Food was AMAZING. Fresh Mexican tacos, fresh guacamole at a super affordable price. Tacos are only $2.50 on Tuesdays so definitely a great deal!! Vibes were a little off. Not a lot of people there, very loud music and a little too much for a chill Tuesday. Would love it if they had more laid back music and maybe cleaned up the outside a little- less bar vibes and more casual eatery like it's neighbors across the street! I have tried lots of food trucks, and Junior's Tacos are better than many of them. It has kind of a simple menu. There's burritos and tacos with customizable toppings. It's kind of slow and not the best cost. They're still way much better than Taco Bell for sure. I had a burrito with vegetables. It was about $8 for only the burrito. This is kind of steep as other trucks can include a drink and sides for this. It was pretty good though. The hot sauce was incredibly good. It was serious hot so you need something to drink as well. They have Mexican pop which is cool. I would go to Junior's Tacos if they're at a festival. It's not quite good enough otherwise. They could be if they had menu prices in line with other trucks. read more

Tried Juniors Tacos for the first time today. It took about 15 minutes for them to make our 8 tacos, so I assumed he was cooking them during that time, but after we got in the car to take them home, my daughter says, "Thats strange. Ussually when we get tacos, you can smell them in the car!" Hmmm...I touch the box and its cold. We get to the house five minutes away, open the box, and pull out the tacos and see they are completely cold. Did they cook them while we were waiting, or just pull them from a fridge? Completely tasteless. Then I pull out the side of guacamole! I did not even try to taste it because - here is a photo of it! Disgusting! So eight cold pastor tacos and an inedible guac was $20! After being spoiled by San Francisco's Mexican food offerings, it's been tough to find some good grub for this gringo here in Columbus. Now add the fact that my wife and I are vegetarian. The phrase "vegetarian Mexican" is largely an oxymoron at most eateries, so it's nice to find a place like Junior's that at least offers a veggie option for each of their mains (burritos, tacos, tortas, and quesadillas). Their burrito was decent; average picks of vegetables inside (good onions!) with the option to add avocado, but I like getting black beans in my burrito (not possible at Junior's) and wish there were some more interesting veggies in that burrito. My wife's veggie torta was reportedly good too. Great that Junior's has us vegetarians in mind (thanks!) and I'll be back to try some of the other options in the future. Although their posted hours say they're closed Wednesdays, they were open this Wednesday -- forgot to ask if that's a permanent change tho. read more

This was my first visit to a taco truck in Columbus and I was exxcciiiiitted! They did not disappoint! I tried two tacos. One of the asada (steak) variety and the other of the lengua (beef tongue) variety. Not only were they awesomely cheap at $1.50 each, they were so yummy. The asada was very flavorful and the lengua, oh myyyy was so tender and fatty just the way I like it. There's something about organ meats that satisfies the taste buds so differently than plain ol meat. Maybe it's the mineraliness that I love. Lengua has a milder touch of iron versus liver. I'm definitely going to be coming back to this joint. Fer sure. Oh and a quick note: Onions and Cilantro as toppings are free, but you have to ask for it. read more

Amazing tacos. My favorite and most delicious experiences of tacos has so far consistently been with taco trucks owned and operated by hispanics. When I visited today, the Hispanic worker (idk if he was the owner), made 4 beef tacos for my partner and 4 chorizo tacos for me. The mild and spicy sauces are both amaazziinggg and the limes were so fresh! The diced onions were sweet and the tortillas were the best part!!! There was a convenience store in the same parking lot so I got orange juice and my partner had a Coca Cola. We took it and ate it at goodale park -- great start to the weekend. read more

