We decided to check out the Hideaway with a small group of friends. They recently updated the menu which we had to try out. The new variety of items on the menu made it hard for us to decide. This time we were trying out the lunch/dinner menu vs. the breakfast. They have also introduced a Winter Menu. Great concept being small and easy to make a quick choice. Food was excellent! I thought it would be mediocre being a pub as I've had in the past. Service was top notch and friendly. Atmosphere was very welcoming they were having bingo night. Listening to music and playing on our phones. My family won 4 games of the 6th while we were there. They gave out prizes a snack box won by my youngest 25$ off by my youngest and 15% off from my middle son and 15% off by my Daughternlaw. read more

The big mistake they made was having a chalk board sign stating, "domestic drafts $2", but charged me the full price for a $7 Rainier. When I asked about the sign, she looked at it and pondered that shrugged it off with, "Oh that? That was for yesterday ". "But it is still up today". She just stared at me. What a fun place to meet up with some old and new friends!! This is a bit out of my way, it man do I love this area! I called up an old buddy of mine, and he offered to meet up with him and his buddies that meet regularly on weekends for drinks and food. I was finally able to make it out after all these years of offering, and man I'm glad I did. The food was great! The drinks kept pouring and man they were damn damn good!! Some of the folks pooled in their monies for some pull tabs, and maybe it's my zero luck vibes that left them all bitter faced, but luckily for me they just blamed my buddy . The banter back and forth at the table was hilarious, and then the reminiscing was nostalgic for some... but the fun and lively banter back and forth with our server and the owner of the place made it that much more of an enjoyable experience. A bunch of regulars messing and flirting with each other. It felt like a family breakfast. I didn't want to be "that guy" who snaps a bunch of pics of food in front of the guys... so unfortunately, no pics to share with y'all... but I will say this. Burger great and we always order the chicken wings and they are big juicy and delicious. Yesterday I do believe we were give 4 or 5 left over chicken wings from the day before. When u pay $17.00 for 12 chicken wings one would think they would all be edible. Nope not tonight - gross. I took a bite if one and it was so dry that the bite literally fumbled in my mouth that I spit out in my hand and put into a napkin. Service Ok drowning in who is working. VERY pricey for food beers and spirits that I would rather just cook and eat and drink at home. Taking a break from this place for a while. A decade ago, I passed this place on my way to a Mexican restaurant up the road. I told myself, at some point I would return, because it just struck me as the kind of roadside inn that had good food. I was disappointed this place didn't have a website, so the menu and prices were a mystery until we arrived. I don't think any business is serious if they don't have a website. These days, you can run and manage a website yourself, and if you don't have the time or inclination hire a high school or college student. It puts a piece in their portfolio, gets them credit and chances are you can get the labor for free. 2 women were working. Both were friendly, service was a bit slow, but polite. This place had potential, but the food was the problem. I had Chicken Strips, Fries and a single taco. The taco was light on flavor, it either needed more taco seasoning or more salt. It wasn't terrible, but it could have been a lot better. The chicken strips were good, again, I think the brine could have been better. The real problem was the fries. There were cold and undercooked. Had the fries been hot and crisp, this could be a 4-star joint. The sauces were amazing! Recent reviews paint a picture of a place that was once great, but has been less than consistent. Since this place is country, they may not be familiar with the song lyric, but SOS Band said it best when they said, "Baby we can do it, take your time, do it right". Recently had two takeout Dirty Burgers, which they're known for, that were 8 bucks, add tater tots 3 bucks!, add a 2 buck takeout charge for each order for a total of 4 bucks. 28 dollars for two burgers and tots!!! My buddy and I had lunch here and grabbed a few beers. The place is well lit, clean, and for only having one server; it's efficient. I ordered the French dip and it was delicious. Plenty of meat, Swiss cheese, and a soft sturdy roll that stood up to the abuse of the au jus. Great onion rings too! My buddy loved his French dip and commented that the fries were excellent. Had a dirty burger and tater tots with nacho cheese and bacon. The burger was a good deal and tasty. The tots were loaded with nacho cheese and good tasting bacon. My friend had a mushroom Swiss burger that she felt was overcooked but still tasted good. She also order the onion rings which were really good, nice crunchy batter and onions were easy to bite through. Horrible service, and so-so food. We have friends that invited us to this place to try the "Dirty Burger" and it was....OK. I've had much better. And it became clear even after giving them a few chances (everybody has a bad night on occasion) that the bartenders simply don't pay attention to anybody who isn't the regular crowd that comes in. In an empty bar, I shouldn't have to spend all night desperately trying to get the attention of the waitress who stands behind the counter BSing with the other staff while customers are waiting to be helped. Food is servicable, not horrible, but nothing to write home about, and for the same price, there are many other options in Spanaway, just a little ways up the road, that have much better service and better food. Unless you like the atmosphere of almost total darkness and being ignored by the staff, just keep driving by this place. read more

