A friend gave me the name of this shop & told me to ask for Pat. I contacted her on June 23rd, sent pic & I was quoted $160. I asked what days she works & I was told Thurs, Fri & Sat. So I tried for a week to book something but I never heard back. Then I get a call a couple of weeks later from Allison that Pat isn't taking any new clients but she can do my hair. I booked it & it went ok for the most part. It was quite a bit more then Pat quoted me but I was happy with it. Now a couple of months later & I need root touch up. We book a appt on Sept 30th but she calls to cancel with a personal emergency. I said no problem & booked the appt for Oct 4th. I get there & she does not have any of the supplies, I guess she never purchased them, So we make a appt the next day Oct 5th at 1:15. I text her when I got there & waited & waited & waited. I read the last review regarding her non-response due to a family emergency, and I just wanted everyone to know that she was dealing with a death in the family and usually when that happens you don't come to work. I've been here twice now, and I had a great experience both times. On the first visit, I was just going to check it out and get my eyebrows waxed. I was very impressed with the spaciousness of the salon, cleanliness and atmosphere, and the friendliness of each person I came into contact with. I don't consider myself a "girly girl" and to be honest, a salon is definitely outside the realm of my usual comfort zone (the beauty aisle at Target or Ulta, lol.) There were women (AND MEN) there of all ages, which indicated to me this wasn't an "old lady salon." as well as stylists, manicurists, everything you'd expect from a full-service salon I suppose. Maybe it was the smell of bleached hair or the pretty girl getting a Marilyn Monroe-esque blonde updo, but I decided to stay a little longer and get a trim. I was very pleased with my natural-looking eyebrows and the way my stylist, Danielle Christina, helped tame my dry, frizzy, curly hair while still keeping my length as I wanted. Throughout my experience, there were other stylist/cosmetologists/manicurists chatting with us, and it was a very relaxed, but social setting that was not too overwhelming for me. I really liked the ambiance of the salon overall, and I felt genuinely welcomed by the owner, who came up to me on several occasions. Just recently, my Mother and I decided to have a salon day and I had no hesitation about where I would take her. I made an appointment for the both of us with Danielle Christina, who was very accomodating in taking two cut/color appointments. We went on a Saturday in the beginning of June, and Top Styles was having a celebration of their 5th year in business. It was very festive, they had music playing, but again not overwhelming, and my mother and I were both offered wine (which we declined...this time...) iced tea, coffee, and lots of homemade food and goodies while we waited for our color to set. Danielle Christina paid extra attention to my Mother's color, and got it to the exact shade she wanted. I decided to go with more alternative non-natural red/orchid chunks/highlights in my dark-brown-almost-black hair, and was not disappointed. She placed the color just how I wanted it, allowing me to show off my personal style. The whole experience was great! My Mother had a great time, and I can't wait to bring her back for a pedicure :-) Both visits were great, and I recommend Top Styles Hair Design for ANYONE of ANY AGE. Carmen did my hair... cut, blow dry and style. She did the best job that anyone has ever done in my 17 years of living in Southern California. I have Polynesian hair which is big and curly. She made me really love my hair again! I highly recommend this salon because they take their time and they make you feel beautiful when you walk out! Another gal, Peggy, did my daughter's hair and her hair was called "A beast" by another hair dresser at another salon. My daughter's hair is 4 x's the thickness and curlier than my hair! Went to get my hair done by Phong and it was the most horrible experience ever! She was so rough with me hair and it hurt. I went in for a trim long bob and under neath my hair so much shorter. I heard about this place from a friend of mine and wanted to try a salon style place as opposed to a typical barber shop. I was very impressed with the decor and the friendly feel as soon as I walked in. i did not have an appointment but Carmen was very happy to help me within 5-10 min from the moment i walked in. 18.00 for a cut seems a little steep but as soon as the shampoo and head massage started it was well worth it. My cut was good but its hard to mess up a simple men's cut so i decided to bring my mom in. My moms hair is short and very dry but Carmen was able to trim/treat and style her hair just how she likes it. Seeing a smile on my moms face says it all to me. I noticed that this place has full nail service for men and women and facial room which i am not sure what the cost is for that but I am sure its reasonable. They serve coffee and pastries for their clientele and I also overheard one of the stylist offer others champagne while they waited. The staff makes this place fun and were keeping me entertained while I waited for my mom's appointment to finish up. Needless to say I am a regular here now and come in at least twice a month. read more

Before I called to see if they had any openings today to do my hair, I checked their reviews on here first. I was impressed by the amount of positive reviews, but most importantly, that they knew how to manage my type of hair; a lot of long, curly, complicated hair that if not done correctly, will fizz at the slightest thing. I called and spoke to Pat, the owner...she asked around to see if anyone had opening, and I was scheduled with an appointment with Waffa. When I got there, she was ready. I showed her the picture that I wanted, explained that I've already had done to my hair and she said, no problem...we can do it. I was going from dark brown almost black to blonde. Waffa took her time to make sure it was done correctly and to her satisfaction. I was very impressed with the amount of time she took with me to make sure it was no less than perfect. Because I have extremely long hair, Pat, the owner, pitched in to assist with my color to make sure I was getting exactly the color I wanted. Needless to say, at the end of it all, I have found a new stylist. Not to mention to cost. I was impressed with the amount it cost, that I even gave Waffa a very nice tip and it was still less that other salons I have tried. I'm definitely going back...I have found my perfect stylists with a down home feeling salon. This is one happy chica! read more

