After rave reviews from others because social media is never wrong (sarcasm), we decided to give Torchy's Taco a try for dinner. Unfortunately, we came away less than impressed. The restaurant has a casual vibe, and our food arrived quickly after we ordered. The tacos, while having cool names, were too salty and otherwise just bland. We ordered the Baja shrimp, the Brushfire, the Crossroads, the Democrat, the kids' chicken taco, and the kids' steak taco, and while they were all very filling, they just lacked much flavor aside from the over-salty proteins. We did like the queso more than the tacos, but overall, I do not see myself going back here. read more

Torchey tacos is a cozy relaxing place. Music is comfortable, not too loud. The have a bar as well. But their tacos are damn good. They give you alot, it's no Taco Bell, it's % better. This was my favorite taco place in Austin and I was so pleasantly surprised to find a location in Columbus. It had been there a year. I met her manager on an early Saturday evening and he was cool. The staff was friendly and helpful. We sat on the patio with the pups and right after we sat it got full. The place was busy and the staff was working hard. We were served pretty quickly. We ordered a few tacos and the queso. Brisket, barbacoa and fajita tacos. Muy bueno. Looking forward to being in the neighborhood in a couple weeks for a breakfast taco. Off the list! It's been getting worse every time I go. My daughter got food and took it home and found HAIRS(plural)in her tacos. The quality has gone down. The tacos are just slopped together, no care given to how it's put together. Tastiest tacos in town ! They certainly don't skimp on the fillings. Highly recommend the Baja shrimp and the crossroads which is brisket. Definitely two different taste so I cannot pick which one is best. They are both amazing. We waited a while for our food and we were really hungry because we had just walked out of Metro Park. We ordered chips and salsa to tide us over till the food was ready finally to wait wasn't that long but our Thanking well our tacos came and we said hey Weight, we had ordered chips and salsa but we don't need them now because our foods here, so can you cancel the order and our server can I had a little attitude and said no you can't cancel it I'll bring them right out well we didn't really want them anyway and we ate our tacos and didn't need to eat anymore as we were full, but we did one or two for purposes of this review. We weren't happy with the service attitude. We should've had our chips and salsa when we were waiting all that time for food we got the Rojas and it was very good. The chips were quite salty so beware if it weren't for the servers attitude and we had gotten our chips to Munch on before our food like we were supposed to then I would've given it a higher rating. Small inside area for seating so of course since it just opened it was packed. Was lucky enough to snag a table at the back that was being cleaned. There are a few tables outside as well. Even though it was pretty busy our food came out rather fast. Fountain drinks are self serve up at the front. My mom decided to spice it up a bit and ordered the sangria. She said it was awesome and strong but not overpowering. You can get these to go. We all enjoyed our tacos for the most part other than the fact they all came out barely lukewarm, some pretty much cold. We tried the democrat (barbacoa), the crossroads (brisket), and the fajita taco. I wouldn't recommend the fajita one, very bland. The other two were good, especially after you add some of the hot sauce to it. We also ordered the basic queso. It had a nice little heat to it. Worth a try read more

Why is it called Torchy's Damn Good Tacos? Because all you can say after the first bite is DAMN. I got the trailer park flour tortilla taco and the democrat corn tortilla taco. Both were so good! I've been working on trying new food and so I ordered them as they come and I do not regret that choice. Admittedly it was hard to find a place to sit so I wound up at the bar and the bartenders were so attentive and friendly! I ended up getting the sucker punch which is a sweet one fyi. Also very good! Arrived before 11:00am and there was no wait, but within 15 min the line was out the door. Always order the chips and queso, it was delicious and they'll give you more chips if you run out before the queso cup is empty. Our first time! Went into Torchys At Polaris with no expectations. Was met with a new worker who unfortunately was no help and barely understood the menu. Luckily, a young lady came to assist. We each ordered the orange taco and the avocado taco. We asked if the Orange taco could be pan fried instead of blackened and they were able to do so with no problem. The tacos were really good and service was relatively fast. Good quality ingredients and very tasty sauces. The restaurant was clean. If you like a different variety of tacos, this is the best place!! The ingredients are always fresh. They also have great margaritas. Mitchell is a great bartender with a lot of personality and makes an amazing Torchy Tini. I tried the green chile pork taco and the Democrat. The service was quick and friendly, but overall the tacos were very average. The meat was a little on the dry side, but I still enjoyed both. I'd eat here if I were in the mood for fast food, rather than a nicer taco place. It was super kid friendly though, so maybe we will be back. read more

