Stopped by Topside Coffee Cabin on my way to Anderson Island and enjoyed my time at this little cozy coffee shop. I ordered the Salty Sailor and got my drink in 5 minutes. Although funny, literally the drink wasnt salty as the drink titles itself. It tasted of sea salt caramel, a bit sweet but smoky. I cozied myself up on one of the tables seated by the view of Steilacoom. People nearby were on their laptops studying and working. Others stopped by to cozy up in their booths to talk and enjoy their coffee as they too waited for their ferry to arrive. The vibe was great. Overall, I will come back here again when im near the area. Felt comfortable, welcomed, and it wasnt overly packed. read more

Coffee, pastries, and service are all ALWAYS excellent here. I have yet to have an experience where any of those 3 aspects have been off. There's not a ton of indoor seating and the ordering area is somewhat congested but they are doing the best they can with a small space. There is one larger table if you had a bigger group! They have an in-house baker and you can watch her do her magic from a bar top table. read more

Coffee is decent and the treats and food are as well. Ambiance is inviting but the flys are pretty bad. I've eaten the food before but I don't anymore, all the flys make you not want to eat any of the food items when you see the flys landing on everything. Cutest little coffee shop in Steilacoom. Note - street parking is key! I was here on a weekday and was shocked at how packed the parking lot next to Topside was... Also, it's a cash paid lot. Those still exist? I came here to grab a coffee and get some work done. Baristas were super nice. It was pretty busy so it took a little while for my coffee to come out, but I didn't mind. I got one of their speciality drinks called the "Anchors Away" which is an Irish cream and vanilla bean latte. It was delicious! The Irish cream flavor definitely pulls through more, even with me adding an extra shot of espresso. They have pretty ample seating, with a few smaller tables and one large on in the main room. There's a back room with bar seating overlooking the bakery, and window seating. The wifi is quick and there's plenty of outlets throughout their space which is a bonus for remote workers like myself. All in all, a great spot to work and get some things done! read more

The BEST local bakery with tons of bakery choices. The best i recommend are: Pumpkin scones and muffins. Raspberry scones and berry bars are delicious. This place is straight out of a nautical fairy tale! There is a good amount of places to sit and every inch of this cabin is charmingly decorated. The staff ranging from the baristas to the bakers are super friendly and love flashing smiles on their faces. The coffee menu is pretty extensive and they made me one of the best cappuccinos I ever had. Their ceramic mugs are totally instagram worthy and they serve their mugs along side what looks to be homemade sugar cubes.. too cute! This past weekend, we came during a period of time where they allowed you to decorate Easter themed sugar cookies for a few hours. It was fun and everything from the icing to the cookies were freshly prepared onsite. The baker that led the event was really nice and patient with all the kids that made a mess during their creative sessions. I would love to come here again. It really seems like an institution in the neighborhood of Steilacomm. read more

Their pastries are made in house, they all distribute pastries to other local businesses and coffee shops. Small place, so come early id you are looking to snag a seat inside. I don't come through Steilacoom often, but when I do I often make a point to stop here. Good coffee, fresh baked goods, and a friendly and charming atmosphere. The last time I visited, I was distracted with a toddler under my care and a candle I purchased was left behind. I didn't realize it until I was home, a solid 4 hours away. I reached out asking for a refund, and they offered that or to ship it to me. I received it in a package, tidily wrapped, with a kind note. Truly outstanding customer service, the kind you don't see very often these days. I recommend supporting this lovely small business. read more

Coffee is a little bit expensive, but the specialty drinks are consistent, and the regular coffee is just fine. The baked goods though...sweet baby jeebus. I would stab you, right now, zero hesitation for one of their fruit bars. I'm not saying murder. They aren't quite life in prison good. But I'll catch an assault charge and feel okay about it. Staff turnover is as expected but everyone is very nice regardless of time working there. And I like their little coffee board where you can prepay a coffee for someone and they pit the name up so they know there's a freebie waiting. Besides the coziness of the shop and the warm feeling that is shared with each cup of coffee served Topside Coffee Cabin offers many homemade baked goods fresh out of the oven. Patrons (regulars) enjoy a nice cup of coffee while sitting to take a break from life to catch up with one another. We went in to enjoy the warm and welcoming feeling and to get a delicious cup of Americano for our drive to Oregon. We signed up for their Topside Coffee Cabin Club and was immediately given a delicious homemade coffee, (which didn't last long on our drive). The coffee cabin is a sweet little spot to meet friends for a chat. It is a local Steilacoom favorite. They have themed drinks based on the season that are very creative. The staff is very friendly. My favorite food/drink to get is the bacon omelette breakfast sandwich with a spiced chai tea. They also have cute seasonal gifts and Steilly garb to rep the area. It can be considered a bit spendy but it is a local business with good service so it is worth the money. Some of the baked goods also are a little salty but most is pretty decent. read more

Long lines, pretty loud for a coffee place, lots of spots to work if you don't mind the noise, and lovely outdoor seating. The capers panini was good but nothing special and is served with Tim's potato chips which I don't know how but tasted a little on the stale side. Maybe it's just the way the brand tastes. There was more tomato than mozzarella in the panini which is very disappointing. A big plus for the atmosphere and feel of the place. My hot chocolate didn't have much syrup. I tasted more of the hemp milk than anything. Overall it's a good spot for the neighborhood but wouldn't be able to compete with other places in Tacoma or Olympia areas if they were placed elsewhere. I'd stop by again if I was in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of the way for it. read more

This place was cute. It was just the kind of place I wanted to go to have a snack after hanging out at sunny side beach. I'm a big fan of quiche so it was nice to see that on the menu. I ordered the roasted tomato and spinach. It wasn't bad, the seasonings weren't what I was expecting but I still ate most of it. When I was ordering my coffee I thought by describing the idea I wanted they could make it. I wanted something sweet with hazelnut and coffee flavor. It wasn't sweet at all but I made it work with sugar. My son got chocolate milk and he drank it all. And the blueberry muffins were really good. We shared that. Stopped by Topside Coffee Cabin on my way through town with my kids. The reason I made the decision was due to the highly recommended reviews. However, once I went inside I stood at the counter for quite some time before even being acknowledged by an employee. Then I ordered our drinks and not only were childrens drinks part of their menu, but I kept having to repeat my order to the barista many times. It took again, quite some time for the barista to get through the order and then once I did get the drinks, my coffee was completely incorrect and my childrens hot chocolates barely had any flavor outside of the steamed milk. So not only did I have to pay regular price for their hot chocolates, which was okay, until I received them and they would not even drink them due to the nature in which we received them. The barista that was working was less than friendly and the coffee was not worth the time or the money. It was a bummer of an experience. read more

My friend and I visit a coffee shop weekly and have named it the World Coffee Tour. We've made it to four counties so far. Topside Coffee Cabin is my favorite of twenty. My latte was perfect, and freshly baked goodies are available. My choice was a yummy raspberry scone. The shop is located in historic Steilacoom. The downstairs seating is cozy and comfortable, and the upstairs offers amazing views. The baristas were friendly and gracious. This will be a repeat coffee shop, for sure! read more
