicken, my husband had steak and potatoes and my son had a teriyaki chicken bowl. Trust me, do not waste your money on the food. The food was a complete waste of $90. Our server was very nice, she was the most normal thing about our experience, I'm happy we didn't get the servicer with the disposable dirty gloves. read more

Dry chicken, noodles and tasteless cheese sauce. We had to add salt from the table. Teriyaki bowl (highly recommend by server) - rice, chicken, pre-packaged sauce. Fish tacos, Mediterranean wrap, etc.... Cheap canned ingredients tossed together. Lacked any chef insight. Waitstaff we're not attentive despite it not being busy. Food, drinks, staff and view are spectacular. We forget about this gem in Steilacoom and finally remembered it was here. The staff is accommodating and I thought went the extra mile. We all had different meals and we all enjoyed them to the last bite. Beer selection is solid with a lot of the locals on tap. No Coke or Pepsi, they do Seattle Soda which what I'm told was good but sugary. Great location with nice views of the Puget Sound when you sit out in the balcony. Couldn't get pics during my work lunch inside. They have burger Monday specials for $2 dollars off the burgers. This is my least favorite place in Steilicom. I Got here with family and waited while a dozen of different guests got seated first though they came last. When I asked the hostess she said they called but I was standing nearby and only 1 or two customers actually called. She then said I requested a boot. Which wasn't true. Just lied AGAIN. I'll start off by saying that both the service and the view at Topside are pretty much unparalleled in the South Tacoma area. The food, however, is pretty easily matched and surpassed. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You've got some of the friendliest staff here at Topside and a truly staggering view of the surrounding area. They couldn't have been more accommodating of my one year old niece, and everything was well taken care of start to finish. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $13.00 will get you a medium sized standard burger here at Topside, which isn't unreasonable. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? So the food at Topside isn't great - plain and simple. Our burger was essentially bland with what was clearly a frozen patty, our salad was weak with chicken that was essentially just sliced cold fried chicken fingers, and even the sweet potato tots were questionable. I had the 1/3 lb bacon burger. It was cooked perfectly and the bacon was real good. My wife and daughter shared the pulled pork nachos. It was packed with lots of pork with tasty cheese, avocado creme, jalapeños. The serving was huge. It like the burger was excellent. Next time I'll order the fish n chips as it looked awesome. Had a great experience at Topside B&G on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The waterfront view from the deck can't be beat. The salmon meal was very tasty and service is top notch. We did have to wait about 45 minutes for a table but walking around the small town of Steilacoom takes you back to a simpler time. read more

We frequent Topside regularly and love it. This was our first time going for breakfast. It was very busy and we were so impressed! We sat at a table near the kitchen and were so impressed with the chefs/kitchen crew! They should have been so completely overwhelmed as people just kept coming in like crazy but they all worked so well together and worked so hard! Servers, bartenders, runners, kitchen staff, everyone impressed us so much! The owners are so hands on and have built such a great team, great job to everyone! I've been going to Topside for years now. It's a fantastic restaurant with typically phenomenal service! And the view! You can't beat it. However, the last few times I've eaten there I've been somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I understand with COVID things are inevitably going to be different! But the food seems to have gotten much less flavorful and with less effort. I LOVE their lemon steamer clams but they've been very watered down, with tons of just empty shells. Even their Caesar salad seems just lazily thrown together, no house made croutons anymore, the dressing is smoky now? Maybe just not my taste. Plus my pasta and my partners clam chowder were barely luke warm when we received them. Either way, still a four star for sure and I'll be returning. First time here, was visiting a friend who lives in the area and she recommended this place for dinner. Sat in the bar, got there a little early but place filled up quick! They have a huge patio which I'm sure is great for summer, the place is small but good service, reasonable prices and good food. Ordered a blackened salmon Caesar (it wasn't the best I've ever had which is why I did 4 stars not 5). Great selection of beer on tap! Ordered the elemental cider which was delicious. I look forward to coming back in summer and trying another menu item. This is a great place for a date night or family night out, very kid friendly and they even have a huge barrel filled with candy on the way out which I thought was cool. read more

They have a rotational beer list and full bar. We also tried the crab dip appetizer and I strongly recommend that choice. Every now and then, I get blown away by the hospitality of a restaurant- and Topside Bar and Grill is one of them. Traveling some distance, headed to Topside as my final destination, I noticed as I was walking up the stairs, the place is completely dark and appeared to be closed. As I made my way up to the second level, I noticed their coffee shop was full of people but it appeared to be a private event. I stepped in and was greeted by John (who happened to be owner) and he asked was I looking to eat at Topside? I said "yes" and he apologized and shared that the restaurant was closed because they were having a company party. I was sadden by this news, but completely understood, so I turned around and begin to walk out of the door. John then asked, "Hey man, are you hungry," I replied "very much so" and then he did the unthinkable. He invited me to eat with his staff and introduced me to his crew in a spirit of generosity and good cheer! I'm sold forever on this place!! read more

The Sami was really good, moist flavorful meat and good all around flavor! The fish and chips were a single filet deep fried perfectly imo! The tartar was not bad, but the crunch on the fish and taste was were it was at! We will be back to try other offerings and next time probably have an adult beverage! read more
