Came here for brunch over the weekend and it was fabulous! The food was tasty, most of us ordered fish and chips, we also got traditional breakfast, eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy! Everything was tasty, affordable and with incredible views. It sweeps down across the golf course and down the Sound. The pricing felt very reasonable for the view, the inside was a bit dated but it's beautiful on the patio on a nice day! Our server was very nice and accommodating. After a wonderful walk on the trail around the golf course we decided to stop by the restaurant for a cold beer. The outside patio was completely empty of patrons we chose a table and settled in to enjoy our beer and the view. Shortly after, we were told to relocate to the lower level if we weren't going to order food. The request felt extremely judgmental assuming we weren't spending enough money to sit on the upper level. The request was followed with a snide remark which made us feel even less welcome. The Grill has one of the most beautiful views but..... that is where the accolades stop. The grilled salmon was so overcooked and dry, that it could not eaten. The other person ate a little but she was also very hungry but still could not eat very much. And this is the 2nd trip to this restaurant and they are consistently bad. If I was to guess, the cook just does not seem to care about he or she's quality of work. And when you think about it, who is responsible for ensuring the product being used is fresh and up to date? Who is responible for the cleanliness of the cooking area? And this will sound hard to believe but there is a friend who has been there 5 times, twice for business occasions so they had no choice vut to go and it was bad all 5 times. All 5 times. I'm not even sure how that is possible and then, still stay in business. But the Grill is also part of one the highest rated golf courses in Washington State. If it was not for that, this restaurant would be out of business. This restaurant really needs to take ownership of what they are providing to the public. read more

Came to this restaurant with friends to have some drinks and appetizers on a Labor Day afternoon. We arrived at the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess who was less than friendly (meaning that it appeared she would rather be somewhere else than here). however, we were seated shortly after. After a short time, the server came to out table and took out drink orders. I chose the Bloody Mary first and then the Margarita after. The bloody Mary had an awesome piece of bacon and two olives. The drink however was weak in the vodka department. I wasn't impressed with the drink at all. The margarita was actually better and was served in a clay glass. This was really nice because it kept the margarita cold and the ice did not melt fast like it does in a glass. I definitely have to get a set of the clay glasses for home. The appetizers we ordered were the flatbread, some calamari, fried pickle spears, and some peach and cold cut stuff on bread (I don't remember what it was called). The fried pickle spears were great! The other stuff were not impressive at all (for me). The only way I can explain my dissatisfaction is that they. Could be great appetizers, but in their attempt to be fancy, they added something that just ruined the flavor of the dish. I've been here before for lunch in the past and had the burger, and it was okay, but nothing to rave about. My second visit here was my attempt to give it a second chance. The view from the outdoor seating is spectacular. The Puget Sound and the treeless golf course makes it a great place to watch the boats and golfers. There is no shade, so wear a hat if visiting outside seating.. I can't say that everyone will have my experience here. Is this restaurant worth a try? Yes, it is worth a try if here playing golf or find yourself in the area. I just wouldn't go out of my way to dine or have drinks at this restaurant. Came here for Father's Day brunch with a reservation and were seated outside on a beautiful day. We were greeted and seated fairly quickly, and our server was initially attentive when taking our drink and food orders. However, the dining experience quickly went downhill. Although we specifically asked for our soups to come out first, they were brought to the table just minutes before our entrées, making it hard to enjoy either properly. What stood out even more was watching several tables, all seated after us, receive their food well before we did. It's hard to ignore the pattern, especially when none of those tables looked like ours. To make matters worse, I found a hair embedded in my burger patty. While the server was apologetic and took it back right away, it was understandably off-putting. The food had potential, but that, combined with the service dynamic, left a bad impression. It's disappointing, especially since this isn't the first time I've heard similar experiences from other friends who have dined here. First thing to recommend Chambers Grill -- the view!!! OMG on a beautiful morning or twilight there's simply no better place to be than overlooking Chambers Bay. Second is the breakfast. It is SO HARD to find a good breakfast in Tacoma or University Place. It's not so hard if you're looking for greasy spoon diner eggs and bacon but otherwise not so easy. But then we checked out Chambers Bay Grill one Sunday morning and I had an AMAZING avocado toast. Truly truly delicious. Now I've seen it mentioned in another review as not so great so maybe it's inconsistent. But I tell you, the day that I had it -- it was the bomb. Plus we had a mimosa and that was delish too. Only downside? What PNW restaurant doesn't have an espresso machine????? Years ago (like 8?) they told me their machine had broken. And since then they just haven't offered espresso drinks. It took them until 9:45pm; exactly 48 minutes after we ordered, to tell us that the kitchen/cooks didn't get our order we placed at 8:56pm and it would be another 20 minutes for our food; the food we ordered, to go... We made a reservation for brunch to celebrate, having visited the area a few times and wanting to dine with a view. The view of the Sound from the restaurant is priceless. We're glad we made reservations because it saved us some of the wait time since there was a line when we arrived and there aren't too many seats inside. I imagine eating here during the summer would be even better because they have a lot of outdoor seating. While it's not exactly fine dining, it has a sports restaurant feel and is very welcoming to families, including a kids menu. The menu items were fairly pricey for brunch but their sizes are large enough to share. We were hungry so we ordered a lot and enjoyed it. read more

