My friend and I visit a coffee shop weekly and have named it the World Coffee Tour. We've made it to four counties so far. Topside Coffee Cabin is my favorite of twenty. My latte was perfect, and freshly baked goodies are available. My choice was a yummy raspberry scone. The shop is located in historic Steilacoom. The downstairs seating is cozy and comfortable, and the upstairs offers amazing views. The baristas were friendly and gracious. This will be a repeat coffee shop, for sure! read more

Great local coffee shop, I enjoyed the warm cozy atmosphere inside and the Christmas decorations. Friendly service and good quality of coffee. Such a cute spot located super close to my work for a coffee break. I typically like specialty coffee shops with house made syrups if I'm adding anything to my drinks but this place was still great. Had a rustic vibe to it, that I'm not really into when I'm seeking out coffee shops. I'm a millennial seeking out trendy coffee shops with great coffee and though this isn't trendy or modern it still was great. I've visited this shop a few times and for a local, upscale café, I expected friendlier service. The owners aren't so welcoming, never acknowledged me or my company during the times that we were there and it was just us. The barista pointed out who the owners were, so we knew it was them. I noticed when others did come in, they gave them a warm welcome. Maybe it's my skin color and slanted eyes. Never again! I know where I'm not welcomed. read more

I was on my way to University Place and I knew I had a coffee shop in Steilacoom that I have been meaning to try so I made a bit of a detour this past weekend and headed out to Topside Coffee Cabin to give them a try. Like many of the restaurants and drinking establishments in this quaint little town it has a intimate atmosphere with the other patrons... "townies" as it were and everybody seems to know everybody and you may get a stare or two by some if you are not recognizable. The location of the Topside Coffee Cabin is pretty cool actually. There is a large area where you can sit and enjoy your coffee drink and snack but the place was busy when I was here and seating wasn't as generous as it looked but wasn't really all that difficult. I ordered a London Fog drink. They were out of the Earl Grey tea that normally goes with it but had a chai used in it;s place that was suggested by the cashier and the drink proved to be very enjoyable despite the substitution. Their baked goods are amazing! It's almost always essential that I get a baked item when out at the coffee shops and at the Coffee Cabin I got a slice of banana bread that was warmed and it was so good! It appears that they make most of their baked goods on sight. The baristas were very friendly and as I left it was very easy to do our exchange of "thank yous" despite how busy they were which was very nice and refreshing. read more

I have now been here a number of occasions. The first few times were great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Drinks and food were great. The last time I was there the staff was very rude. There were three people behind the espresso bar and all of them did not want to help us, rolled their eyes when we asked a question and just seemed put out that people were even there to begin with. I will definitely go back again to see if it was just an off day. I live in the area and walk around here frequently so I'd love to keep giving them my money. read more

I want to like this place, I really do. The baristas are kind, polite, and helpful. The drinks, especially their London Fog, are great. Unfortunately, I go to coffeeshops to work, and this is one of the worst places to do that. Bright light comes in from the windows from all sides, and the glare usually makes it impossible to see my screens, and gives me a headache. They have no curtains or shades. What's worse though, is the noise. It's deafening. Every time we come there, no matter time or day of week, people are screaming, cackling, the owner and baristas yell to each other like they're trying to talk over a hurricane. New hires and patrons alike all greet each other as if they were coming to a wedding, a frat party, or a family reunion where no one has seen each other in thirty years. Meanwhile, a very old man somehow sits slumped over in a puffy chair with a bit of drool descending from his lip. His respite seems so profound I'm tempted to check his pulse. I'm green with envy. Doors constantly slam both inside and out. I sit there waiting for a 2 minute lull that never comes, and feel like I'm in a bad sitcom. I hate that I feel this way. I don't want to spoil anyone's fun, and it's not like it's their job to give me a quiet place to work. It's just maddening because it seems impossible to find anywhere I can concentrate, sip a caffeinated beverage, and experience peace. I'm a writer, and I'm losing my sanity. read more

I think this might be one of my top three favorite coffee shops ever!! The only downside is they're only open until 3:00 most days. The coffee is so daggum good, the ladies working are the sweetest ever, their pastries are delicious, and the view from the coffee shop is amazing. I drive 25 minutes from parkland just to get my iced soy vanilla lavender latte & berry crumb bar. It is my favorite little get away to go here and then walk down to the park or drive to the beach. Y'all, this place is to DIE for. They have ice cream from Ice Cream Social (another place you should check out), which makes the kids happy. They make affogato there (espresso poured over ice cream) which makes ME happy. The coffee is amazing, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. If the constant stream of customers in and out is any indication, this place is a big hit with the locals... and I can see why! Do yourself a favour and check it out. Extremely friendly service and an awesome variety of IN HOUSE baked goods are the highlight of this spot! It was my first visit and the barista was very helpful and took the time to introduce the menu items. My husband and I had a hard time deciding on what to eat but ended up getting the breakfast sandwich, quiche, and a slice of coffee cake to go. Such a great find. I was in the Seattle area visiting and needed a spot to do some work and get some great coffee. I was super excited to see how close they are to the waters, they have a nice view from the cafe. I had their blueberry lemon scone and it was excellent, truly enjoyed this biscuit. So moist and yummy. Service was also excellent. They share a hallway with a spa so the next time I go I may just make an appointment to get a massage and then sit in the cafe and enjoy another scone. We stopped here based upon other reviews, maybe we just hit an off day? The person at the register seemed new, but was putting their hands inside the cups to write on them or move them . There were only two people working and they seemed very overwhelmed so I had a lot of empathy. Overall though, tension was in the air and the barista was pretty short. The coffee was burnt and my iced mocha with extra ice tasted like a cup of milk with burnt espresso shots. It was $7 and I drank two sips. The quiche I got was overdone, dry and spongy but also slimy on the outside. I didn't eat this either. My husbands croissant sandwich was smashed down to fit chips in the box. My son loved his blueberry muffin. Overall, we spent $40+ tip and enjoyed a blueberry muffin. Can't recommend. The place seems like it has a lot of potential, so maybe it was just an off day. Super cute coffee spot. I'm a coffee addict from NorCal and have spent a majority of my time in coffee shops so I was dying to check this one out. Steilacoom downtown is an awesome little town with gorgeous views and super nice people so the entire vibe around the coffee shop is amazing. Topside is also on a hill so you get the awesome downtown view of the place with ferry's and the river right outside the window. The place is super clean, super nice baristas and you know the coffee is gonna he super good if the espresso machine is a Marzocco so yes the lattes are amazing and now that I live less than 5 miles away, it's my spot. read more

I have been here several times really quaint little coffee shop. They have become a victim of their own success. Expect a 20 minute wait, one Barista, one Cashier. After awhile the Barista loses her mind and starts going out of line on who ordered first. Example I waited over 20 minutes yesterday watching this process painfully when a cute lady orders what the Barista just made and she received her drink in the meantime the lady that had ordered it 20 minutes before says "Hey that should be my drink" Barista " Sorry mistakes happen". Maybe I will try this place again when Yelp reviewers claim they have more than one Barista making coffee. For now I'm done with these long lines to get an average coffee drink. read more

I went to this coffee shop in the morning with a friends and i absolutely fell in love. It's cute, small, cozy, and very welcoming. I love how the coffee shop is decorated and usually there's quiet of lot of people there, when I went there. The view is just beautiful over there.
