1-Star Review Title: Absolutely Disgusting -- Stay Far Away! If I could give this place negative stars, I would. As someone who used to work here, I can say without hesitation: this travel center is highly disgusting. The food they serve is often old, unsanitary, and unfit for consumption. Nothing is properly cleaned -- not the food, not the prep areas, not even the coffee machines. They rarely, if ever, break them down to clean them the way they're supposed to. I've seen it firsthand, and I've known multiple people who have gotten food poisoning after eating here. What makes it worse is the horrible customer service. Ask for fresh food? They'll flat-out refuse. They want you to eat the cold, stale leftovers that have been sitting for hours. There's no regard for customer satisfaction or basic hygiene. On top of that, the environment is outright toxic, and yes, there are very clear racist attitudes present among some of the staff and management. It's unacceptable, and I'm honestly surprised this place hasn't been shut down by health inspectors already. If you care about your health, your dignity, and your money, do not stop here. Keep driving -- you'll thank yourself later. read more

No cook on duty in mid day, so no fresh food. Only fried foods and pizza from a display case. Very poor food quality, and barely warm. The chicken gizzards were inedible. read more

Holy Cow! If you are hungry for country quick food, this is the place! White beans fried okra fried catfish are just a few of the choices! Prices are reasonable and you won't leave hungry. Clean rest rooms and a dinning area to relax and feed your face! read more

The old Torch 85 Restaurant is no longer there. The building was torn down and there is a modern gas station there now. They do have some food offerings with a little buffet, but It's nothing like it used to be. read more

This is a very old run-down hole in the wall, with the most excellent burgers and onion rings. Really. The best burgers. The onion rings are home made old style, not much breading. I love them this way. There is a neat old drawing of this building hanging on the wall near the cash register, dated '67. I remember eating here many times in the '70s. Don't expect to have a nice clean visit to the restrooms here. Come here for the burger only and you won't be disappointed. You can come here for the experience, ifn you have the right kind of experience in mind. Positive attitude. read more

Unless they have moved it, this beloved restaurant doesn't exist anymore. I didn't know and skipped food in Atlanta coming home so I could eat it. Now it's just an average gas station. What a pity. read more

Decent food for a quick right-off-the-highway stop. Quite an extensive menu with burgers and sandwiches to taco salad and ribeye. Cons? It didn't appear super clean, but it may just be mostly outdated dinginess. The bathrooms were small, definitely not handicap accessible, and they were shared with the entire truck stop/gas station. Pros? Our waitress was great. Very personable, kept us updated on our food, gave us to-go cup refills, and even ran out our son's Lego that he left on the table. The burgers were tasty though just a smidge overdone for my taste (I was worried they would be dried out since they looked a bit charred but they weren't). The fries weren't anything special. We had been excited about the deep fried Oreos on the menu as a treat for the kids but they were out. Overall, three stars for a decent road trip stop. Nothing to write home about but not a place to avoid. read more

I am a new truck driver, but have been around a time or two. And nothing, nothing, is better than a great diner experience. Was this diner great. No. Was it good? eh...I'm stuck on fair to good, mostly fair. Don't get me wrong, the coffee was good and they had homemade bisquits. But their omelette was fair at best, with processed ham slices in my Western style omelet. And the price...eh...$12 for a coffee, entree, hash browns, and bisquits plus tip. A fair price for a very good meal, if this was one. As much as I love hidden away diners... I cannot recommend this as a must stop. It's simply fair fare. read more

Started eating here in August, about once or twice a week, Started off great, tonight (December 5th) is the last time I will ever eat there. The place doesn't look like much, but the food WAS good; unfortunately it doesn't even have that going for it anymore. First impressions were that it's more dive than diner. Broken window was not an encouraging first impression. Waitress was extremely friendly. Food was good but somewhat under seasoned. Onion rings and burger were exceptionally good. We will try it again. read more

My husband and I have made torch 85 our Saturday morning breakfast goto!! We love it! They serve breakfast all day, they are friendly and have great prices. We've also stopped there for dinner several times. Had a delicious grilled chicken sandwich last week and my husband had the Saturday special spaghetti! There are usually only a couple severs on hand, so if it's really busy, you'll wait a little bit. But it's worth it! This is a must try for anyone in the area. And yes it's in a truck stop!! read more

Best hamburger steak I've ever had! Lots of black pepper, smothered in *real* grilled onions, brown gravy and mushrooms. A side of fries okra topped it off. One reviewer said this place should be on that TV show about diners and dives. Absolutely right! Toilets leaking from tank... bathroom in 1/2" of standing water... whole facility is dirty... unqualified and rude restaurant staff... drug deal went down in the front parking lot... food was terrible at best! Avoid this rat trap at all costs! Yuck just yuck! read more

Gross! I will never spend another dime here. Food was beyond subpar and not prepared well. Waited 30 minutes with 2 other friends for take out. With all the great reviews I had to try, and figured it was worth the wait. Needless to say I tossed mine the same night and my friends half eaten meals are waiting to be thrown out of the fridge. What a dump, puts most holes in the wall on a pedestal. Not much to look at but biggest problem was sitting there for 10 minutes after our drinks were there while the 3 waitresses bs'd among them selves and with one table of locals. My husband and I went there for breakfast on Sunday after the Auburn and LSU game. It was awful. It was 4 cooks in the back and they weren't able prepare meals for the families that waited on breakfast. I know 5 families left. When the waitress decided to clean the table, she would not wipe the table. People were coming in sitting at nasty tables. Our waitress was very apologetic. It took us 1 hour to get something to eat. We would have left but every restaurant in Auburn had lines out the door. We have eaten there before and have enjoyed our meal...but I give this two thumbs down! read more

I've been going to the torch for quite some time now and I can honestly say it's a great place to go for some real down south cooking and a full stomach. most of the time you will always need a carry out. Lots of people may complain about the diner but it is a truck stop diner! I wouldn't expect a Picasso painting to be hung up. They have different cooks so the food will not always taste the same even though it will be hot and fresh when you receive it. I would rather wait 20 minutes for my food than for them to rush it out from the microwave. They serve breakfast all day and the dinner choices are very good. Service is also great. They smile they laugh they talk with you. It's also a small local joint too so of course it's not going to be elegant. Just a place to get a nice bite to eat and continue on with your day. Sundays menu is best with baked chicken breasts with dressing and gravy! read more