I had to write a review for them today because of their amazing owner/employees. They've always been really nice and accommodating. But today I didn't order enough food to make the credit minimum. I tried to decide what I wanted to get to boost the total up but I clearly didn't really want anything else besides the two tacos I ordered. The owner was super nice and offered to just let me have my order and that "you can come pay me later." I was pretty amazed that he offered, sure it's just $3, but you know it's the gesture. I call bullshit on all these three star reviews. Seems like everyone is harping on Junior's lack of authenticity simply because they do business in a white collar neighborhood. If Junior's really wasn't all that, how come there aren't ANY two or one star reviews? Never mind the fact that the ABYSMAL food that La Fogata serves yields them a rather respectable three star rating. Total BS. If you want authentic, don't order something that originates from the complete opposite side of the country (fish tacos) -- that's like going to Kansas City and ordering kalbi. And for crying out loud, don't order a quesadilla and then complain about authenticity, it screams ignorant gringo/a. Alright, end rant. Here's why I gave Junior's four stars: fucking awesome lengua. And it's improved significantly in the past year. What was once fairly tender lengua is now, very tender, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. A couple drops of red sauce, a line of green (for moisture), with chopped onion and cilantro? And maybe a bite or two of clarifying radishes? It's the most well composed three bites of Mexican tacos between 315 and 71. When I'm not eating four lengua tacos, I'm having a burrito or a torta. I agree with Maya C. Since I've been sampling the vegetarian options, I thought I'd write just about that. The vegetarian tacos are little hand made shells, filled with grilled onions, squash, jalapenos and well seasoned with Fajita spice. Carlos the owner is a former executive chef and he treats the veggie options with respect, not like an afterthought. Another option is the veggie burrito, ask for an avocado upgrade for a mere 50cents extra, or the Chilie Rellenos, stuffed with what else...cheeeeeese topped with their red bell-pepper sauce. Carlos assured me that there will be an explosion of options coming soon, like fried fish for Sundays and a full dinner menu at taco-truck prices. It's no secret, I love street food! I am a sucker for great smells and long lines and, though the line wasn't very long, the tales told of this Taco Truck by a coworker seduced me down West 5th Avenue away from my High Street lunch adventure plans. Nestled in the side lot of a convenience store, they have some prime real-estate on a quiet street across from a school park. It was all very exciting. The menu was pretty standard with Tacos, Tortas, Quesadillas, Burritos, and specials. We both ordered tacos with sour cream and salsa. They were out of fish so I ordered all pollo, my friend ordered one each: pollo, asada, chorizo, carnitas and veggie. Tacos were quickly delivered and smelt great, but without salsa sauce. I returned to the window and asked for salsa and was handed just a bottle of red sauce, wanting more heat I returned again and was then handed a bottle of green sauce and was told they should have been at our table - they weren't? Pros - Our tacos were excellent, everything being eaten around us looked and smelled amazing, the prices were fabulous, and this is one of those places that I know will get better with each and every visit as I have more time to meander the menu. Juniors is overrated. Probably the most over hyped food truck in Columbus. The payoff to the guest is just not worth all the praise. The food is good. I have eaten here at least ten times. Several of my friends, who's opinion on food I respect, have vouched for Junior's. I just don't see it. My wife, who has an excellent Mexican food barometer, agrees with me. Ultimately the food program is just very mediocre. I think the location and name brand recognition have contributed to this false reputation. The quality of the food is just not that great. Steak quesadilla is very underwhelming. Chorizo is cheap and devoid of good flavor. Weak sauce options. Old stale slices of radish and rusty brown lettuce with a dry wedge of lime are unacceptable garnishes. I've found the customer service to be leaning towards unfriendly several times as well. I would recommend trying it. In a vacuum on its own It is good, but they are victims of their own success- a level of hype they just can't reach up to. read more

Nothing screams "amazing" here for me, but I have a slight aversion to corn tortillas so maybe that's on me. Their burritos and quesadillas are great though -- Love the chicken and the carnitas. The hot sauces are pretty solid as well, though I'd appreciate a sliiiightly larger serving of sour cream. Typical truck prices ($5 burritos/quesadillas, $1.50 tacos), though the add-ons and sides can get a little pricey. Quick service, not overly friendly -- they're just doing their jobs. This is HANDS-DOWN the absolute best Mexican food place in Columbus. Not Tex-Mex. Mexico-Mex. They don't look like a legit restaurant, of course, being a truck parked in a convenience store parking lot with some decorative Christmas lights on the windshield. But they more than make up for the lack of ambiance with deliciousness. I usually get the carne asada burrito with avocado. It's just so darn good! I had it for dinner two nights in a row one time. Carne asada, rice, beans, lettuce, probably other stuff... trust me, you'll like it. If steak is not your thing, they have a variety of other menu options -- not as much as non-mobile restaurants, but several choices of fillings across several dishes. Get the salsa verde. It's tasty and not too spicy. They're very reasonably priced, too. Almost all of their burritos are $5. Most tacos are $1.50 each. (Seafood runs a little more.) And they are open every day until at least 10pm, maybe even later. Next time you're hankering for something that is simultanously cheap and delicious, cruise by and pick up a lil' something-something from Junior's. You can either stay to eat in the little tent behind the truck, or have a Mexican tailgating party in the back of your pickup in the parking lot like some people we saw the last time we went there. Gah! I wish I'd read Nick's review before we decided on Junior's over Taqueria Davanne tonight. And there's really no excuse for me, what with mobile Yelp and all now. MF. Anyway, my friend has never been to a taco truck, so I thought I'd indoctrinate him, though I guess I should have done better research, though I sweah-ta-gahd Junior's is the one everyone in the Alive and on here has been raving about. It was very good - but not as good as the last two taco trucks I have been to. Per uzh, I ordered one taco (chorizo) and one torta (asada). There were no awesome options for beverages, so I just got water (I have to say, La Super Torta 2 WINS with the horchata). My friend followed my lead and ordered a taco and a burrito - I can't recall which meats he ordered, since we spent most of our time mowing (nom nom freakin' nom) and talking about grad student b.s. - but I do know he really enjoyed his first taco truck experience. I want to emphasize that this was indeed delicious - but as Nick mentions, not mind-blowing (whereas taco trucks of yore have blown my mind). In terms of my torta, the bread was not smushed much - and I have decided that this is sort of the determining factor for me. I did like the avocados in it, but I almost felt like they took away from the lack of meat in it. Sad face. This taco truck seems very geared toward the Harrison West/Vic Village upwardly mobile yet still hip crowd - it doesn't seem as authentic as, say, La Super Torta or La Morena, which are in much more beat down neighborhoods and thus less concerned with pleasing white people's perception of Mexican food, and more with feeding people who are Mexican, or who live within the Hispanic community. I did not see any Mexican or Hispanic people eating here, so that was another indicator - not that they don't, just that at more authentic-seeming joints I have always heard Spanish spoken almost exclusively and felt a sense of ethnic community as friends and family of the owners frequented those places while I was there. I would like to take the boy here and see what he thinks. I was rather proud of myself for knowing what most things on the menu were though (shout out to ADL X!). I certainly wouldn't dissuade anyone from going here, but I'd also recommend either of the aforementioned taco trucks over this one. read more