We stopped in for carry out yesterday. It was past the lunch hour, but the place was still busy! The lady taking our order was helpful. We had the Baja, crossroads, democrat, republican and fajita tacos. We got a few extra sauces to try - poblano, Diablo, avocado to name a few. We also got a side of guacamole and chips. I've been here several times now. I've had varied experiences, so I wanted to wait to review. I would give them 3.5 stars, if I could. I've tried many different tacos (and even a burrito), and came to the conclusion the fried avocado taco is the best by far. The creamy refried beans and fried avocado with the poblano sauce is so good! But I do not recommend getting the fried avocado taco to go, because once it cools down, it tastes awful!!! The one time I got a pick up order, everything was cold, so I only dine in now. Their food is best eaten when it's still hot. Something I've noticed is that most of their food is overly salty. Especially the proteins. That's probably another reason I prefer the fried avocado taco; it has never been salty. The hillbilly queso and chips are delicious, but again, very salty. They could really do us all a favor, and cut back on the salt. If you're on a sodium restriction, this is probably not your place. For that reason, I won't eat at Torchy's very often. My hubby loves the Ace of Spades and Trailer Park Trashy, and also agrees the food is too salty....and this is coming from a person who enjoys salty foods. So I'm gonna stick to the fried avocado tacos. They are the bomb! read more

So with the high reviews I had to try this place today! Very busy--like waaaaay too many people is a small space busy. But they seemed to be fully staffed with workers all over the place. Not super clean. It is similar to a fast causal where you stand in line, order at the counter with a server and then sit down. They bring your food out and I will say it was surprisingly fast. The queso was excellent. We got it with no Diablo, and the the chips were equally as good. The tacos were a bit of a disappointment for us. I really loved my fried shrimp taco. The batter they fried the shrimp in was excellent and I liked the sauces. I was with a group of 5 and no one else really liked their tacos. Others ordered: chicken fajita taco, beef fajita taco, grilled shrimp and the trailer park taco. Everyone in my party said they wouldn't return. When I asked for a box, the girl said there is foil up by the drink station. Wasn't impressed or helped by that response but all of my other encounters with staff were positive. The floors were very slippery, needing a good scrub. The tables were clean, however do to the slippery floors, the chairs moved around very easy. The men's room was very dirty, floor in there was equally bad. The walls were filthy and it smelled. The inside of the door was covered in dirt. Back at the table, the food came, looked good, tasted bland. The rice in the bowls was very mushy, however the mild and milder salsas they provided gave it a little more flare. Today was everything I remembered Torchy's to be (it hasn't been that long- only moved last summer!). Torchy's has something for everyone! The service today was great, everyone was pleasant and the food came out faster than I expected on day 1! It tasted just right too. So many people who have lived or were connected to Texas and Ohio were there supporting and enjoying the torch! First time at this place. It was super busy when we walked in on a Sunday at about 5pm. The lady told upfront that it's about a 30 minute wait for tacos. So we found a spot, sat down and had a cocktail. It took maybe 20 minutes for the food to come out, so not bad at all. Queso was good but small for the price. The Airstream salad was delicious with some spice to it, and so were the tacos. We had two limeade titos drinks which were also really good. By the time we left the line was way out the door. The original Tochy's as I remember living in Austin was literally a small food truck and I loved going there. Almost nostalgic to me to think about it as the place defines 'Keep Austin Weid'. It presents total hip and liberal side of Texas. Tacos are very flavorful. Pick any of these tacos and they all would have completely different taste profiles; Spicy, hot, and tangy. Alright, so this one is not a easy one. Has good and bad qualities. Let's start with the drinks, the sangria not bad, the tequila sunrise horrible, I won't order I drink if I go in the future again I think I'll just stick with water. But I didn't go to this restaurant for the drinks,let's talk about the tacos. Is hard to not compare this place with Condado, same formula but with a different result, the prices are high for a taco but I think the sizes are decent, good portion, nice presentation but lacks flavor. Out of 6 different tacos, the Baja shrimp was the only really tasty one, the other 5 were "good" but not enough to blow my mind. Now the environment is nice, I like the way they highlighted the fact is originality from Ohio but the service is weird, is a fast food restaurant but the inside Doesn't look like that. I had Torchys in Texas and really liked so i was excited when i found out they had opened one in columbus..I had high hopes. Unfortunately, this seems like a knock off version and their overall food quality has gone down hill since they have franchised. There are better taco places in columbus. I got the crossroads taco and it really wasn't bad but I didn't feel good after eating it. I added the potatoes which seems like they just used frozen hash browns.