Pat (the owner) took my case because I wanted to correct the mistake of going black. She explained why and convinced me to lighten up gradually, as to keep my hair mostly healthy and soft. She spent a lot of time and used many foils and color to make a beautiful first treatment in my transition. I was so happy with the result, I brought my daughter in for a cut as well. I've paid more for less work on my hair elsewhere so I think Top Styles is a good choice for stretching your pampering dollar. I'll be back as a regular customer. Okay, I neglected my hair for two years and didn't get it cut because I wanted to grow it long and didn't want a hacked up hair-do like I had gotten before I moved. I finally decided this morning to get it trimmed, and after researching on Yelp decided to try this spot. Firstly, I walked into smiling faces and happy people. That's a huge plus for me instantly, as I went to Great Clips (off of College) with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago and got some really nasty looks and attitudes (thus, why I didn't have one of them cut it then). So five stars already to TopStyles for the awesome personalities and welcoming attitude! ! You ladies rock!! I had an appointment with Mary - She came over and sat down and talked to me about what I wanted, and then explained she was still working on her previous customer (I was early). Another five stars for that (even before I got my hair cut I was feeling really good about this place!!!) Mary was super sweet, very talkative (another plus for me!)! I want to feel like my hairstylist cares about how my hair looks and feels, and Mary did just that! She trimmed me up, did a blow-out and straighten style, and I am 1,000,000% satisfied - she kept my length as much as she could with the damage I had done, and she also informed me to get a shampoo with a sunscreen in it since my hair is getting burned from being outside/putting it up/etc. Thank you so much for renewing my faith in hair stylists, I will be making an appointment with you next time I need a trim. :) Price was also extremely good!! Very happy with the haircut! I am a hairstylist myself and I'm very picky. Carmen did an awesome job. She did exactly what I asked her and the cut came out great! I gave them 4 stars because i did see one area that could be improved. I scheduled my appt for a cut / style and when she was done cutting she asked if I needed her to style it. I asked if the price was different if she styled it or not and she said "no". I think if customers are paying to have their hair cut and styled it shouldn't be a question especially if its included in the cost. It kind of made me feel like she didn't want to spend the extra time. This was probably not intentional at all, and when I asked her to style it she was happy to. Again, the cut was great, she was very nice, the salon was clean, and I have found my new salon home :) I will definitely be going back to see Carmen! read more

If I could give no stars I would. Absolute worst experience I ever had! I went in asking for darker hair and came out BLONDE! The women who did my hair (Waffa) left bleach in my hair for at least a hour and a half maybe even two hours! My hair was completely damaged by the time she washed it out. I ended up having to go get my hair fixed by someone else and cut it all off because it was so damaged. She took a smoke break during my appointment which I find very rude and she we also doing another girls hair at the time. I spent the entire day/ night at this horrible place. NEVER GO HERE! It's been almost a year now and My hair is still not as soft as it use to be. Please do yourself a favor and don't let her ruin your hair! I paid so much for this women to ruin my hair. read more

I have to agree with Haley B about Waffa Abbas, she is the best person I have had do my hair, and take it from someone who has been getting their hair done since age 14! I have had plenty of "hair stylist" screw up my hair, and have learned to cope with it and unfortunately I settled for less. It wasn't until Waffa that I learned YOU SHOULD GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!! She has been doing hair for 30+ years, and let me tell you, experience is a must when it comes to hair. She takes my nappy, frizzy, damaged hair, and turns it silky, glossy, shiny, and perfected every time. Now thats a hair stylist! Im sharing this information for anyone who is desperate for their hair to become a reality and not just an image they have built up in their head. I promise Waffa will leave you happy, she wont let you leave her chair until you are too. One time she took me outside into the sun to make sure it was exactly the right color! She is a huge perfectionist and anyone who has had her do their hair can tell you same. Stop making excuses for all the mess ups and "miscommunications" made from your previous hair stylists. I called in advance to make an appointment and they actually fit me in the next day! When i get there i was a few minutes early and didnt mind sitting down and waiting. It is a beautiful salon. But after 30 minutes of waiting and no one at the counter to talk to i was starting to get anxious. Finally the woman (i am not going to call her out publicly) comes over and gets me. She is somewhat friendly but also complaining about work and being over busy. She didnt want to be there and it really showed in her attitude and her final product of my hair. I showed her the color of dark red i wanted and said i just wanted a trim. Barley a cut of an inch. She explained that the color i wanted was damaging and i understood but still wanted a little red thrown in with a good brown color. Well she starts coloring my hair and its looking good, then she washes it out and then she starts to cut. I am listening to her cut and start to see huge chunks of hair falling to the ground. She cut off almost a foot of my hair and styled it a way that looks terrible on my face without asking me. The color is spotty. The roots are uneven and the ends are a different color. I felt my heart drop. It was a terrible experience. I am going to go get my hair redone somewhere else and probably invest in some extensions. Update: Its been about a week now. I use Paul Mitchell Color shampoo and conditioner. The really expensive good stuff. I noticed after the first shower (about two days later to let the hair dye set in fully) it almost all washed out. The next time i washed my hair it fully came out. I went to a hairstylist and they said it was temporary hair dye. Not permanent. I am so furious that i paid $115 for complete crap. Not only did my hair get chopped to bits but the hair coloring was spotty and then washed out from not being real. This place is crap. I want my money back. I want my MONEY BACK. read more

The worst haircut ever both my moms and I , her swas a little bit more noticeable. My bangs were just supossed to be straight across , how hard it is,I had to tell the lady over and over again what to do then in the even after getting up leaving and going back to tell her to fix something three times I finally just gave up went home and did it myself with regular scissors and it came out better. The lady who did my bangs also smelt like alcohol, very strong, it made me want to throw up with her talking in my face. MY mothers hair dresser ,pearl , was asked from the beginning and several times during the cut to make sure she was leaving the length instead to prove she did leave the length she left about four little strands long but not even blended in with the rest of the hair, mother left crying.