Junior's Tacos recently became notable in that it was the first taco truck I've ever visited, anywhere! It was a long time coming, and I am a cursed fiend of a beast for waiting so long to, ah, what do the kids say? "Pop my cherry." We went on a cold, gray day just before the May heat set in, and while we shivered and bitched about the weather waiting for the goods to come up after ordering, my hunger reached critical mass. The wait? Not too bad all in all, and worth it in the end. I ordered the tacos asada. I wish I had gone with the carnitas after all. Beef is my flesh of choice in most cases, but it was a little overdone at Junior's. It wasn't shoe-leather by any means, but it was a bit tough and chewy for something I'm supposed to eat on the go. It was well-flavored, though, and the tacos on the whole were a revelation. It was the most authentic taco I've ever had, really, considering I'm a Taco Bell fetishist. Well, was, I guess- I still love Taco Smell, but it's hard to call those things "tacos" anymore. If anything Junior's did something for me far behind their good tacos- they opened my eyes to the wider taco truck phenomenon, which I intend to further explore. I will be back to Junior's, too, and not soon enough, now that the cold weather is theoretically behind us for the summer. read more

TACO, TACO, TACO, TACO!! I have been on the prowl for a decent taco place in Columbus and I have yet to find a place that is on-par with the taco trucks in California. But manns, Junior's Tacos comes pretty close to it! Why did I wait so long to try this place?! The food is freeesh! The portions are generous. The prices are affordable. Bonus: that hot sauce makes me sweat like no other! We were really excited and hungry when we found the taco truck. We ordered 15 tacos: 10 carnitas, 3 al pastor, and 2 pollo. ALL with cilantro, of course! We pranced around the parking lot while waiting for the tacos to be made. The anticipation was building! The luscious smell of the grilled and slow cooked meats were an enticing tease. My stomach grumbled and urged me to order more, but my brain was like, "Nooo, you already ordered 15!" We did not have to wait too long. The nice gentleman handed us the glorious styrofoam boxes, all neatly packed in a brown plastic bag. The boxes were generously labeled, so there was no confusion as to what we were eating, (which happens quite often for us!) The tortillas were sooo fluffy and soft! My favorite of the bunch was probably the al pastor. The marinade had a nice kick. Bits of pork fat were mixed in. The carnitas were so tender. The pollo was good, too! IMO, Junior's Taco's gets a big ol' meh. Don't get me wrong; it was fine. I think if this was the first taco truck I had gone to, I would like it better. I'd probably like it better if I lived closer, too. What you'll get at Junior's is the standard taco truck fare: soft corn tortillas with your choice of meat, topped with cilantro, onion, some spicy salsa on the side. The chorizo and el pastor were so-so. Not the best I've had in Columbus. Burrito was good, but just a burrito. Got a side of slightly wimpy, brownish avocado too. The upside was the whole thing cost us just under $15, and I was super hungry, so it hit the spot. Like others have said, its very well run and nice, definitely worth a visit. Junior's was my first and you'll always remember your first. Cheap, delicious and satisfying - just the way I like it. Mmm, you've got to try the carnitas. The pork is so moist, like it's been slowly cooking all day long. The asada is considerably less tasty due to the quality of the meat (or perhaps it was overcooked). Both the red and green sauces were chock full of flavor. The cilantro and onions were fresh, unlike Taco Bells attempt at Taco Truck Tacos. I want to thank Junior's for opening my eyes (and mouth) to the wonderful world of Taco Trucks. To tell the truth, I didn't think food that came out of a funny looking truck in the parking lot of a small stop and shop style store could taste so good. For an almost insanely small amount of money, we were able to get more than enough food and drink for us to feel super stuffed. And the food was actually fresh and pretty healthy - another thing I didn't think a food truck would be able to manage. Between the 3 of us, we tried one of every taco meat available and they were all fantastic. I think the group favorite was the pork though - so juicy and well flavored. Try it with the green cilantro sauce and a couple splashes of the hot red sauce, and you'll fall in love. I can't review the other food items, as we've only tried the tacos, but if the burritos and quesadillas are half as good as the tacos, I'm sure they are worth every penny. read more