Went there for lunch today, same story as every other time I've gone. 1 horrible service, more concerned about friends than actual paying guest. Instead of throwing food down and walking away to BS with friends.......AT LEAST OFFER KETCHUP IF SAID PERSON HAS FRIES! This is at least a 101 class of hospitality and service. 2 Another tip for your daytime bartender, we all have bad days....hers seem to run in unison...learn how to fake being social, her hourly rate (tips) would more than likely reflect. 3 The gentleman that sits at the bar and does orders for the kitchen.....more personable than you front of the house staff. If it was an option I would give zero stars! The manager is very rude!!! It's the worst service I've ever had! We went for my son-in-law's 21st birthday and everybody was served dinner except him. When We asked her several times what was happening with his food she barely acknowledged us and gave mass attitude! After an hour and a half we canceled his order and she still barely acknowledged us. I was explaining to her that he didn't get his dinner and when I pointed at him she swatted at my hand. While the rest of us were eating she never came to the table to see if we wanted more drinks, water or any condiments. I tried to talk to another waitress and she said that they were shorthanded but that woman serving us was the manager so there was nothing she could do about it. I didn't mind the wait since they were shorthanded it was the bad service and the snobby attitude that was so frustrating! I explained it was his 21st and he needed food before drinking and she just shrugged and walked away. When we were leaving we found out they had run out of fish and chips long before he ever ordered but they didn't say anything. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone! We've been coming to this place regularly after work for happy hour. I'm not sure why we continue to support a place with terrible customer service; but our loyalty to this place ended tonight. Just to name a few of the problems: 1. It seems to take forever to get noticed even when the place isn't that busy. The staff seems to spend more time chatting with each other then doing their jobs. 2. Even though there is never a reserved sign on a table, we are frequently asked to move because "someone is coming in for their reserved table". 3. The "regulars who get special attention" are rude to other customers and enjoy creating conflict with name calling. Seriously! Are we 12 years old? I love how part of peoples review is bagging previous owners that you know nothing about. Lee was owned by a single Asian woman who did the best she could to keep a place out in practically the middle of no where going on her own with constant break ins. The locals loved her. This place is okay. In the middle of being neither bad nor good. It has decent food, good drink selection, okay prices. They didn't "redo" the entire bar but added a bunch of TVs and upgraded the atmosphere slightly (especially outside smoking area- looks fantastic). Every time we've gone in there (about 5-6x ) you can tell who is friends with the owners/their family/the bartenders and whose not. Theres always a few people who get the bartenders full attention and hang out up front while the rest of us feel like we are interrupting a reunion. That being said, its a great bar for its location. It is a bit out there but its neither too clubby, too uptight, too expensive or too run down. A great in the middle bar! Glad its here. read more

Very good food, good selection of beer and decent service, the new owners of this place has really turned this place around since it was Lee's Tavern! Lees was a dumpy Tavern that was dark inside, and horrible selection of beer (Plus they were closed odd times, like once during the Superbowl!)