I had Chambers Bay Grill on my bookmarks and it wasn't really because I heard good things about it but it was more of a draw and an excuse (not that one was needed) to go to Chambers Bay itself which is just so very beautiful so that association alone is what prompted me to add this place. And the hope that a lot of gophers that go here the restaurant just may be getting a bad rap for no reason. But alas the reviews and overall average didn't exactly lead me wrong at all. Some of the complaints that people indicated in their reviews I didn't detect but my own disappointment was with the food. I am not a huge breakfast eater anyway but I do like Avocado Toast around the morning hours and that is what I got. The avocado itself was made into a spread on my toast which is normal for this dish but unfortunately avocado and how it tastes can be a tricky one. The avocado on my toast didn't taste fresh at all but more something that was less on the natural side and loaded with preservatives. There was also an odd olive or oily flavor to the avocado which was totally out of place for this dish. I ate it all but it was not all that impressive. Steve got a breakfast burrito and we both decided we liked that dish was one we liked better over mine. But rather than having salsa to go with the burrito it was accompanied by ketchup? Another head scratching moment. Despite the placement of the restaurant you don't get much view of Chambers Bay at all if you sit inside but it looks like in the summer you can sit outside and get the view in then. But perhaps just get drinks... there are better restaurant options not far away from the park. read more

I recently ate here after walking around chambers bay with my friend. I expected better food and better service, especially since it was not busy. Both of us had empty water/coffee glasses/cups a couple times. Not a big deal, but it was empty. Take care of the guests you have. The food was fine but both of our eggs were overcooked. She ordered hers over easy and mine poached. Eggs are pretty simple and theres not much excuse to overcook them...the poached eggs were just under hard boiled. The over easy egg, the yolk was almost completely solid as well. My veggies were all pretty good although i wished it was served with some pico de gallo instead of ketchup. It was also lacking in seasoning. I appreciated that the fruit was berries and not a melon mixture that is more common. I might go here again if i was walking there but i certainly would not go out of my way to eat here. read more

We approached Emily and her events team at the Chambers Bay Grill to nail down the venue barely two months before the ceremony. We were lucky that our chosen date was available, perhaps only because we specifically targeted August 15, which happened to fall on a Thursday, not the most sought-after date for a wedding. The staff at the Grill didn't blink. They worked with us to corral the necessary Chambers Bay infrastructure, and coordinated closely with our event company and other vendors to put together an outdoor wedding overlooking the expanse of the course, the bay and the Olympics, followed by a reception in a magical tented venue open on the bay side featuring, as it turned out, a stunning view of the perhaps the most beautiful Pacific Northwest sunset we've ever seen. The Grill also had the all-important role of catering the reception, smoothly managing pre- and post-ceremony appetizers and drinks, later serving up a rich buffet according to an extensive menu we'd chosen from beforehand; From tender beef tips to succulent scallops and pasta, accompanied by a wide array of sides. The past few times we've been here for lunch we've been disappointed. The servers seem to forget about diners on the patio, so we waited nearly 45 min just to give our order and another hour to receive our 2 meals. We were the only ones on the patio but just felt overlooked. Could not get a coffee refill or question about menu item answered as the server never returned to the table with our check. Finally (after another 45 min after finishing our meals) we had to go to front desk to ask for our bill. Three of us visited the restaurant following golfing there--the welcoming at the host/ess stand needed to be more present. We inquired about seating outside and were passed from person to person. Once we were seated, the waitress showed up fairly soon. She took our drink orders and returned with them within a couple of minutes. She was very friendly, so that was great. The food was, unfortunately, not on one of the entries. There was a big thumbs up on the Reuben sandwich and a pretty good one on the tuna. The steak tacos were horrible, almost inedible. The meat was in its third or fourth reheating session as I had to chew my first bite (and many others) for over a minute each time. I know that when they hosted the PGA tourney, this was not the case, but by continuing to charge high-end golfing rates, they should have kept the effort with the restaurant. It has instead, become a normal Muni courses restaurant experience. Also, the Reuben score was great, the tuna was ok, and the steak tacos were very poor.