If the service was a little more like they cared. At all. It would be better. The menu was very unclear and hard to read at night. They need a light on it. I told her it was my first time there and I was having difficulty reading the menu. She said nothing. No explanation of what they had until I finally said, "are these all tacos?" She said they have tacos, quesadillas, burritos and tortas. That was the end of her explanation. Okay so give me some tacos. I asked for 4 and told her what meats. The place is just good, fairly quick, and very affordable. Just a word to the wise, they had a sign posted on the truck the other day that read: "prices going up soon". This review is for a visit to the truck we made last year around this time. We moved from south Texas in 2009 and have been missing good Mexican fare. We enjoyed what we ordered here. The ingredients were so fresh that it was easy to forgive the tendency towards under-seasoning. To be fair, Mexican food isn't always super spicy; but I do expect a little more of a flavor punch. Nonetheless, I would eat here again. Quality ingredients are used, and the owner is willing to make you whatever you want as long as he has the right ingredients, even if it's not on the menu. And he told us that if there was something we wanted (such as authentic barbacoa), we should give him a heads up and he would have it for us. read more

I've been wanting to try Junior's for a while, but they were never open when I tried to go. Today they finally were, and I have to say I wasn't blown away. I got pastor tacos. I probably should have gotten a variety so I could do a more balanced review but I was really in the mood for pastor. It was tough and chewy. I wouldn't get it again. On the plus side, the sauce that the tacos were served with was great! It had a real nice, creeping heat to it. Even with the sauce, though, I don't think I'd pick Junior's over Taqueria Davanne (which is literally less than a block away). OK, but not exceptional? I tried Juniors last night - out of tamales, which seems to be a constant from everything I keep seeing in reviews (so why offer them? Or why only make a handful but keep it on the regular menu?). I tried several tacos and part of a veggie quesedilla - the carnitas and lengua tacos were solid, but the chorizo and al pastor were lower tier. In my "a little drunk and hungry" mood, they were fine, but in the light of day...eh. The salsa verde had some decent flavor, but their hot salsa did nothing for me - it didn't feel like it made any impact on the tacos I tried it on. The lack of pickled veggies was also a bit of a negative - fresh radish and cucumber wasn't bad, but after trying some of the offerings from trucks like Don Juan or Los Guachos, it was a bit underwhelming. If you're there, it's late, and they're open, go for it. If you're looking for a truck to be your introduction to the taco truck scene, I'd suggest trying another truck first. read more

Let me say that I had super high expectations that just were not met at Juniors. If you could see me now, I am visibly disappointed. Long story short, I read the reviews and headed to 5th Ave with the ol' lady for lunch and we were going to have a Taco Stand war with the place across the street. It was a no contest because the other place informed us they were closing and had nothing but beef tacos to offer. Junior's was the only option. I was looking forward to lengua or something different, but was told that lengua as well as several other items ON THE MENU! were not available. "We don't make that anymore." Well then why is it on the menu? Who knows, but we can an assortment of tacos and an al pastor quesadilla. Pluses - Pork taco, asada taco, al pastor quesadilla, prices! Minuses - ordinary selection of food, fish taco (tilapia) /:( As an aside, I am boycotting tilapia - I'll never buy it again, it is ruining the ecosystem and fish economy. Bad fish!! The fish tacos are made fresh to order. They aren't the best fish tacos I've ever had but they weren't terrible either. I actually preferred the chicken, with onions and cilantro. The chicken itself isn't something to write home about...to be honest, it kind of reminds me of canned chicken. But overall, it tastes great in the taco and again, I can't complain at that price! Great if you're around campus and need your fix of legitimate mexican food. I only get tacos here--it'll be those smaller sized street tacos with double the soft corn tortilla/taco. I would recommend the carne asada, carnita, or chicken. I was very unimpressed with the al pastor tacos.... Good service; friendly people. read more

Love coming here. I get a cheap meal of just amazing flavor! The guy who is usually in there is pretty damn awesome as well.
