Me and wife came here for lunch since we were in the mood for a sandwich. The place is located in downtown and plenty of parking in back by the park. I got the chicken sandwich with the fried chicken. It's three fried chicken fingers and the wife got the club. Both came with a side of fries. My sandwich was fantastic. The chicken was really good. I must say one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had. And even though crinkle cut fries aren't my favorite these were really good and they give you a good portion. The wife really liked her club sandwich as well. I had to try it for myself since I almost got that also. Hard to say which sandwich I liked more. The club is great. They use boars head meats and you can tell it's not cheap ham or turkey. Good quality. All ingredients were fresh. Can't recommend enough will definitely be back. read more

This place is nostalgic as it has great memories of Auburn University athletics. The food was awesome and we frequent this restaurant often. The staff is friendly/polite and the service is excellent. We ordered 2 Reubens W/free drink, another sandwich w/water. When placing the order, was asked what size drink. Ones a regular, ones a large. We opted for 2 large. So, 3 sandwiches at $12.99 each. We also ordered a full side of chips, which was even verified by a staff person, wasn't a full side, but just a sub for fries. "This is what chicken is really supposed to taste like!" - My dad, after trying the most flavorful grilled chicken My dad and I stumbled upon The Breeze Way for lunch recently, and we are so glad we did.We both ordered chicken baskets - he got the snack basket and I got the chicken and cheese. The snack basket is the perfect size, but I really wanted to try the mozzarella sticks. We got the fried chicken fingers, not realizing that the grilled chicken was their speciality. Luckily, one of the women working there overheard/found out it was our first time and brought each of us a grilled chicken tender as well. Honestly, I have never had grilled chicken be that tender and flavorful. I immediately regretted not getting grilled. ... But then I tried the fried chicken that I ordered, and it was also amazing. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the instead. The hot sauce is a perfect level of hot, but honestly, the chicken has such great flavor not sauce is necessary. The fries, mozzarella sticks and bread were all fine. Nothing to write home about, but you don't go to a chicken place for the French fries or Texas toast. Location: The Breeze Way is in the downtown section of Opelika and with its dark sign, it can be easy to miss. The interior is not fancy, but lots of tables and, of course, a long church bench. Price: This price is very reasonable especially for the quality of the chicken. Baskets are between $6-8, respectively. Drinks aren't included, which is not a big deal to me. P.S. I ordered a club sandwich, and my friend ordered the gobbler which was supposed to be a turkey sandwich. When they brought his sandwich to him, it was a ham sandwich. He went back to the counter to tell them that they had given him the wrong sandwich, and everyone behind the counter, and a woman in the kitchen started screaming at him. they said that that was what he ordered and that was what he got. My friend said it was ham, not turkey, but they insisted it was the correct sandwich, and when he asked for his money back, they refused, saying he got the correct sandwich. After five minutes arguing, he threw the sandwich into the garbage can told him we would never come back to their establishment ever again, and we left. at that time I had eaten half of the club sandwich, which was soggy and pretty tasteless so I was not impressed with that either. So, indeed, we will never go there again. Customer service should be your number one priority and they failed big time at that. read more

Wow! Passing through and found this place. Lucky us! I had The 747, a basket that has wings, chicken tenders, Texas toast, and fries. I added a side of coleslaw. Gina at the register told me I could do half of my chicken tenders fried and the other half house-marinated and grilled. Had I known their house marinade was that good, I would've gotten them all grilled up. SO GOOD. Make sure you try some of their zingy sauce. And then I found out Gina is the owner! Almost 20 years ago I went here with my buddy Grant. We were looking for good wings and the word on the street was that we'd have to hike over to Opelika to try them at The Breezeway. Well Grant wanted to be a real man and got the super ridiculously hot ones while I just got hot. The cashier was like "are you sure you want them that hot?" to Grant, but he confidently said yeah. Once we sat down with our sweet teas and started eating, Grant smirked at me saying how it wasn't that hot. I was nibbling on my wings too which were good and just right heat-wise. After a few though, the cashier guy smugly walked over and leaned up against a nearby chair and asked Grant how his wings were. By this time, Grant was sweating and looking to get a refill of his tea to cool him off. Yep they were pretty freaking hot. Flash forward to Dec 30, 2010 and I finally returned to the Breezeway. it looked much like I recall it had from the 1990s when I was last there. The area is actually trendy now, near Eighth and Rail. The wings were still good but it seemed like they served a whole lot more now than they had before. I didn't go mega-hot, but the 'hot' ones I got weren't really that hot - do I dare to try the freaky heat next time? Stay tuned... Hopefully it won't be in another 20 years. read more

After my friends told me about this restaurant, I finally came for good fried chicken fingers. The inside of the restaurant was clean, and baby's-breath on every table was very adorable. The basket didn't include the drink, but 7.99 of all the food was amazing. The chicken fingers were well seasoned, very tender, and juicy. The house sauce was similar to Zaxby's sauce but mixed with yum yum sauce. The coleslaw was little watery and the fries seemed like the ones from the frozen section. And if that was not good enough, we topped our meal off with their bread pudding. I would put their bread pudding up against Commanders Palace's bread pudding soufflé. Don't get me wrong, this place is really reasonably priced, and has a very nice staff. The food is cooked to order and delicious. Only reason it didn't receive 5 stars was due to the fries and shrimp being a little lacking, and the tables/booths could use a good update. It's a hole in the wall joint that looks like not much has changed in its 27 years, which is completely fine because the wings are amaaaazing. They're crispy, moist, and the hot flavor is incredible. They have a hint of honey which balances out the heat perfectly. We're kicking ourselves for living in Auburn for 4 years and not having tried them sooner.
